We were working on giving the toys to the "Spark Of Life" holiday toy program.
This is thru the LAFD , we would have to behave for a few minutes when they arrive to collect.
This is unless someone has another cause which would greater benefit.By all means let us know.

Marcus--
Cool , the Westside , handle it .We would like to follow last year's pattern in which we kept the ride shorter than usual since people have to carry gifts and we will usually get newbie ridazz.
Culver City trader Joe's would be a good option.
We'll put you down to come thru on this.
Thanks..
Hit me up with your email.Let us know if you will be doing your own spoke cards or wants us to help you out.
Eric has da hookup and can help us print them if we settle on it ASAP

Knittens will be doing his own ride this winter season, to bring toys, sweaters. and treats to the animal locked away in the pounds. We are also looking for people to take all the "locked down" kitty's and doggy's out of animal jail, to save them from the death needle.
We will be doing a all city animal shelter (stupid euphemisms) ride to all the animal prison. More info coming soon.
Tobby, are you down for helping?

Booked the Tamales today.
They will have Tamales, Beans, Rice, and Champurado, and water.
Veggie/vegan friendly with somethin for the carne lovazz too.
We found this vendor through
Mama's Hot Tamales. This is the same family that hooked it up for the Ride Arc Anniversary ride/party a few months back.

Joe Borfo11.22.07 - 9:01 pm

@fuzzbeast
This is a great ride idea, indeed.
Provided I'm able to get at least Friday night off, I could more than likely do it, and bring a few others with me from the High Plains.
As far as gifts, toys, etc., I'll figure something out.
But remember, this will be one, big "IF" for me if I could get down there.
The company was too understaffed this weekend for me to go down to this weekend's, CruzWithUs.

Gorilla style could work, but we'll need a generator. LA River is definitely a possibility. I'm wondering how responsive Sci Arc would be? I kinda like the idea of being outdoors though. Also asking Alex from Ride Arc could be a possibility. He might have something in mind. Talking to the folks at the Brewery is another one.

Alright kiddies..just came back from a 7 hour scouting session for the spot.I got some good leads
1) went and spoke to vice president of Self Help Graphics(cool guy)
Althougjh there was a volunteer that may have thought we were gonna make money from this since she wanted to charge some crazy $$ we dont have.
Anyways , the guy was cool and we talked. He said we might be able to get the parking structure which is pretty cool and has a stage.
We would need to get
option A
1)Portable restroom
2) generator
note:We probably have to be out of there by midnight.
Option B
1)Inside room(cold?Rain) with power and a little stage that may hold around 300-400 in addition to parking lot to compensate.
This would require us to still get portable restroom and do a collection for some funds for the place(its a community center)
We can wing that till 1am(ish)
if we get there at 10pm ..we would be good.
Also spoke to some really nice people that own a bitching place that they rent out but said they would think about hooking us up but nay end up paying for security (around $200) which they are required to have.I had a long talk and even walked into a OAXACAN saint patron party they were having.I asked them to think hard and I will contact them.
and other 3 leads that I started on..
Wanted to keep everyone updated.
patrick - got your email and yes I will pass over the band to you once confirmed so you guys can deal with system setup.
I have not forgotten who offered to leads the routes..get ready..
We are doing this ..yes we are

The brewery is an art colony on main street. They do have bathrooms available and it's outdoors with a covered space. I think we had some event there way back at the beginning of the bike scene. It was more or less a using the gallery space for our show. There's a big plaza type space that would accommodate us. Being that there's alot of artist there, we could have an easier time getting approved.

User111.28.07 - 1:54 pm

I don't wanna be a naysayer but I think we should also be on the lookout for something other than the Brewery.
Last time we were there we were the guest of a gallery where we were having an exhibit. I think it went over well, but this event is a different kind of monster. For one, we didn't really have a full sized soundsystem at the Art Ride.
The Brewery has a lot of residents, and people who work there at all hours and I have a feeling that our "rockin' till the breakadawn" hijinx might no go over so well with everybody concerned.
This is also taking into consideration that the site we used last yer got cleaned up nice and well and left our hosts satisified.
Massive props to those working on the Brewery and other sites but it is my humble opinion that this should be a back up site and not a location of first choice.
Sorry this didn't occour to me sooner.

The ride in from Claremont from Pasadena is pretty cool with the long gentle downhill - I did it a couple of weeks ago.

I think the satellite rides should aim for arriving at Olvera St. by 10:00. If the schedule is to arrive at 10:30 then we might not make it out of Olvera 'till after 11 PM. Delays are particularly likely considering the number of satellite rides.
I'd be happy to help with the Pasadena Satelite ride and help make spoke cards.
My suggestion is to leave Pasadena at 8:30 PM. Meet up with Highland Park at 9:15. Get to Olvera St. by 10:00 PM.
Also, how about meeting at Memorial Park which is just a bit north of Central Park? Then we could cruise through Old Town Pasadena to start off the ride.
Please put on the event page:
If your driving to the Pasadena starting point and concerned about the 24-mile round trip, consider parking your car at the Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park metro station and taking the metro to the starting point. The Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park metro station is only 4 miles from Self Help Graphics and there is free parking. (Note that the goldline stops running north from Union Station at around 11:50 PM.)

VALLEY RIDAZZ - Meet at North Hollywood Metro Line at 7:30pm, We are planning to leave at 8:00pm sharp! This allows us plenty of time if we want to take a break or fix a flat or get something to eat. We will also see if we can meet up with another group before Olvera St.
Here is the route:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1485477
Returning back:
Option 1: Last train leaving the Union Station to North Hollywood is 11:33pm!! (this seems way too early)
Option 2: Some of us should drive and leave some cars at the end point, so we have a ride back
Option 3: Have a friend pick us up at 1:30 in the morning
Option 4: Ride back, this will be a slight upgrade, but doable.

