It does bring to light a question that has been bugging me a lot recently: why do so many pedestrians think it's okay to walk down the middle ... not even the side edge or anything, but the effin' middle... of a BIKE PATH that is clearly marked every hundred yards, in gigantic capital letters, BIKES ONLY, including a picture for children, ESL students and morons, even when there is a huge beach, a nice grassy stretch, and a boardwalk available for them? How stupid do you have to be? Amirite?

(1) THAT RIDE LOOKS TOO EASY. Try it with a surfboard under your arm. That's how I used to do it when I was growing up and riding that same route to the beach.
(2) SHUT UP ABOUT PEOPLE WALKING ON THE BIKE PATHS ALREADY. I've been listening to bike riders complain about this for decades now. It's a mess. We get it. Everybody gets it. It sucks. Talk to the County Supervisors or leave the issue alone. It gets worse in summer as the ratio of stupid tourists grows. It's just another sidewalk with a bike painted on it, man.

Agreed. Its a mess and it's pointless to fuss about walkers in the bike path. There's just too many people down there and they're always going to spill over into the bike path and/or not realize/care it's a bike path.
Even worse than the walkers are the self-entitled pussy weekend warrior road bikers that shout at walkers and get all annoyed they can't ride fast on the bike path. If they want to ride fast, then get off the damn bike path and onto the road where the lycra belongs!! That bike path is for cruisers bikes, not real riding.

was this a handlebar mount? looks to be the case, since the camera looks lower than it would on a helmet cam. i would imagine that the video would come out more bumpy if mounted on the bars than on the helmet. i guess not as noticeable with the faster frames and (perhaps) image stabilization technology?

A bike path is not a sidewalk. It is a bike path. That's why it's called a bike path, and not a sidewalk.
What I'm getting from this is that if enough people do the wrong thing, and have been doing it for long enough, you just stop caring? Better sell my bike and get back in the car, then, because people have been ruining this city with car culture for more than sixty years and I should stop whining about it.
And sorry, I wasn't there for the decades that you've spent listening to people whine about this. It's the first time I've whined about it so give me a break.

no need to get all worked up. everything is going to be alright man.
but a weekend or two ago i took the beach cruiser out and was riding that bike path low and slow and this big ass dude in spandex was trying to set speed skating records on his rollerblades and would yell at everyone in his way. what a dick. of all days, expect people in to be using the bike path in full force on a Sunday.

Yeah it was a handlebar mount, the speeding up of the video smooths it out alot. I added a pic of the mount.

looks good man (camera setup as well as bike). the camera also does have some sort of image stabilization capabilities during recording, right?
