ROTW: SEXY
Thread started by Roadblock at 05.27.08 - 8:46 pm

I know I know the last ROTW was only hours ago... I can't help it. Anyhoo I nominate sexy as Rida of the Week! This guy is real smooth like a Wink Martindale smile as he qwizzle-qualitay corks that ass in a clown suit... One of my all time funniest Ridazz momentzz... Seeing Sexy in a clown suit corking a Mini Van with a poor old middle-aged mom looking bleeky on in a blank stare as Sexy is performing perhaps the worst Clown act ever to be performed. It was porno bad. Meaning it was damn good to see until the double anal beastiality part. Anyway he's always throwing out zingers and thoughtful comments about whatever the fuck he pleases and that's what I love about this big mouf fun luving guy. YES!

Agreed. That's why i thought he should get sexiest photo too!

Sexy,
Did you ever learn to work on your bike? And did you ever return the master link to whoever lent you one on the Ninja ride? I think it was Glo-Rider but I can be wrong, he might have loaned a tool.

Ninja ride was the first time I formally met you, I worked on your broken chain.

duh, just look at me.

Maybe you want to know how I got the name Sexy? even if you don't I'm going to tell it.

back when the Bike Oven was JosefUbrey02's garage, he would have parties after the Spoken'Art ride at the Oven. Josef would put on these various races and competitions. You had to come up with your own street name to participate in them. So I came up with this hella funny/witty name. I used this name a few times as my street race name, then for some reason I forgot it, and the paper with the stats got lost. So I had to come up with a new name, and I had to do it something quick, I thought ha, I just call myself "Sexy" that silly, stupid and arrogant all at once, that will work. I had forgotten that the CICLE girls had already crisened me "Ride Whore". I thought "Ride Whore" as a name was witty and honorable at the same time. When it came to identifying myself, I would never remember Ride Whore, but always remembered Sexy. I to this day can't remember that original name and the paper is gone.

Here is the real mystery. I finally decided to sign up on the Midnight Ridazz.com site, after checking it out for a couple of months. It was all on a whim when I finally broke down and registered on this site. I wanted to respond to one of the threads, so I signed in as "Sexy". Since, MidnightRidazz.com use Sexy in the photo gallery rating as the adjective to describe the level of a photo's superiority, the question is...."did I come up with the name "Sexy" before the advent of MidnightRidazz.com, or after it was created"? The only real way to know is get those race stat sheets, that where hanging in Josef's Garage (old BIKE OVEN) and check the dates. I don't know if Ubrey02 kept the stats or just tossed them out, when they moved the OVEN.

I think the noun came before the adjective in this case. To prove it, the BiKE OVEN race stat will be the document that can the truth.
Until then, I will claim I came up with it as a name before I saw this web site. It actually makes the most sense. How many pictures where there in the early days of this site!

Who is the Original Sexy?

Sexy makes my veganbananapenis want to dance. I think it's that mischievous smile of his. I also miss the amusements from the insults and bantar that sexy and City Hobgoblin used to share; a romance had blossomed.

I always remember that night in Vegas in front of the 7-11 when you introduced your vegan veganbananapenis to us. I'm glad I'm finally doing something positive for this world. Your veganbananapenis makes the world go round.

Say, "Hi" to Sealy for me.

City Hobogoblin is no doubt "hot sex" in a male model/movie star way especially with all of his good looking friends. the good ones always hang around in packs but if Sealy wants in, old CH is yesterdays news.

Did you ever learn to work on your bike?

I know what I know. I learn more each time I decide to tackle something. I know how to work on chains and replace them if needed. I learned to true wheels, (pretty quickly, may I brag) except for getting the hump out of them (is that even possible?) Much more ability to fix a bike now, then when I meant you.

What I can't do is, dial in those derailers, Fix STI shifters I never tried and probably never should, I can't properly tighten an axel in the the hub, ( and I tried and tried and tried).

And did you ever return the master link to whoever lent you one on the Ninja ride? Ninja ride was the first time I formally met you, I worked on your broken chain.