The Pasadena leg will meet up in Central Park across from the Del Mar Gold Line station.
In order to make it to the NELA departure by 9:15, we need to roll at 8:30 sharp. There will probably be people meeting up around 8:00.
Eric -
We looked at Memorial Park when we scouted last year, but Central Park is a significantly better location for everything from easy booze access to distance from the police station to parking for those who don't ride to the start point. And, given how @#$^%*& early we have to start this ride, there's not really any extra time to spend in old town.
I'm planning to scout the route (at least to the NELA point, maybe all the way downtown) tonight or tomorrow. Anybody interested in doing it with me? There WILL be drinking involved.

The pace is pretty chill.
A long distance can be a bit of a work out for anybody riding a beach cruiser or other heavy bike.
The pace is totally managable for less seasoned ridas.
These rides will probally have less and shorter stops because we are on a schedule.
If total newbies are coming out you might want to think about starting from hollywood or highland park for a pretty chill ride and it should be pretty easy getting back to the start point if you are have a car there.
Both of those start points are near metro stations but you will have to skip most of the afterparty if you want to catch the last metro.

In regards to "How do we get back home/start points"
Personal experience- its been so much fun when we've spent the night out on the streets necuase we couldnt get back somewhere till morning..although weather is a factor in this ride..
You can find a way..
Previously I have driven a car to end point or closest metro station then rode or jumped on train to start point and simpl jumped in my car afer ride.
I have roamed the streets in San Francisco weather till morning came up..the best.
Partied all night outside with the crew.
Guys I know I metioned "urban camping" only because many may end up in this situation and we dont want you to miss out on the festivities to catch a train..Would any one do it if we find a spot?

unless i am reading it wrong, which i might be, it looks like the metro lines 4 and 33/333 run through the early morning hours. picking up within a few miles of the party around 1:30 ish or 2:30ish etc. i will be wanting to get back to santa monica so i was looking at those routes specifically but... others could be operating as well. please let me know if i am wrong about all this
look here for timetables and maps in pdf: http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bus_overview/bus001.htm

Can we finish 3 kegs in about 2 hours???
deesimple12.11.07 - 11:30 pm

There are only 160 beers (12 oz each) in a keg. That means the first 480 ridazz will each get one beer and get to explain to the rest of us that we don't get any.
Don't worry about finishing three kegs. Worry about the riot after we run out.

Dee,
I know this is last minute, and I may be wrong about this.
I haven't been reading this thread to see if this has been mentioned, but forgive me if it has
So take it as possibility not necessarily that it is this way.
Last year when we went to Olvera Street Plaza there was no security, as I remember hassling us. Last time I was at Olveral Street Plaza on the weekend, there was security, although it was about 11pm, (that may or may not matter) . They insisted that I leave, that the area was closed.
Just mentioning this, in case this is the situation. Ridazz get there and get kicked out, where should one go if this is what happens. Maybe go over to the side of the train station across the street. I hope this doesn't happen.
Sorry to mention this here. I Tried to myspace message you, but it wouldn't allow me to do so.

Warm fuzzy Santa hats at 99 cent store on Sunset in Hollywood, the upside they cost 99 cents!
I am wearing a helmet, and have attached my Santa hat to my helmet. using safety pins and string, through the air vent holes. It kind of looks like the Grinch santa hat that way. A little disheveled.
Can't find a toy? Rite Aid, yes the one on Vermont where we will start the ride, has an assortment of toys from $9.99 to $19.99. Cool stuff like remote control monster trucks and dolls that giggle and talk. Just get there early and pick one up. Be warned, carry a large backpack or messenger bag. Some of these toys are in two foot boxes.

on getting back to the west side:
Your 3 best options (not in order)
1) ride back
2) take the bus
3) ride to union station (across from olvera st) and catch the redline to the western most point that works for you, then see #1 or #2
If you have a posse riding back will be fun and the minutes will just melt away. If you are rollin solo, the bus won't be so bad. Bus and bike are great. Odds are since you are near downtown you will be able to ride to a bus that will get you there in 1 go. (or get you to a spot where you can easily ride home).
The bus is fast at night and the thing that sucks about the bus is waiting on the bus, if you work it out so you show up on time and don't have to make any connections there'll be little or no waiting in cold and you'll get home pretty quick.
MTA.NET
Don't forget there is only 2 bikes allowed on the bus so don't forget to ditch your bike buddies if you plan to catch a bus home.

My crew is pretty much dead to me, too chickenshit to go it without me.
Take plenty of pictures and video as I would.
And party-hearty!!!
Oh, and here's a little send-off from an ARNG friend of mine.
T'was the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Everybody felt shitty
Even the mouse
Mom at the Whorehouse
And Dad smoking grass
I'd just settled down
for a nice piece of ass
When out on the lawn
I heard such a clatter
I sprung from my piece
To see what was the matter
Then out on the lawn
I saw a big dick
I knew in a moment
It must be Saint Nick
He came down the chimney
Like a Bat out of Hell
I knew in a moment
The fucker had fell
He filled our stockings
With pretzels and beer
And a big rubber dick
For my brother, the Queer
He rose up the chimney
With a thunderous fart
The son of a bitch
Blew the chimney apart
He swore and he cursed
As he rode out of sight
Piss on you all
And have a Hell of a night
