What took you so long? I'm already past grouch and steadily working towards curmudgeon. I've gone so far as to trade aluminum/carbon fiber and STI's for steel and barcon's. And I regularly curse at youngsters on fixies who insist on skid stopping in front of me.

I've long maintained that, despite my outward Pollyannaism, deep down I'm a 65-year-old Scottish man, cynical and dressed in tweed. I just cover it up well. (Or not ... I mean, I'm tweeded out in my profile picture, so ... )

I dunno about y'all, but deep down inside, I'm more of 48-55 year old, on-the-verge of retirement, truck-driver who's consistently bitchin' about how easy the job used to be.
I mean, I've only got about a year and a half over-the-road, and I'm already complaining about these rookies that can't even maintain speed while going through a curved, on-ramp.

Hell, I'm kind of glad I shave my head, when it grew out briefly, I swear I was starting to see some speck's of gray.
Could be due to all the shit I've been dealing with over the last year.
Stress does tend to accelerate aging.

I don't know about the over 30 thing, but put enough intellectual content into a ride and it quickly thins out the yahoos who steal beer and tag walls.

I was actually more afraid of what my parents would do to me, than the cops would when I was young.
A little discipline tends to prevent most of, if not all of the fuck-up-age we've been seeing as of late.
Too bad much of the youngsters out on rides seem to think they own the world.
But whatcha gonna do?

I don't think you truly qualify as a grouch around here until you've argued against the irresponsible use of fireworks, railed against the general inability of "kids on fixies" to ride in straight lines on group rides, or bitched about thefts and graffiti on rides. That might make me king grouch. I'll be the one in the jewel-encrusted garbage can throne.