No I never returned the master link, nor would I even attempt. I would think that would take away from the specialness that goes with the mantra of "No Rida left Behind". For me to return the master link would be like giving somebody money after they took you to lunch, it wouldn't be right. I would never expect anything from anybody back if I helped them.

let me explain
For years I would ride around with no, spare tubes, no patch kit, no pump. One morning on my way to work, I was in Benedict Canyon and got a flat. I would usually walk home or to a shop, or get on a bus if that happened. There was no shop or bus in sight. I had to walk it, it was the first time I wish someone would stop and help me or pick me and give me a ride. On my walk to work, three roadies passed me by at various time. I tried to wave each of them down to possibly helped me. They all ignored me, except for one lady on a super small frame, she smiled, but didn't stop to help. I was crying inside. I was so sad and work pissed at me for being late, (there was clients waiting and I was needed).

I got a ride to Hollywood Pro bikes after work that day and purchased a new tire, an overpriced pump and tubes. Ever since then, well I'm not going to tote my own horn, but all I say to people when they offer me money, my reply "use it to buy a couple extra next time, you never know when you might come across somebody who needs it." I might have taken money a couple of time to be a dickhead, but I think I would always give it back.

To return that master link would just be cheapening everything that this community is about. I actually expected somebody else to fix it for me that night. Plus I was too far gone to actually fix anything that night, (I'm surprise you talk to me after that night, I heard I was in rare forum) I know I thanked whoever fixed it for me and for the master link on this forum. Whoever gave me that masterlink had a van, it was two guys, they said they had a chain too. That is a one of the things that make midnightridazz/los angeles bike culture so wonderful, how people look at after one another. I'm really happy and proud to be part of this community, and would never take away anybodys opportunity to serve me when I'm in need.
I mentioned this before, it was such an honor when RB fixed my flat for me in SF. It was also embarrassing that night on the Railroad tracks, but having you and Bea escort us back to the car, is what this is all about. By the way, both breaks where rubbing on the rim that night, after the crash, I'm not that bad.

I think you told me to replace the chain. When I took it to the bike shop to have it replaced they told me it didn't need to be replaced, but I told them "Coach said so", (no I didn't say "coach said so", I told them replace it anyways)

I think it was Glo-Rider but I can be wrong, he might have loaned a tool. so many people, I have meant and not remembered. I sure i talked to him many times, but I don't really remember. My only clear recollection of Glo-Rider is on Highland and Santa Monica,(pajama party ride) I had just got past a motorcycle on Franklin and Highland, who wanted to pull me over, because the cop said I looked buzz. The cop never saw me ride the bike so I got off and walked it to avoid the possible field sobriety test. I meant back up with Glo-rider and talked about how low he was on that recumbent.

How did you find out about the Midnight Ridazz??

In a dream, Roadblock, was skating off my bedroom wall, and then he tagged Midnight Ridazz, Ride on! on my white bed spread,

no not really.

I don't know know where I heard about it first, but I came across this guy who doesn't come out to ride anymore, at a anti-war rally in Westwood. We went to Cuba together with large delegation, and I was preaching to him about getting a bike when we where in Cuba. So I see him at this rally and I'm like, "did you get a bike yet?", and he say, "yeah I got a bike, have you gone to midnight ridazz yet?" I'm like no, I heard of it, but never really took it seriously, He say "oh you have to go, it so much fun" He had this sparkle in his eye, as he told me about it. I think it was another few months after that before I actually found it. First MR ride was "The Cult Ride" i was high off all the people on the streets together on bikes. It was a dream come true. YES I wore all white.

What was your most memorable ride to date?

oh come on, your going to have to re-phraze that or ask it differently
these rides are all so bitchen. There like kids, I love them all, and they all have there own personalities when I look back on them. I appreciate all of them.

They are like sex or pizza, even when they are bad, they are great.
Well they don't make you fat or leave with you things you don't want, but you get my point

I might come back to that one, if something strikes my fancy

Where do you see SFVCM in the future? five years from now?

