We got ourselves our first show at Spaceland.
It's up to you make sure its our last.
Tuesday June 3rd, we are booked to play INSIDE of a non-bike-related venue, Spaceland. They didn't know that Funderstorm is a band of 2,000...
If you bring a bike, you're in the band!!! We want everyone to come out with their bikes!!! We are trying to have so much FUN we are never invited back !!!! Alec has some really good ideas on how to achieve this Level Rad F.U.N.:
+Confetti launchers (simple cardboard tube)
+keep away/ tag games
+water/ food fight
+cake and ice cream for everyone
+face paint
+jump rope
+hand ball (w/ four square ball)
+freeze dance
+musical chairs
+little kids bike to ride around
And it wound be awesome if all this stuff was brought to the club in instrument cases.
YEA!! REPRESENT!!! If they don't buy into it, the admission is $5!
SPACELAND!!! 1717 Silver Lake Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90026
(323) 661-4380
Feast & Libations begin @ 6pm, MEET AT THE GRAND HOUSE! (650 Grand)
Ride to Spaceland @ 8pm
9pm: FUNDERSTORM!!!
10pm: THE WINNERS
11pm: THE METAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY
(have you ever seen a shakespearean sonnet performed to iron maiden?)
(I know this is a bike forum, but technically this post made the minimum requirements base on our current bylaws.)
Marcus Eriksen, along with others concerned about the dire damage from debris polluting the oceans - wants to demonstrate the issue by sailing to Hawaii on a raft of plastic bottles, with a cabin crafted from the fuselage of a gutted two-seater Cessna.
Following the Hawaii trip, there will be another educational trip from Vancouver, Canada, to Mexico by , Eriksen said. That will be followed by a push to get laws enacted to ban the use of plastic disposable products, he added.
Question: Don't you think if the raft were to be lost at sea people like Jay Leno would have a lot of fun with it - to say that two guys went out to draw attention to the problem of plastics in the sea and ended up adding another 15,000 plastic bottles to the problem?
Marcus Eriksen: Well, as I've said, the risks of the raft not making it are the same as any other sailboat. But more importantly, let's look at the facts. Over 10,000 pounds of plastic trash enter the oceans every day from just the city of Los Angeles. Our raft has a total of about 350 pounds - a drop in the bucket. If adding that relatively small amount more of plastics to the oceans is enough to get the issue talked about on national television its absolutely worth it, because right now, virtually no one is giving this issue much thought. It has to start somewhere.
-I've been using bike-bottles for the last, 5 years whenever I needed to drink outside of the house.
Rather than using a paper cup at JackInDaCrack, or buying a 24oz Aquafina, the bottle serves it's purpose time and time again.
As far as that sailboat goes, if it could hold an old Cessna, then we could probably mount 30mm's and torpedo-tubes onboard as well.
WOAH! yes, can you review us in the Music Thread after the show?
btw, its only $5. For the extra $3, though, I just decided that we are going to open up with an encore of the show we are going to play: A tribute to remember how good the first song will be.

That's so odd that you capitalize "Gay Bashing". Gay Bashing a proper term for some special bashing with which you are involved? I bet its not your garden variety gay bashing. Do tell.
Leave my friend Gay Bashing alone. He can't help having an embarrassing name. It's because of people like you that he is considering changing his legal name to Murderingandrapingpeople A. Ndkillingkittens.
I am really excited for this amazing event, but, I am going to have to ask everyone, very seriously, to not destroy the place.
Please.
My friends, of Metal Shakespeare, have different goals than you all, and they need this show to go over well so they can use it as a reference in booking shows in L.A. again. At the very least, they need to be given a chance to play that night, and I will possibly get you kicked out if you threaten to ruin that opportunity.
The booking agent, Jennifer, gave Jason and myself the opportunity to invite people, sight and sound unseen to play, and you accepted. FUNDERSTORM WAS NOT FORCED INTO THIS.
