Perhaps you didn't realize that there are certain cubbies that have Yellow Fever (fetish for asians). Cubbies embrace the fetish, the relish, mustard, CATZup and of course TOFU. I think its more of a compliment than anything. Spiral, you know you're my favorite cracker right?
Yeah I love the cubz and all... but my first instinct about the whole "Yellow Fever" imagery was that it was kind of fucked up. But then I just couldn't tell if it was a sense of ultra-post-modern black humour or if it was really blatant ignorance.
That said, food's response to this was another blatant racial generalization: "typical westside whiteboys"
For the record, i live a block from a Japanese neighborhood and shop their/eat there almost daily. I love the Japanese culture and this was never intended to be racist or insult anyone. I apologize if i have. The intent was more of a play on the term and for the LOVE of the food but i can see how some may take it differently.

I'm wanting to offer up some of this spicy shrimp curry I make whenever I'm not driving.
Because it's kind of hard to keep a steady supply of onions, chicken, shrimp, ginger-root, coconut milk, habanero peppers,
raw garlic, lemongrass, 'taters, curry powder(canned gravy sucks ding-dong), and yams from either going bad or getting crushed in the truck cab.
Despite all of that, I really think y'all should try it.
Oh, and tofu could be worked into this as well for those of us that wish to remain meatless.
Pretty much if you want to attend, bring something either food or drink to share amongst the rest. The host chooses the theme of the dinner and typically makes the main entre. But feel free to bring anything and everything you'd like!!
Those who don't know, a bottle of 2 Buck Chuck has attended every Den Dinner and remained undrank! The person hosting keeps it until the next host's dinner!
I'm now stopped in Columbus, OH for the night, yet stabbing Westward once again.
From earlier advice from Spook, I'm finding myself a real, low-brow place around here and eat with y'all in spirit.

A big-ass chicken fajita with rice, beans all the side fixin's, and chips/salsa.
Not to mention three Tequila Sunr's involved.
Don't know how y'all do it at the dinners, but mixed drinks always make the pinnacle of the evening.
These Columbus drivers out here are 10X worse than any LA driver I've seen though.
Riding back from the eatery was no picnic in that regard.

Food was sooo delicious. Thanks a million Spook, and props for the vegetarian fare. Yeah it was quite a group last night, lots of awesome conversations and endless hours of kitten powered entertainment.
Ok so i'm figured a few things out. Pictures brought back memories...
The shoulder issue was the fridges fault
The Hair was my fault
My knee was my fault (trying to wheelie Spooks tyke bike at the wave)
but i still can't figure out the nipple injury. hmm..
I think the hair may have been my fault. The nipple wreckage happened at the after-party-dance-off-sharecutters-sextravaganza. You ran up to me yelling "Holy shit! My nipple is bleeding!" I have no idea what you did but probably hit one of the workstands in a fit of drunken dancery.
Awesome night last night and a great meal full of great conversations.
Valuable lessons learned:
-currency is government
-bicycles are anarchy
-kittens have claws
-do not jump out of flying aircraft
-shaving a bicycle into someone's head is harder than it sounds
I'm glad you all had a great time. I can't believe how many dishes we freaking went through. I'm looking forward tot he next one. Hopefully it will be equally as epic.

If we postpone the scheduled Den Dinner for this week (10/24) until next week, that will consecutively push back the otherzz that follow so that we miss the Dinner that would be scheduled for the night before Thanksgiving (11/21)!
I would likely miss the one on 11/21, I would prefer to push it back til NEXT week. Some of you might want to have an EXTRA SPECIAL Den Dinner on 11/21, so this may suit you to keep this week's Den Dinner scheduled.

my udon noodles are done and tasty. plenty of starchy carbs for everyone. You do not put sauce on these noodles, the broth they cooked in seeps in to them.
