In related news, I read recently that the Power Rangers franchise was bought back to it's original owner from Disney. I had no clue Power Rangers was bought by Disney in the first place. I hope they do a remake of the original show. This show was probably one of my favorite shows growing up and I'm sure alot of people grew up watching this show as well.

The one that BLAHER posted is a meet up connecting ride that goes to the official ride.
Usually when you see a recognized ride name with arrows pointing to another recognized ride name, it means one ride leader is taking his ride to someone else's ride to connect the two.

Right in the middle of the park.
The ride will end at the start.
I'm shooting to be back a little bit before 2am.
There will be only two stops. The second stop will feature the band PROFESSOR CALCULUS.
Also very important.
THERE WILL BE NO LIQUOR STOPS! NONE.

I have to agree with you 100%.
Some of the riders there were just plain ignorant acting little children tonight.
There was a group of YOUNG kids riding next to me at the first portion of the ride, I could tell they were gonna fuck up, and hard. They brought little plastic bats to the ride, and were swinging them around and doing stupid shit while surrounded by the pack.
20 seconds after I have that thought, some little shit face decides to use his plastic bat to tap the back of a car that was going in the opposite direction. A car going the other way that has nothing to do with us, that is already waiting patiently because we take up the whole road.
It was a gentle tap, and not harm was done to the car... But WTF. I was pissed that some kid would show up with a bat and start doing this shit, so I made sure to discourage any further bullshit like that.
This is also the same group of kids that were accused of stealing alight from my dear Uncle Richard.

Goose,

Who were they?
I had showed up late to PPP, met some folks who rode in from south central.
We took of in search of the ridazz, and found you guys just pulling in to Rite Aide.
That band & location was awesome too.
I wish I could same for the dude with a Taco Tuesday shirt & a ponytail who was bullying some little kids to tears because they were standing near his bike when his back light got stolen and they fit the "kushtown profile".
If you are going to accuse somebody of theft and threaten them, you should have some evidence.
Other than that., I met a lot of great people and had a great night out.
Thanks Ridazz.

Keep in mind that nobody SAW the kids still the light.
And a 13 yo kid started crying when he was accused of something he didn't do and a buch of older guys kept insisting they were thieves (but couldn't locate the EXACT thief) and were threatening to fuck them up and steal their bikes over a fucking bike light.
When i was 13 (25 years ago) I was accused of doing shit I didn't do and I cried too.
Why is crying in public not OK for a little kid.
But its OK for a grown man to bully a little kid?

Im sorry trickmilla your the man, but i have to disagree with you on the "bullying" thing. Because that was same group of kids that was causing all the problems last night.
Not to mention I saw someone pass the "tearing kid" a knife at the next stop right after hearing him say "We should shank this foo right now!"
Im just happy it didn't escalate into something bigger than it was.

Look,
I'm came late and i didn't see everything that happened.
But if kids are witnessed doing stupid, un-acceptable shit
then they should be checked, individually for their individual actions.
But, after the shouting and accusations and denials went on for a while I asked a simple question. Who stole your light? and Did you see them? Were there any witnesses?
Not one person would step up to say, "I SAW _______ STEAL THE LIGHT"
As far as the knife, I heard about that, but never saw it.
Shanking somebody is obviously never OK.
But I could see a kid wanting to have a weapon if a grown man was threatening to steal his bike.

my comment on how there's kids crying on rides is a comment on the maturity level of these riders...... most kids that young really dont think about how their actions affect them or everyone, which worries me about the maturity level of people we're attracting on the rides. these kids, who dont think about their actions, were the ones hitting cars with bats and passing shanks apparently..... that's all i'm saying.... i've never seen a grown, clear-thinking man cry in a situation like that..... and i'm still convinced it was them. although you are absolutely right that we dont nor ever will know. and that's the end of that.

reply
These are little kids, and if we are going to let little kids ride with us, or ride with us conditionally, then we should be prepared to check them when they are acting in an age appropriate fashion.
And while everything that those kids are suspected and accused of doing is 100% in line with the maturity level of how kids that age tend to act.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Uncle Richard and how he acted based on his suspicions (and fair enough, the previous actions by those kids).
Some of the actions of some of those kids are clearly unacceptable.
I just think it would be much more appropriate to approach them, in a stern but peacful way, as individuals, based on their individual actions.
Ideally.
I appreciate, everything everybody does to shepherd a big ride through the city and balance all the competing interests that one has to balance.
Perhaps it is time for us to start being a little more proactive about dealing with kids.
Before past grievances pile up into the hectic and unacceptable situation.
For those who did their part, however small to diffuse the situation, I applaud you.
For those who did their best, in a weird and confusing scenario, and everybody else who was cool that night. Respect due.

