Send in an undercover reporter to do a piece on the rides.
Not really sneaky, but under the guise of something appearing innocent at first, unwanted coverage/media attention performed in this manner is a sure way to make some heads roll.
Fox11 news has done this many times with gangs, rave-scenes, homeless camps, cutters and all others that don't follow the typical, American life of being squeeky clean, having that office job, wife/kids and a large house.

I guess I will just explain that my comment was a jab at fox news...as in saying they are ALWAYs doing something sneaky, so I am confused as to why "one day" they would do something sneay.

I remember about fifteen years ago (yes 1994 to be exact) there was this great club in the basement of this place behind Hollywood blvd just west of Highland. This was before you had after hours and underclub of the last 12 years. It was the most happening club, after hours liquor, drugs and gambling. Then fox undercover did a story on it and it went bye-bye.
I remember them covering other things that where cool and then they would either be ruined after the viewing or disappear. I guess we don't have to worry about that around here, little punks like KushTown and those like them already ruined the freedom we once had in doing these rides. Thanks guys!

he cares because when his ride tries to go to a 7-11 to get beer and get kicked out because "bicyclists stole beer from us last night" he doesn't like it. people stereotype. you dont want to give bicyclists an image of jacking from stores because then we get the consequence of something that is your fault.
and yes, the above reference did happen to me on a ride. that was on a thursday night. at the same store kushtown hit up the night before

What do I care you ask?
It could be that I own a few convenience stores and that when you steal you are stealing from me. In reality that is nothing to what I really upset about.
There was a time when these rides gave those who participated on them a freedom that is now long gone. The city was ours to do what we wanted and go wherever we pleased and nobody cared. I was reminiscing with my Girl Friend about the first ride I took her on. We ended up on 12th and Fig in DTLA in front of the old Trans World bldg which is now a city of LA building and safety office. We where sitting on the corner drinking beers and blazing up some pot. An LAPD car rode by checked us out, and I wave to them with a beer in my hand and they looked us over saw we where no harm and drove on. The security of the building came by and said hi and talked for a while with us. Neither where threatened or concerned that we where hanging out there and partying at 3 in the morning. To them we where just those people on bikes enjoying places nobody else went to. We where able to go and do what we wanted and it was never a problem. I remember we where hanging out in a 7-11 parking lot and the store clerk came out a gave us some pastries. I gave the clerk a spoke card. It was a really friendly situation. I don't think you will ever see that again. We where not only NOT harassed and allowed to do what we wanted, we where welcomed smiled upon and people didn't flinch or raise an eyebrow about our "out in the open partying"
Then things started to change, dumb kids started stealing from stores, people would leave parking lots a completely mess. They tolerated it at first, but we knew if we kept up that kind of behavior that things would change and we would no longer be welcomed. That is why people on this board where "up in arms" about people who would steal or leave messes. We all knew that it would cause people to look at these group rides with terror, no longer welcome us, and end up calling the police when we showed up. Guess what, those things eventually did happen. Now today we no longer have those freedoms. People on this Kush Town ride even wrote about how you where shooed away by the building security where you meant up for your ride. In the past that would never happen on any ride.
Was it Kushtown who started this? NO. But from all the things that have been written about it on this board, Your behavior explemlifies and magnifies all the actions that has caused us to no longer enjoy the freedoms that we once had. With behavior like that, it just makes it hard for the rest of us to enjoy the use of the city while together on group rides.
I came across an old school rida who has moved on to other things. He was riding along and was taken back by this group of riders riding along and yelling KUSH TOWN, like they where gang bangers on bikes. He thought how ridiculous has this become. He said he yelled back, I'm too poor for KUSH, I smoke Stress. Stress TOWN, laughing and shocked how bad this whole thing looked. Mind you this kids is no old white man like myself, he is a young super cool laid back Guatemalan beyond punk rocker looking kid.
To conclude:
It's not the end of the world that I can't now buy a beer at 7-11 or that you steal them from my stores. It doesn't matter that you try to take my bikes (although I would never put up with it) if you did I can buy more. You can stab each other all you want. As Denzel and Hawke say in Training Day "let the animals wipe each other out - God willing!" It's that you represent why we lost what was so precious, exciting and electric about these rides. It is gone in the City of LA. I doubt we will ever get that freedom back, especially with the way you all act. It does suck that I can't just throw my bike and back pack down when we stop for a break and know twenty minutes later that it will still be where I left it. Now days you can't turn your back on your stuff for 20 seconds without having to worry about it being jacked from you.
I don't think you will really get what I just wrote, but there will be others that will know exactly what I'm saying. Maybe one day you will think back on this and realized what I was conveying.
Another thing. Where did you get the nerve to call yourself midnight ridazz 323. That was a low down blasphemous move. Midnight ridazz is all of us. Remember that when you are out doing these things that effect everybody in a negative way. Your actions a(e)ffect everybody.

Yes, its true I'm white, La Har is Columbian, Sprialdemon is Chinese, Dingo is Mexican and looks black and bigsexxy looks like she escaped from the zoo. We where all there.
It was a different time them. Yes we had some issue here and there with the police, but for the most part we had run of the city. We would rarely if ever get harassed or stop. At least that was my experience of it. I'm glad to have seen that other thread about people really enjoying KushTown ride. I would love to be proved wrong about anything negative I have to say about anything.

cops will often leave you alone if you just look them in the eye, smile and nod with the utter confidence that you are doing nothing wrong, even if you're stoned and drinking a beer. cops can smell fear.
95% of cops are just ordinary people who probably grew up drinking in the park. if they identify with you, they will leave you alone.
