So i just got rid of a piece of furniture in my room and now i have this free space...I'd like to either buy or make a fairly simple bike mount/rack that will let me mounts my two bikes vertically against the wall. Do you guys/gals/etc have any ideas?

Yeah, you can mount a shelf into the studs in your wall at a height just taller than the length of your bike. Then you can put hooks into the underside of that shelf to hang your bike.
And you also have a shelf to put your tools/helmet/etc.
Make sense?

bike hooks that mount on the wall (I'd make sure they screw into the stud)... and your bicycle wheel hangs onto the hook... should be able to do everything for around 10 bucks

@BonesMcTones I'd suggest any solid wood. If you go to ikea you can buy the shelf brackets and wood piece cheaply.
Also you could dumpster a piece of wood. Just make sure it's not particle board or that shitty composite stuff made of glue and sawdust...