thanks for the ride.. i brought my cousin and his friend out last night to this ride for their first group bike ride. they got tired very fast and were struggling but they still had a great experience.
yes there was a somewhat younger crowd than usual.. but whatever, they don't really bother me, kids are kids, they do stupid shit all the time and i'm not going to parent them :p
i have to say the pace of the ride was medium to fast paced... slower people like my cousin had difficult staying together with the pack.. i could TOTALLY see tall-bikes getting lost and left behind which sucks a lot. it was okay for me because i had experience i was going back and forth between the pack and my friends to make sure they made the turns they had to when they were far apart.
to the ride organizers: when the riders are many and the speed is fast, it tends to thin out and become really long...
two times cops intervened early on in the ride (you wouldn't have even know this happened if you were near the front).. the bicyclists in the back had to stop at the red lights and this caused them to get further behind. and obviously if you don't have safety in numbers you can't blow through red lights anymore as easily and you'll only get further and further from the pack...
so.. i think regrouping needs to happen more often (basically just a complete stop for 2 minutes) in places that are safe to do so and won't impede traffic for these large rides.
i was putting myself in the shoes of people who were very far in the back and it seems like when they are behind it is adding anxiety to them never being able to catch up to the fast pack, so anyway, just something to think about!
i don't really agree with some of the comments above that this was a bad ride.. i thought there was a lot of good interaction between myself and other bicyclists and also... the route was AWESOME..
i love the excitement of blowing through the thick nightlife of hollywood traffic and flying down from sunset down south.. also what was that really cool endless alleyway/narrow road we were on? very awesome!

I really enjoyed the ride. Riding needs were satisfied, music needs were satisfied, and I even got to make a few new friends, one of which just made my riding experience that much moar memorable.

my 2 cents...
It would be nice if some of the riders would have a little courtesy to call out hazards and most importantly brake checks. way too many people were not signaling when slowing down and thus causing accidents. i've had my tire blown from someone rear ending me in my earlier days, so i've learned. this shit is serious, and serious injury can occur if we don't respect the game.

Fun ride, alright pace, cool bikes, stupid little kids. When we made the first stop at the fountain, those little kids were sitting next to us, smoking weed, drank a four loko, and then started wrestling and almost knocking over our bikes that were sitting upside down next to each other. After that, the little kid accused of stealing the lights kept walking around to nicer bikes and inspecting them (possibly looking to steal them or grab parts?). I remember him specifically going up to the blue (xmas light bikes?) and turning the front light on and off and I yelled at him, but he didn't stop. About a minute later was when the whole confrontation started. Just my 2 cents.
Self-policing DOES work. I yelled at a lot of people riding on the wrong side and not letting cars pass. The only crazy part of the whole ride was that hill with the death poles off of sunset. Crazy but fun. Good ride overall, but I think the LONG stop at CVS was unnecessary.

I thought the ride was fun. Always an adventure with that many people and props to everyone who helped put it together and I saw they all were making a great effort to help things go smoothly. Keep up the great work! And that spot including the band was pretty dope. And kids will be just that, kids. Yeah some are annoying as fuck and just don't know any better but I feel it's somewhat up to more experienced riders to let them know what's up. They're always going to be at rides so instead of bitching about it, try to fill them in on what they don't get. my humble opinion. Ride on

@trickmilla
PLEASE READ;
Toney Would Go
06.12.10 - 2:21 pm
Thank Again Toney (he actually told me that at the time Uncle Richard's light had been stolen)
Trust me, those kids were the thieves that stole Uncle Richard's $60 rear light. We had just moved our bikes and in less than 2 minutes the rear light was gone and those kids moved 30 yards away. Not to mention that they had bikes that we way too big for them and that a few of them did not have front or rear lights, and the ones that did have a front lights that were taped on to the handlebars. It does not take a genius to realize how a light goes missing within 2 minutes around a group of kids on extremely oversized bicycles.
I was riding near the kid in the grey hoodie when his homie rode up to him and passed him the box cutter knife, then the lil shit said "I gonna shank that fool". I wonder why they would be carrying box cutter exacto knives? maybe to cut off front and rear lights that take too long to actually take off the right way, ummmm just maybe.
Maybe you (trickmilla) should step up sometime and be the person that attempts to stop some of this bullshit thievery and tagging on rides. Can you do that?????
Anyways, I understand the frustration that Uncle Richard feels and I too am tired of having rides become a pick-a-part or new bike center for these piece of shit thieves. They need to fuck off and go spend some time in jail, regardless of their age.

