has anyone ever used "poverty" bike parts? i was thinking of buying this seat post, but i thought i should ask around first.

nevermind, they only have one size. it's for my fixed gear.

as far as i can tell, the difference is just a style and weight issue. does anyone know anything about this?

if you just want something cheap and functional. they have a black one too. you might have to saw a couple inches off the bottom if your bike has bottle cages on the seattube.

its a cool name, but "poverty" is in the name its bottom of the barrel cheap n heavy super low budget.

that sounds great. is it a 26.8? the problem i'm having is that i think my frame is a size to big for me. my current seatpost has a lot of offset and my seat is as far forward as it will go, so i'm trying to find a seatpost with the smallest amount of offset. i was looking at two-bolt seatposts because i'd be able to put my seat farther forward.

get a shorter stem maybe if you think your bike is too long.

i already have the shortest stem i can get. still, spending $30 on a new seat post is a lot better than $200 on a new bike, then having to transfer all the parts over. i've had three bike shops all tell me my frame was too big, without prompting.
lesson learned: never shop at bike attack.

I have yet to encounter a pushy bike shop that is trying to sell me something that most likely will not be suited for my needs. I guess once the shop gets to know you they will offer other alternatives and save you some money. Just a thought....Disregard..

i've heard from a few people that have had similar experiences from Bike Attack. in my personal opinion, the owner Ericson has no respect for his customers. before my purchase, he eyballed me standing over the bike and said "i do this all the time! i can tell!" when i went back a week later to tell him that i thought he hadnt fitted me properly, he proceeded to talk shit about the other three bike shops in the area that had suggested i had been sold too large of a frame.
i havent encountered a pushy bike shop since. it really is just them.

When I bought my first complete bike at a bike shop they were really friendly and told me how there is a bunch of different geometry involved in bikes, which at the time I did not know, and I thank them for it because I ended up with a bike that I enjoy riding. That is a bit of a disappointment when bike shops take advantage of the fact that we take their word for it when we are looking to buy a bike.