I don't know what to say about this. These smaller Satelite Critical Mass rides around LA county are real fragile, and if not handled properly, can die real easily. I have seen it happen with Pasadena CM a couple of times and I don't even know if NELA CM still exist?
Santa Monica ended up being really successful, accept for this non-sense with the Police that is happening. It was a real stable ride, now I don't know what the future holds for it. I hope people come out and support it. I'm not big on Santa Monica critical mass, but as long as the police are messing with it, I'll be out there to try to keep it alive, as my situation/schedule permits.

With the great bike culture, all the events and rides Los Angeles has, critical mass is not as important as it is in LA as it is in other city. In many other cities, CM is all the majority know they have. This is changing. especially with the fixed gear culture that is helping the whole bike culture thing grow world wide.

I see SFV-CM easily going the way of Pasadena if not taken care of and babied properly. I hate to claim anything to do be as an organizer or leader with SFV-CM. I will say I'm an original Advocate for SFV-CM. I saw early on that riding the streets of San Fernando Valley on a tuesday night at 8:00-11pm. could be pretty boring.

My home situation doesn't allow me to make it out to SFV-CM all the time now. In the past, people would look at me when I would get up before the ride and say where should we go tonight. I would end up leading the ride, I would try to keep it interesting and exciting, going through parking structures, side streets, civic centers apartment complexes, alleys, any thing to liven the ride up. Sometimes taking us to dead ends. People where always forgiving about that. It always ended up being fun.

Now the valley has "Tuesday Night Special" ride. I hear it is a great ride, unfortunately, I have never had the ability to attend one. I would love to have been on everyone of them.

The reality is, it is up to the people who participate in it ( or choose not to participate in it) that will make up the fate of SFV-CM. Tuesday Night Special is out on the streets of SFV every Tuesday, they are the one on the streets of the Valley on that night. They will have much to do with the direction SFV-CM goes.

I have no vision, I just hope people are out riding more and more. Whatever name it goes under, or doesn't go under it doesn't matter.
As longs as people are out riding, having fun, and enjoying each other that all that matters. KEEP THE SFV-818 alive. It really coming along out here, and Tuesday Night Special is taking it to another level. Choppercopras, was here to begin with, and then Cruz with Us/MR took it to another level. Then we did the CM and now Tuesday Night Speical. It all just takes participation.

Now the BkeBrigade is doing a Sunday afternoon ride. GO CHECK IT OUT. Not to leave out BARCHOPZ and Sleazy Ridazz.

after all that,, I see the future being bright as a summer valley day for SFV.

Now just to get these BMX gangs sprinkled throughout the Valley organized, there alot of those kids riding around here.

Have you ever done any bike touring? Would you want to try?

Is there anybody in this scene whom you actively dislike? More than one person? Don't name names if you don't want to, just yes or no.

What is your response when people point out the seeming contradiction between your radical politics and your taste for bourgeois comforts?

This one is a hand-me-down, but it fits you perfectly: where did you get your penchant for saying whatever comes into your head, regardless of the social consequences?

What was your favorite CruzzWithUs ride?

Its a toss up between the 7-11 ride and the Rave ride.

The 7-11 ride was genuine good time fun party ride. It was when I think it really came alive with Cruz with Us. It was just a good time, for real. It reminds me of what CRANK MOB thinks it is and trys to be, but it was really happening, it wasn't forced and it wasn't decided before hand that it was going to be this way, it just ended up being a real good time party.

I remember the clerk at one burbank 7-11 came out and gave us pastries for free, I gave him a spoke card. It was real community that night, everybody had a blast, even BillyBikeBob, revealed himself to me for a short moment and then rode away (he claimed he wasn't gonna cock block, while I was talking to a girl).

The Rave Ride was straight upRAW , it was so much fun, thedancing , the fire in the back of Athena, fireworks, it was such a good night, I think someone stoled a backpack of Dingo's girl that night, but besides that it was alive, and full of new faces.

Havn't made it to your last rides. Heard they where great.

How did you meet BigSexy?