First off,
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH to everyone who came out last night! You guys made my first ride I lead very memorable and enjoyable. Leading 300+ of you crazy fuckers was defiantly one of the highlights of my life.
THANK YOU SAM, for helping me with the amazing route we both collaborated on and one of my favorite routes I've done.
OSnap and the rest of the MOMs.. Thank you again for helping lead and staying in front of the pack..
SHOUT OUT to PROFESSOR CALCULUS for an AMAZING performance!! Thank you guys for coming on a week notice and rocking out to the most PERFECT spot for a band to play at.
To the little kids on the ride that caused problems. This may come to shock to people but... don't hate on them.
I didn't see what happen so I can not point fingers on anyone but yelling, shouting, and making people cry (although that one funny as shit) doesn't solve any problems. It creates more problems. I'm really sorry UncleRichard got his light stolen again. It is very frustrating for something of yours that you worked hard in getting gets stolen. I for one know that feeling of getting shit stolen from you.
I talked to both ends to calm everyone down. Even the little kids. I was very respectful in talking to them and told them we don't steal from each other. And they understood that. I thanked them for coming and the showed respect to me back. Even offered them beer but they declined.
Kids will be kids. We were all annoying shit heads at one point of our lives. We all learn. I think respectfully letting the kids that come to our rides know what's up, and just making them feel welcome, will hopefully make them understand not to certain things.
Last night I thought I did a good job keeping everything in order for my first go at it. No one got hurt, and no one died so I say it was a success!
Again to everyone who came out, THANK YOU again. Had so much fun. Can't wait to do it again.

Yes, kids will be kids, BUT kids around the age of 13 drinking alcohol, stealing stuff from other ridazz, and running around with box cutter talking about "shanking fools" is not the reason I have wanted to apart of Midnight Ridazz.
Those same kids came to Taco Tuesdays "The Uncle Richard Ride" a few months ago and when we ended up at Cinco de Mayo (it was a long ride to the end of the bike path in Palos Verdes), they did have even a buck to buy food. So what does my dumb ass do? Buy them tacos and a drink to share. How are we rewarded for helping out some of the younger generation and welcoming them into the group....

@UncleRichard
I did not see everything. But I did not see "nothing" either.
What I did see when I rode up, is you stashing a weapon of some sort (perhaps pepper spray?)
under your shirt, and heard you and a friend talking about one of the kids having a shank.
Then I saw you yelling at a kid half your size and half your age looking really sad and start crying.
When people were asking him what's up he said that he had been pushed multiple times and that "they" were trying to take his bike.
I personally saw you say things like "what if I steal your lights" and "what if I take your bike".
I saw you accusing 2 kids of stealing one light, which really isn't possible.
I asked you a simple question.
One that you were unwilling answer.
"Did you or anyone SEE them take your light Did anybody see them take your light"
Your response was that you "knew" that they took your light.
So I basically had issues with a few your actions.
Threatening little kids with taking their stuff, showing them you had some sort of weapon tucked under your shirt as a form of a threat, and badgering them until they started crying. When those kids were badgered to tears, this was supposed to be evidence that they were guilty.
I thought you were overly aggressive considering the situation.
Losing property, simply does not condone violence or threatening violence.
Especially when there is a shred of doubt as to who it to blame.
I think if you were 100% certain who took it, you would have handled it then and there with out all the shouting and accusations.
The fact that their earlier stupid, childish, and dangerous behavior is being used as some sort of evidence against them (again only 1 person took the light) indicates to me that these kids, on some level, were ripe for blame, because they had been seen doing some much other stupid shit.
What I am saying, is call those kids out for the stupid shit they ARE doing not on the the stupid shit your are pretty sure they did.
@godmode,
my apologies for dropping the K-Bomb ...
I heard some "Kush Town" mumblings about those kids that night.
I have know idea id they do or don't go on the ride, but I did get the feeling that they were being profiled as being Kush Town and that as much as anything else was one reason why they were raising so much suspicion.
--------------
I have had my shit stolen by riders (Ridazz don't steal from eachother) a $150 light,
had a busted as light ripped off my bike the same night as well as my friend's wheel getting jacked.
I've never really worked up the extra dough to replace that light, and I truly miss it.
I know the frustration. And I appreciate that.
I consider The Ridazz to be my extended family (I know thats very quaint idea that is very 2000s) and for all of our faults, what have more than anything for my fellow ridazz is love.
I have a great deal of love an respect for Midnight Ridazz. When I see shit happening, I try to determine what is going down, and if necessary do what I can to help protect the culture and spirit of Midnight Ridazz, and of course that would extend to dealing with anybody who I saw stealing from a ridaa or disrespecting a ride in any number of ways.
I watched and listened for several minutes last night and waited for a long time before speaking up. When I did speak up, I didn't make any accusations, I just asked if anybody had SEEN the crime.
I know I didn't see everything, but I did see and hear enough to know that those kids were being harassed and accused, in an overly-aggressive way based on circumstantial evidence.
Uncle Richard,
I don't doubt that you are nice and helpful person and that many people in the community consider you a friend and comrade. Regardless of that, I do think your actions last night were out of line. That's just my opinion.

