YOU GUYZ SHOULD START DOING OUR RIDES, WE DO YOURS ALL THE FUCKIN TIME, GET STUCK IN NO MANS LAND, HAVING TO MAKE IT BACK TO EAST LOS, AND ALL POINTS EAST OF DOWNTOWN.
TIME TO SUPPORT THE EAST SIDE, TIME TO SHOW SOME RIDA LOVE.

I for one love the East Side rides. Riding downtown is awesome and some great views. Plus the level of fun to interference with police ratio is almost nil.
On the other hand, when i'm feeling lazy, its awfully nice to just go on a ride near my place and bail with easy access home.

Sorry, the downtown and east side rides are great but I don't live there. It's a MAJOR pain to get there and back so why bother if there are rides right in my neighborhood? Party rides especially, I don't want to get toasted and then have to bike back an hour alone at 2 in the morning just to get home. Fthat. This is decentralization in action.

FUCK THE EAST SIDE
When I and a few others started riding a year and a half ago there was only ONE (1) ride on the west side and that was SMCM. I rode over to echo park or hollywood 2 nights a week minimum to go riding. Some weeks I would ride back and forth everyday on SMB.
Your turn, fight back with innovation! You have the population the density, the history, and the lack of police. Start some competing rides... To quote one of our favorite bike cities "FUCK YOU, Do it better" I know you can.

funny story.. i grew up riding brakeless in lbc and i have never had any problems with police.. infact i have had cops talk to me when im walking my bike about getting into riding.. so ha.

I've never had a sinus infection my whole life, I blame it on the air quality near downtown LA. I do try to make it out to Koreatown/Downtown about once or twice a month, but only at night. Yeah, the people are more lively near downtown, but it's grimeeyyyyy. God needs to come through with his big ass hose and spray DTLA down.
Yea, we have the dick cops in WeHo, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, but we also have that ocean breeze... Makes it hard to leave.

I love riding everywhere and I love not paying attention to where I'm riding; just riding.
"So, where did you ride this weekend?"
"Uhh... I don't really know. I know we met at Hollywood and La Brea... and then I remember at some point hustling through some rich kids place and then uhh getting to an ultimate party ride... and then ending up at a Boston Market and then ending up in Downtown. So uhh... Yeah. I just rode around town. Not really sure."

Yeah, I used to never know where I was going, and then the challenge was getting back in one piece, hopefully before sunrise. I loved it.
Now, I find that I know where I am more and more. It's pretty awesome.
As for westsidazz never going east, there's an easy reason why. Once upon a time, the westsidazz used to always have to head east if they wanted to go on a ride. So they started their own. It just turned out that they were too good at it, and now all the eastsidazz want to come to the westside ridezz. Sorry.
... Not really.
For the record, no one's holding a gun to anyone's head to come to westside ridezz. Switch it up, go westside one ride then eastside the next. Then, you get the best of both worldzz.

I grew up here in l.a. and MOST ridazz are out of state/area transplants. Personally I like riding in DTLA, East L.A., mid city, and surrounding areas East of La Cienega. Westside is nice to live in, but I prefer the older areas of L.A. that have nice old buildings and a little bit of history.
That's why I like SNS, chinatown mosey, and just about any other ride in the areas east of La Cienega.

Seriously though, this debate is silly. There are plenty of rides and ridazz in the east and the west and the SFV. Among the most active riders, only a few people cling religiously to one side of town. And if they do, well, that's their loss...

Okay, well the other problem I have with this War Of Idealogy is the fact that the WestSide and the EastSide aren't even that far away from each other.
I breeze all the way through both zones on my way to the Westside without any problems, if I'm tired, I sleep on the grass, someones couch, or on the bus.
Follow my lead and the lives of y'all sista's will be easy!!
Now, onto a bigger, uglier, 800 lb Gorilla of a question?!?!??!!!!!
Are the Westside and the Eastside man enough to venture towards the Inland Empire (Rancho Kookymonger., San Berdo, s'Upland, Fontucky, only. Riverside is too far South to be a central location.), or, God-Forbid, the High-Desert(Victimville, Hicksperia, CrAphOLE Valley, Ghettolanto)?

I love livin on the westside, but i also love bikeing up in noho dtla area, but then again who am i to say, i really dont go on any rides with many people i truly love riding my bike solo or with a few of my good childhood friends listen to some nice slow jams and just set my own pace. maybe one day ill go ona ride :)

Sorry, I'm a weakling. : After a ride on the westside I can cruise home easy, but to go to the eastside, ride around, and then ride all the way back is too much for me. Maybe if I trained hardcore more often it'd be a breeze, but for now I just ride downtown when I need to hop on the train.

I agree, the westside sucks. If I didn't have to go to school, I'd never go over there. Except for the new Venice skatepark, damn it's so fucking good... Does Venice count as the westside? The westside is bland, full of chain stores, and pretentious people. I think the real L.A. starts at least east of 405.