It was at the Rave Ride, when we stopped at Valley college. It might have been obvious to everybody else that she fancied me, but I wasn't sure if it was me Dingo's "Fonzi stance", Rev Dak's glo in the dark neckless , or the beer Dak was holding that she was eying. As you can see , I was trying to take a piss on Black Betty, and was annoyed by the combination of Spiraldemon taking my picture, Eric Hair's fading green hair, and Howard smirking at me.

No no no,

It was at beauty school. I was seating among a sea of single girls, I had no idea there was other girls in the class with me, when all I could see was his one tall statues beauty. It was really hard to concentrate on the lessons, when all my minds focus, was on this heavenly beauty that was graced upon my life. I have never been nervous around girls before, but it was my first time that I encountered a women like bigsexxy. My heart would race and my palms sweat as I would enter the class, anticipating my being in her presences again. I don't know if I lost interest in the lessons or just my lack of ability to concentrate on anything but her, I thought maybe cosmetology isn't for me, dropping the class was now out of the question, it was my only connection to this goddess. It wasn't til she came up to me and introduced herself to me, that I truly knew, I was way out of my league. All I could do was just glare with wonder at this angel. We started talking, and to my amazement, we hit it off. She would invite me to breakfast, and with her seduction, had me abandoned my vegan ways with her temptations of egg whites, in the school cafeteria. At that time I knew my soul was no longer mine.

Good news,

I went to the doctor and my foot is almost healed up. One more week of staying off it, then a week of walking on it in the big Frankenstine boot, and then I move on to regular shoes, if everything works out right.

Yes Danny, I usually always take too much calcium/magnesium, along with Glucosamine/Chondroitin/ MSM.

I never got ahold of that Salamon Seal that RedRidingHood was talking about. I do want to have it available in case I am or somebody I know is in this situation again. Until this week, I was at the whim of whoever would do what for me , so trying to get that tea was lower on my priority list then getting food, going to the doctor, bitching about the direction of LACM, and creating ROTY recognition messages.

Alex,
before I got home to read this. I picked up a Pizza Pie for dinner, along with my case of my Red Beer and and half case of "High Frutose Corn Syrup FREE" Root Beer.

Nobody asked, but I really like Red Beer.

Q: When you wear that turban looking thing, I can totally picture you as some sort of seer. Are you a bringer to peace or a doomsayer? What does the future hold for us, as a species. As Ridazz. As Angelenos.

Great questions Rev Dak. I don't know if I can do them justice, but I will try.

My ears get cold really easy, once the temperature cools off. Its was more a fashion/political statement when I would wear it. I wore that kaliif right after 9-11. It was a fuck you to the ignorant Arab basing/War mongering that was going on and I thought it looked really cool. Its been used fashionably so much since then, it lost its luster. It still looks super cool, but it been done too much.

I'm really fascinated by Arab and Persian culture. I think the desert land is beautiful. I wish we didn't destroy Iraq. It was one of those place that I see in pictures and feel like it is a place that I would belong in, the structures, the donkey, the palm tress. As for Iran, I have never been that impressed by the landscape (its almost European looking to me), but I think the people are really gorgeous. Palestinians are really pretty also. As for Arabs in general , there looks usually don't strike my fancy. I like those white gowns that the guys all wear in Saudi Arabia, I think those look really cool. Camels are really cool animals, I could see myself riding one across the desert. I guess that why I always liked Palm Springs and Vegas so much.

As for what the future holds for us? I'm no seer, that for sure. I really hope we get it together on a macro scale. I see people and there thoughts and inter most feelings as being good, unfortunately I see us all destroying this place and making it uninhabitable for us to co-exist on it. This includes myself the most, and you also.
Just the fact we waste so much electricity on these gadgets, like these computers we are on, is so wasteful and so detrimental. That electricity comes from somewhere, and the effects of creating it, are not beneficial to us but harmful. Even the electricity itself and the hertz it is at, is really bad for our bodies. Then those cell phones that I use. If it true, what is theorized, about what it is doing to the bees, we are all doomed, if it isn't they might give us all brain tumors. Poisons in our foods, I can go on and on., and I will with one of PC's questions. We just have to take better care of our earth and each other.