personal favorite part: were all rolling lights and we ride past a cop, it get's kind of uneasy. cop comes out on the loud speaker: "enjoy your ride!" literally as we're all rolling through the light & fucking up traffic. super dope!
definitely not going to get involved in other drama going on, that will solve itself.

...This past friday Midnight Ridazz bicycle ride was an interesting experience...some lil newbie on a bike cut me while going down the hill on sunset by the Roxy...I guess the newbie didn't see the lifted street barricades on the street so he smashed me on my right side and I crashed really bad...I got a bump on my right side of my head and two swollen fingers, a scraped knee and shoulder. I'm not crying out for some sympathy...But rather for some simple bicycle understandings from some of these people... I always try my best to help lost or injured ridazz... I believe us ridazz are a family. As for the newbie who caused me to write this...Hope you learn how to ride a bit more with caution. I've seen this newbie before, when we stopped at the water fountain park...I easily could've caused some drama or a fight...I know he knew what he did...Sadly, he never said anything. He rode on a black bmx with white grips and had a helmet...I'm sure he was the only bmx'er. To all the Ridazz, take care and peace with you always........

So before you go all Dr. Phil and try and save these kids, maybe you should get your shit straight.

If you have issues with me. Thats something you can figure out for yourself.
I treat individuals based on their actions.
I just reported what I saw, what I heard, and what I experienced, and how I perceived that information.
I'm not looking for that to be a popular opinion. Just sharing with others about my experience that night on Midnight Ridazz.
You don't have to agree with it. It doesn't mean that I am right. Its just what I saw and what I took from it.
Take it with a grain of salt.
I'm sure there are other people who saw things the way I did: Sympathy for the victim of a petty theft eclipsed by the scene of a grown man threatening to steal the bikes of little kids while showing them that he has some sort of weapon under his belt.
Perhaps you think that your aggressive, threatening behavior aimed at kids who you believe to be thieves will make for a better and healthier atmosphere on rides.
You are welcome to that opinion. But, I disagree.

I usually veer away from the negativity, as much as I humanly possibly can, but sometimes it's extremely hard, almost impossible. I've had friends get more than a light stolen (not a slight to having a light stolen) but violence is never the way.
On the other hand... this issue really should have been handled right then and there... even if it means sifting through all their shit. I like to believe that once the ride is over and you come on here to post about what so and so did and what happened, it really just falls on deaf ears. It will not... I repeat, it WILL NOT stop such occurrences from happening, but it can teach every single person involved and reading, to the point where we can avoid them.
I for one have never had an issue since about 2 months into riding with the ridazz. I learned from that first incident that if I really care or value something I will either stay right next to it or be close enough at all times to have a good view of my personal belongings. Needless to say, libations flow throughout the night and people forget these very simple rules.
As of today, I've yet to buy a u-lock or have anything stolen from my person or my bike.
Thieves will be thieves... be smarter than them. Simple as that.
