good ride last night. 4 fixed gear bikes made the trek up to Griffith. Only 2 finished up to Nicholes canyon. Lots of fun. 47 miles from my house in silverlake.

Balboa blvd. north to,
Foothill blvd then east on Foothill to the end
then down to The Rosebowl
then down the Aroyyo bike path
back up Riverside drive through Griffith park
back to NOHO
Lots of long stretches with wide lanes

haha, I was thinking the same thing. Craig, remember when we took that exact route, and the two of us got separated on Balboa 'cause you were waiting for me, and everyone else took a wrong turn? Yeah. Foothill was as far as we went then, we just headed straight back to NoHo after. +Pasadena? Ya'll have gotten way further out of my league than I had thought.

That might be a bit too long. We can always go up LaTuna to shorten it. Do we have to go to Balboa to catch Foothill? Is there a way to catch Foothill near Vineland? I need to work in the AM too and 60 miles is too long. We can work it out at the start. We wont be doing 60 miles tonight..more like 40-45.

What would be the mileage on that route? That would be a good option also. Looks like we are headed to the Rose Bowl, but we will decide the first part of the route at the start. Lets keep the mileage around 40-50.

Yo! Great ride last night! The lights were on and we were allowed to go through! I hope they change it next year, I don't how many years in a row I can take the same crapy spectacle they call the Festival of Lights!
It was cold but those Kogi tacos sure warmed me up!
It was great seeing some new faces and catching up with friends...

If we Rose Bowl, La Tuna is the best way to get there. And the Arroyo bike path back to avoid the lights. That is my favorite route. Or we can go out to Valley Circle and do a SFV route. We can decide at the start. We will do something good tonight. It should be warm too.

depends who shows up.
average speed is irrelevant but it can be anywhere from 18-21.
a couple people show up on fixed, though im not sure how many make it till the end. i usually break off when the ride swings by my house 2 blocks before the start.
come out, you'll find out if you can hang before we get to la tuna.

I think we need to make a few changes to this route to cut out traffic stops and cars. Lets go straight to La Tuna and head down to the Rose Bowl and do a lap and come by way of Arroyo Bike Path and back on Riverside. We hae done that route a bunch of times and its noe of the best routes we do.

The century could be a weekend deal.
It should be advertised as a group ride well in advance to get a turn out.
There are alot of cool regroup spots on that route.

just did bicykillers. it's fast, bring a geared road bike if you can. everyone was really friendly and they even changed the originally scheduled route to something easier to accommodate the 4-5 fixed gear riders that showed up. 3 fixed gear dudes dropped before the first stop! it was a fun experience, but you gotta almost be a sub-elite athlete or really bring your A game if you're fixed and plan on staying with the main peloton body of riders. especially if JOHN is around. anyways, in short, these guys are beasts and there's no doubt bicykillers, cub camp, and wolfpack hustle are the fastest LA rides.

I was riding that route on Sunday when my front wheel blew out coming down Las Flores and when I went to fix the flat I noticed that my carbon rim was cracked and damaged beyond repair. So I had to call for the team car to pick me up. Gonna try again this weekend.

it was awesome. I underestimated my own ability when we hit that hill @ universal. Yes I was slow. But what can I say, it doesn't matter the length or the incline. There hasn't been a climb I haven't vested. I'm slow but I'll get there. My data is mine, everyone else could just take about 10 minutes off the time and increase the avg speet by 3 mph and you're set. See yall next week

Yes, there is a ride. We are going up La Tuna to the Rose Bowl this week. With all the wind this week, it may be too windy up there. We will most likely ride the Arroyo bikepath back from the Rose Bowl and also ride the newly extended river path on the way back. Really good route this week.

We got on the river trail at Los Feliz and got off on Riverside right where it turns left and changes to Figueroa. The trail extension is relatively new so you might not find it on a map.

I've heard fast things about BICYKILLER ride... so far I've been on Silverlake, and the mash week for BURBANK folks.

before my first time, i was really worried about not being able to keep up or getting dropped or whatever.
i think you should just go.
everyone's really nice and there are regroups and folks are cool with givin you a minute to catch ur breath.
its a ride that will show you how fast you really can go.
of course, if ur some cat 1 racer then everything above means nothing but if ur an avid rider that wants to get fast, this is the way.