I would love to see us really get it together and make this earth the paradise that it was meant to be. Taking care of one another, there is no need for greed, there is so much to go around, we could design things to serve us better without creating so much waste.
Eliminate the deadly stress that ruins our lives.
When I went to Cuba, they had this huge vat full of beer, on these still beams. I mean huge, and it was good beer, They would open the spout and fill your pitcher, and the overflow container was a 55 gal drum cut in half (like a bar-b-qure) that would catch it, just to give you the magnitude of the size of the beer vat (it was like 50x bigger then a 55 gal drum) It was five cents for a plastic pitcher. It was half the size of regular plastic pitcher that you see in most people kitchen. Five cents to fill it up. Think about how much waste and trash and energy to produce and bring to market these individual cans or bottles of beers we drink. Less then dollar and you could have all the beer you wanted at one of these street parties. It was really really really great beer too. Why are all guilty of this, it is our system of commerce here.

I see this community slowly but surly taking us always from our wasteful ways, and really coming together to do things. This is the direction that will create a better life for us all. We all share 30 packs or 12 packs or beer in my case, instead of buying individuals,
Somebody wants to make a keg on a bike now. Just think how great that would be, if we pulled that off. People open each others houses stay at and kitchen to feed each other, and garages to works on each other bikes and create new bikes . Some people from this community entertained the idea of planting a garden for me, (but realize I live too far away) . There is so much more to say, but we are really a force of change for the better I could go on with this but, to quote Alec "We are the Ones we have been waiting for"

My only naysay is that I hope we don't create these rides to be too boring. I can see this happening and that why I been a little pissy about the LACM. It might be fine to have it safe and have no problems with anything or anybody, but if this get boring to everybody, then its over. Nothing else will stop these rides, accept for us losing in interest, and if they become boring, then nobody will come out any more. People can say the same thing in regards to them becoming too dangerous, or people feeling uncomfortable, but I don't see that keeping to many people away. I could be all wrong, that just my opinion

As Angelenos, I can see this city being a really great place if we could really come together and take care of one another, BUT
and its a big BUT. Not a good kind of butt
I've been going to the library these past two weeks and getting movies and books. Books have popped out me and videos also, that talks about how unsustainable California is, we import the majority of our water, which makes us very vulnerable if it gets cut off, or we don't get enough to support the populace and the fact we are above some serious seismic activity, waiting to give. We have gotten away with this for along time now. I don't know how long we can continue and get away with this. I hope it continues for along time. I question why this information keeps coming at me, on my radio programs too. We can brush it off, but when it comes, it could be seriously devastating. Please tell me what a naysayer I was about this when we are 80 in the old folks community home for cyclist, I prefer it go down that way.

How did you get into haircutting?

My parents where both hairdressers when I was growing up. It was something that I always wanted to do.
They had a beauty salon close to the house, which was like my second home in my formative years.
The plan was I was going to go to beauty school at 16 and when I graduated high school and received my license to do hair when I was 18, I was going to take over the family business.

My parents lost the spot that they rented when I was 12. It was super cheap rent, so getting another spot of there own didn’t make sense. At the time commercial real estate was bubbling through the roof. So they rented booths at various locations. My Mom came down with cancer at this time, so she was sick and my Dad continued on with doing hair taking care of my Mom. At about age 15, I saw everybody and there mothers going to hairdressing. It was a booming time for hair dresser. I talk to the old timers and they say that was the time they made the most money. I think the influx of new talent drove down the rates of high income. I realized with everybody going into that business I would be fighting a uphill battle, so I shelved the idea of doing hair.

During my 20’s I got into doing the bright (manic panic/funky color) colors on myself and my friends ala’ Eric Hair today.

Fast forward to about the time I’am 31. I wanted to put high lights in a friends hair. I kept calling my Dad and leaving him messages about how to do it. My Dad would never call me back. I found out later doing high lights was something he never learned to do right, so I think that why he avoid my calls.
I didn’t have much going for myself at the time, so I thought I would go to hair school, learn the trait, learn how to do high lights.