Furthermore, Jennifer is a fan of Midnight Ridazz and is really looking forward to having a bunch of bike people in the space. Don't betray her trust and sabotage her and other potential MR converts by being "inconcsiderate" or doing stupid shit at the wrong place in the wrong time.
Yes, let's get -21ers in there as band members. If we all pretend to be band members, they might not buy it, and our friends won't be able to be part of the show.
Yes, let's play tag, and be face painted, and make tons and tons of noise.
No, no, no graffitti, silly string, or anything else that is damaging or too hard to clean up.
No bringing in of your own beer. We'll have tons at Grand before, and flask it if you must, but buy a drink or two if you're going to use their space. This is a small business, we're not talking Staples center here.
Really, I'm super-excited, and I'm going to go nuts, but I believe in sharing. Share the fun. Don't take it for yourself and a few insiders.
yeah i agree with Vspangle. Jennifer is a friend of mine and let's not fuck her and spaceland over by destroying the place. That being said, who has a cymbal to attach to my tall bike to make it an instrument? I'm bring that shit into spaceland and making sure it's on stage and being played.
They're pretty strict there with fakes. They have one of those card reader thingamajiggathingas. You're only hope is to bring an instrument and BE part of the band... which you are.... FUNDERSTORM ARKESTRA!
It'll take him 3 days to get kicked out of the UK, and about two weeks to get kicked out of Grease. What's he plan to do with the rest of his time? I suggest he goes to Morocco. They even welcome criminals there!
i'll try to go if everyone does what vspangle says. i've only been there once and don't want to be banned for life. i also know people that work there and i would hate to do something terrible to them. we should have fun and not ruin it for anyone else.
Spaceland is right near my house so I'll be there for sure, but I'll probably ditch out after FUNDERSTORM!!!! and head west on Santa Monica to Bar Lubtich or however you spell that place because my friends Travis and Shepard are DJing the rock and roll there and it'll be rock and roll. You know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, West Side folks are welcome to join because you know, the best time to go to a bar is right after leaving another one.
EDDIEBOY I really appreciate it man...You even changed my batteries in the middle of the show. Thats like changing someone's tube in the middle of a ride! Sound, lights, batteries, computers, if it has a charge (even if it doesn't) you are the man. See you tonight homey.
IMMMMMM EXXXXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FUNNNNNNNNNDERRRRRRRRRR SSSSTTTTTOOOORRRRRMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IARE WE THERE YET ARE WE THERE YET????
IMPORTANT though; yes, this is most certainly a Funderstorm event, but my friends drove all the way from Portland, and are riding with us to the show to perform Shakespeare Metal style for you.
So far Lizzard and I will be rolling out, probably from Venice and National at 7pm, but it depends on where you guys are riding from, we could find a more convenient location for everyone. jericho1ne at yahoo if you'd like to discuss further.
Considering taking Santa Monica most of the way, can't say I've found a fun, safe, AND fast way to get to that side of town.
Oh my goodness---that was some fully enriching experience with good friends...I haven't been this spastic and happy for a while. Thanks Funderstorm. And thanks, pantaloons rockers. Yeouw!!!
Last night the energy was so raw and pure and fun and loud and sweaty! Not only did we PLAY Spaceland, we ROCKED Spaceland! Not only did we ROCK Spaceland, AMFAP (AsMuchFunAsPossible) Spaceland! Not only did we AMFAP Spaceland, we AMFAP'd the touring band as well!
AMFAP!
Also I am excited about the peeps (even the underagers) that joined the band last night! hahahaha...
I get really AMFAP thinking about how unbelievably fun/raw/smart/sexy the crowd is at our shows! You guys make the memories! Really, yall were way more fun to watch than most BANDS!
COME GET PAID!
So, as promised by yours truly, I am going to be writing a check to everyone that showed up to this last show (in the amount that we got paid divided by the amount of people, which is about 45.) WE GOT PAID $40 LAST NIGHT! I know thats a lot of money, for any work of creative expression or genuine energy, but believe me, you guys really earned it.
