March 25 beginning at 9 a.m. is this year's edition of the L.A. Wheelmen's Fargo Street Hill Climb. Echo Park's Fargo Street is one of the steepest street in Los Angeles. Though only two blocks on, the incline tops a 30% grade and getting to the top is a true test of skill, will, balance, strength and determination.
This is one of the most unique cycling events in the city -- hell, the world! Come out and support it with your cheers or your participation.
hmm since the wheelmen do it way too early, maybe we need to do a ridazz version, 12 hrs later... instead of a patch for making the hill you get a beer.
People... it STARTS at 9 a.m. but it frickin' doesn't end at 9:01 a.m. The event goes easily into the afternoon enabling at least most of you vampirezz to digest your previous evening's bloodmeal and sleep the morning away and still get your climb on.

LOL! ok ok cool.... uh... One problem... now that daylight savings time has kicked in I find myslef not rolling out of bed till 1pm. you think I could still get a climb in before it's done?
RB, I threw in the towel last year after my second failed attempt but I believe Rollers came and checked it out in the afternoon and there were people still climbing, so I'd say you'd be good to go if you arrived after 1 p.m.
It starts at 9am in Beverly Hills, they don't get to the hill till after 10am. People stay there well into the afternoon, it's super fun just to hang out. Picture is of Brian Davidson (swarm!) getting up it on a tall bike. They wouldn't give him a patch cause he didn't wear a helmet.
Just got back from hanging out at this for a couple of hours. Two guys have been up about about 40 times each, one of them is 62 years old, he did it 50 times last year.
Event goes until 4:30, you late nighters still have tiem to get out there & earn a patch.
could not do it neither, nope. Gets freaky as one slows down, the untrained reaction is to push harder. Do that uncontrolled in the granny gear and the front wheel pops off the ground on that 33 degree hill.... wow.
A noon funeral I had to attend kept me from attempting this year more than twice this morning. Both times I failed... the first time thanks to an inconsiderate entrant who bailed and then parked himself perpindicular to the curb completely fucking clueless that he was blocking my path:
The second time there were no tards in my way, just my lack of technical skill intruded. This is my second year trying and failing. See ya next year Fargo Street.
It gonna be on March 20 this year (2016). They start around 9 am and go to the early afternoon at least. No fee. Show up, sign the waver and take your best shot. Everyone who gets to the top without a footdown gets a patch.
I think they want you to wear a brain bucket.
I crested this street last November during the Feel My Legs ride, so I know I can still do it! Those who still come to this site know how old I am!
