I'm down for finishing at Scoops, but only if everyone else wants to too! There are enough ice cream opportunities along the route that I can get my fix =)

This is one of the toughest 30 miles you can ride in Los Angeles

Is this going to be harder that Big GMR to Baldy Village? ROOT RUN killed me last night so I'm going to be a slowpoke on Sat.

Don't worry about the ride...just go. Mind is a fully capable rider, a good planner, and he's good at keeping the group happy. I'm glad he's doing this ride. I so want to go, and I am working on changing plans and freeing up the time to go along.
If he says it's one of the hardest rides you can do in LA county, then I am inclined to believe him. And, I'm looking forward to the challenge and hanging with the crew. Thanks again, Mind.

I wouldn't worry about your pace, this is just a training ride. Were not going balls out. It will be hard but I guarantee you'll have more fun on this route than you could imagine. Just think about the downhills and we will never leave anyone behind.

If I didn't have to sit and have make-up applied to my face for two hours on Saturday, I'd be there.
This route will rule. Go.

Also, i hate to be negative (and i love ya ijunes) but are you ever gonna schedule a ride that doesn't conflict with another one of the same genre? lol...
Lance K10.2.08 - 4:56 pm
reply
haha no i didnt mean to schedule a conflict.
and mine is going to me much tougher and cancelled in the event of rain.
the last thing anybody wants is 45+ mph down topanga 15% banked 2 lane road in the rain.
my ride wasn't much bigger so we were going to follow you guys until you hit the bike path, and turn back and head over topanga.
and i do about 60-70 miles everyday on saturday anyways, i'm just posting it so whoever wants to come along can come, doesnt stop me from doing my weekend warrior thang.

and also, coincidentally, my ride post id number is 1862 vs 1863, and if this site is designed to hand out those numbers sequentially which i am sure about, my ride was up first :-D
but who gives a fwack.

I feel you ijunes...but one of the crew posted a ride. I am obligated to my people. I am so glad you are flexible enough to come along and continue your route. Maybe I will take the longer route with you.
You are a new jack, but you have heart...and you are turning into a strong rider. You have some sense about you, and your rides are fun. I fully support your rides, man.
And, for the record, ijunes posted this first...and he put it this day to make room for the DarkCen Metric and the Dark Century.
So...actually...I think I will do both rides. I will start with Mind and end with ijunes. Okay...done.

Hey ijunes, not trying to rain on your parade man. This ride post was supposed to go up after our first Dark century training ride. That's my fault. I had already spoken with the few who were on that ride about getting in a couple of hill rides before the actual Dark cen ride.
I have to agree with tern that there is a certain loyalty when it comes to the establishment of the Dark Century rides. To make it fair, I'm willing to move my training ride to sunday morning if anyone is interested in doing both rides.
let me know and we can coordinate it. By the way, I overslept last weeks Value meal ride. I had every intention on doing it but i got in from the Peoples ride last friday night at 4 in the morning.
So, let's work it out. Be warned though that my 30 mile route, is no joke. On the map it looks innocent but trust me. It's the Monster rollercoaster ride(ups, downs and plenty room for speed)
Side note: A metric century, Dark cen training ride will be coming soon per tern but that hasn't been posted yet.
Also I may post another training ride depending on the feedback from everyone who rides this weekend. Sat or Sun of the following week.

ALL DCTRers
PLEASE WEAR A HELMET TOMORROW
It will be raining tonight, and the roads will be slick!
Also check your tire pressures as well. Pump it 10-15 psi less than you normally would ride.keep it around 95-115. This wil allow more of your tire surface to actually sit on the ground and give you much better traction sacrificing a bit of the rolling factor
If you have higher TPI tires, those would be excellent.

mind, how long do you think this training ride will take? gotta get home and showered and then to the Detour fest downtown...

if were lucky we should be done by 2p We leave no one behind and this ride has a few hills that will probably slow the ride down a bit. Plus we'll make at least 2 fuel stops.

Great ride today! Shame there weren't more people who braved the rain to come out b/c the weather was perfect for all those hills.
And of course, we *had* to end at Scoops. Yum!!!
Thnx, Wayne!