Wow, think of all the things you do with $40! That's about 6 beers at Spaceland! YAY! (too bad we have to split the beers with our band members. :( :) :) :) )
VERY IMPORTANT:
To collect your check, please email THEFUNDERSTORM@GMAIL.COM and include your mailing address. Also indicate if you'd like to...
GET IN THE BAND!
aka THE FUNDERMAILING LIST!
We are starting an old school band mailing list. Sending out CD samplers, postcards from our tour, announce secret shows, and other silly silly silly stuff... THROUGH THE MAIL!
We might have one after The Tern of The Century, but not yet confirmed...We keep our myspace updated, its just easier...
BTW, I don't know if you guys heard them, but after the show Jason of The Metal Shakespeare Co. said last night's show was their favorite of the 7 dates they've played! They said they've played to more people, but with our group it didnt matter because you were the most rowdy!
aWW, JAZ! you were on the band list! !!! !! !!!
thats ok, after a while we had another underage substitute "Jaz" that played for you. Unlike the nice underage girls "in the band", they didnt let him in until the show started and then kicked him out right after!
I was looking for you CityH!
EDDIEBOY!!!! WTF! where did you go? better have been important!
Marcus and BRad and Jaz... so sorry i missed the show. I was training for my weekend gig as a party entertainer. I was learning to make balloon sculptures/animals. I will make you a balloon flower congratulatory bouquet at the next ride i see you guys at.
oh man i totally read JAZ's name on the list (almost thought i would say it was meeeeeee ;) just kidding.... but i was wondering who it was...

Fuzz - I'd rather your sweat in my eye than anyone else I can currently think of <3 as for neck crunching - surprizingly it doesn't hurt like I thought it would...
sooooooo will we get address' along the way to mail Funderpackages to Fundercyclists?
I'll meet you in NY beginning of Sep!!! Funderstorm should come and greet the boat!!!!!!!!!
I am happy to say this was my first time using a sort of fake ID and it was a success! YAY I am glad my first time was Funderstorm. it will be very memorable.
I haven't done this much movin' for a long time. Everyone is saying they were sore the day after the show. I was, too. But it wasn't injuries....it was two solid hours of good, clean fun. Between songs and sets, we laid on the floor, piled up on each other...just happy to be so active, and happy to be so happy. There was not a single ounce of, 'oh, I'm cooler than you,' or, 'oh, fucking let me whirl around in this gnarly pit and kick someones ass.' It was all about interacting with b-rad and skidmarcus and everyone else around us--and finding our own way to have fun. There were people there older than me....there were kids and moms. It was just pure fun and energy. There wasn't a slogan to stand behind. There wasn't any 'us v.s. you'. I was all about letting loose...and being absolutely, undoubtedly positive and inclusive. It was intense, it was raw, it was loving, it was Totally Inclusive. I have been to a bunch of shows in my life, and I've played a bunch of shows, too. But, this is honestly a new paradigm for me. There wasn't one person at this show, to my knowledge, who felt like they didn't get it, or they weren't included. That is some serious shit to say, but I fully lived the show. And, it made me happy. I'm still 'buzzing' from it.
Cheers, Funderstorm! And fuck yeah, Shakespeare rockers!! I will remember this one, for sure.
I know more than 48hrs have past since I had amfap.... yet I am still so sore... and purple and blue and yellowish green in places. I love us! Sweat and hugs and dances and AHHHAAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAHH!!!! and jawbreaking head knocking!! Even Metal Shakespeare, whilst not as funderful as thine band of 2000, managed to keep the F.U.N cranked way up! I am so excited for all the cities that will get to have Funderstorm in their lives very soon!! <3 muah! to career ending!
for those of you who keep saying: 'i don't know what annie's talkin' about because there WAS a show! how do you explain the bruises and torn clothes?! and i know people took photographs! waaa!' well, here is the evidence to prove that IT NEVER HAPPENED!
