could you imagine 200 LACM riders with 115db airhorns blasting them all at once?
they're about as expensive as decent lights, and sometimes, an audible distraction is much more noticable than a blinking single led knog light.
and as far as the whistle is concerned, i've tried it, but unless i'm willing to hold the whistle in my mouth for a long period of time (that's what she said) its kind of a bother to have to pick it up because that means i have one less hand on a brake lever to react.

Lesser known obscure traffic law, but in most states, not sure on CA, but whistles are not allowed to be used from vehicles, including from bicycles. Was something I read in bicycling and the law. I think it is so that high decibel whistles are only associated with police and traffic directors.

btw those work great, I got one for an ebike I have. There really aren't that expensive, but if you go down, you can just about bet you'll damage it. They're rather fragile.

I've got the Airzound on my recumbent commuter, and that thing is not only awesome, but has saved my ass from inattentive drivers so many times!
The only down side is on social rides, you will honk the horn constantly, and you will need to refill it often, which isn't hard.
I'm working on creating a pump attached to a disk brake rotor, so it will auto inflate the pump when the wheel spins, and a pressure valve, so it wont over-inflate.

Adam, do you have a 12 volt charger you carry with you? I may have a solid state charger that you can carry with you. It's pretty small and lite. I believe you can even set the voltage it stops charging.
I can take a look tomorrow if you need it.