I always had a fascination with hair since I was little kid and still admire a great head of hair or great hair cut or color. As I got into the business I found it wasn’t beautiful hair that made you money, but nasty gray hair, that has to be colored and styled frequently.

How did you get into bicycling?

Besides it being the thing to do when we where kids.

Maybe you are referring as a adult getting into bicycling. You might want to refer the ibikeu.com Wiki under Sexy for more info on this. It wasn’t nothing more then seeing the air being filthy, experience the bad health effects of growing up in heavy smogged area half the year (the other half the wind blew so hard and much in GH, that it was clear). I wanted to see the air be clean and my thought that since the cars are the major source of air pollution in LA, the best way to not to dirty it up was to ride a bike. So I got me a bike. I wasn’t necessarily crazy about cycling, it was in my eyes, the smartest, most ecological friendly way to transport myself around town. I always hope other would follow suit. I wasn’t until these rides started happening that I actually seen more people ride. As these rides have grown, so have the amount of bikes on the road.

Will you ever ride fixed?

Most likely. Eric Hair painted my Centurion Le Mons frame, the bike I road around for about 3 years before I purchased my Giant. It is now up to me to put it together. It will most likely have breaks that will stay on it. I sincerely doubt that it will ever be my main bicycle, but you never know. If I’m able to get out of the house more, or when I’m able to, I will most like put it together then.

Q: Regarding Fixie Culture? How many years before they all upgrade to mopeds, or whatever? What is the next bike-craze?

Here is the thing I noticed with Fixed gear riders on the streets. They are mostly new (1to2 years riding) to this, and they are mostly young people. I’m not saying everybody who rides a fixed gear on the streets is young or new to this, but the majority are in there 20’s. Being young and in your twenty’s mean that you don’t necessarily have a serious career, family, wife. Etc. Those type of things lead you to avoid doing thing that are unnecessary risk with your life. Things change, you may get a spouse and kid(s) you have to be there for them, or they may not feel comfortable with your transportation choice. As you get older your knees may take a beating also. Many things happen as life progresses

I have seen and heard more people getting into avoidable accidents on break-less fixed gears. A chef at the Bike Kitchen told me was socially ostracized for suggesting that everybody there got in accidents because they didn’t have breaks. It was the breaks that might have avoid the accident in every situation, according this chef.

I just don’t see riding fixed as a longevity thing, but there is SuperCole, but he is not your ordinary cyclist, if you ever been to his pad, you know that the guy, lives, eat, breath, and shits bicycle. He is in his 30’s and I see that guy riding fixed like it is no problem. If you got into this after your 20’s or got into during your 20’s and stay with it into your 30’s I think you might be a life long fixed rider.

I do think there will be a majority of those youngster riding fixed, that will grow up and go on to whatever else for whatever reason. I don’t mean ‘grow up’ to sound condescending, it more of a process of life, where people get into careers and family . Where then certain youthful hobbies or ways, fall by the wayside.

Only time will tell, I would like to be wrong about everything I wrote above. I have seen so many people, young people get into riding, because of the whole fixed gear craze. I think it is a great thing, and would love to see more people riding bikes in general. Whatever works for you, do it.

What will they transition into? I would say a mixtie/ commuter type bikes with baskets and fenders, or taking public transportation or as a last resort, cars if necessary to their situation.. The Velorution is changing the way many of it participants think, about transportation. I do see that no matter what happens with these kids I talk about, they will have learned lesson about smarter transportation choices that will stick with them for life

What is the next bike-craze?

It’s happening right now with the freak bike, tall bikes, bikes that you create in your mind and welded together yourself.

Speaking of tall bikes and what I wrote about fixed. There is this super tall security guard at the local shopping center who rides a tall bike. I saw him last night on a regular commuter bike and asked him "where is your tall bike?" he answered "my girls are worried about me, they won’t let me ride it anymore" I said "why?"
he said "my heart". He is in his mid 50’s
