Pasadena Critical Mass

Pasadena Critical Mass is now on 3rd Saturdays at 10 AM. This ride is easy paced, social ride with possibilities of picnics or lunch after the ride. It's a good ride for slower riders, younger riders, older riders, daylight cruisers, or anyone in or near Pasadena that wants to ride in solidarity with others advocating for the rights of bicycles on the streets of Pasadena.

running at (10:00) day-light hours will definitely attract the good-people around pasadena, but alas, no drinking or smoking on this one (thank god!), seems like a reprieve from the previous two-night riding i do, so you can count me in and ill be on my best behavior!

It was a nice ride on Sunny Saturday morning. We had 3 kids, ages 6 to 8 years-old join us along with seven adults.
The traffic was pretty calm as is usual at this hour. We rode through Old Town and the South Lake district, and ended a Central Park. The kids enjoyed the ride, though the highlight was probably laying tag and climbing on the playground equipment. Some of the parents joined in for tag.
Thanks to those who came and made it a fun event.

Should be a great day at the Urban Commuter Bike Expo.
I'm hoping that the Pasadena Critical Mass encounters the exp 10 AM UCBE ride - actually, I'm hoping we're riding one direction down colorado blvd, and the other ride comes the other way. Then we can cheer eachother on as we pass.
Then we'll make a U-turn and follow them to the expo.

It was nice to:
-Meet the few who were willing to arrive (and stay) on such a hot day.
-Finally get to take my little girl on a ride.
-Relax with a picnic lunch in the relatively cool shade, compared to the heat of the ride, itself.
-Have Alice spot Dingo's picture on the main page here and call him "Bingo!"

Bellman, are you in Pasadena? I often ride with my daughter(s) in Pasadena on weekend mornings.

There were nine us us for a short while, but three bugged out to do their own ride shortly before the rest of us got going.
Dingo was the only one who had done this ride before, so he stepped up and took us on a short circuit (~4 mi?) north of Colorado.
As for me, I'm up in Tujunga, but am willing to drive down to Pasadena to make this ride for the chance to take Alice along with, not sure what other family friendly rides there are in my neighborhood.

@DeKadenzy
I have a tandem in storage in Glendale near the 2 & 134 fwys. It's a 1970's Schwinn Twin, not in great shape - but ridable (seats no too comfortable, brakes sort of work). Just fine if your not going too far or fast.
You could borrow it if you want. Let me know - 714-906-8686.

Hey guys.. Just wondering what the turnout is usually like for this ride. Two of my friends I haven't seen in a while wanted to meet up and ride bikes this Saturday and it just so happens this ride is at the same time. Also.. do the riders pretty much determine this route on the fly or is there already a standard route?
Thanks in advance!

There were 16 last month.. this month 11 have RSVP'd but people show up with telling anyone they're coming.. so there will probably be more.
I'm pretty sure the group decided to ride to the CICLE Harvest Ride, which would be a nice scenic route through the arroyo.
Meetup is by the kids play area in the park.
FYI.. the pace is decided by the slowest rider so it's usually quite slow.

PASADENA HOLIDAY BIKE RIDE
I'm planing a special all-ages event for the holiday season. I'm looking for ideas and for volunteers that can help out.
Some ideas for the event:
* Barbeque / potluck
* Bike obstacle course - something easy enough for little ones to do
* Games: Tug-of-war, jump rope, sack-race
* Face painting
* Bike decorating
* Foot down
* Mini bike rides - instead of one long ride, have several short rides, all starting from Memorial Park. This would be good for people of various biking levels. Ride a little, or ride several times.
If you have ideas or can help out, let me know. Post here or contact me eric -at- einem -dot- us, 714-906-8686.
