Bicycle Bell Ensemble

A bike bell group is forming.
We have our debut performance scheduled for may 27.
It just occured to me that the absurd chaos of the Dada ride would be a perfect time to do a live experimental rehersal.
If you like to play your bicycle bell a little too much ... find us on the Dada ride.
reply
We will meet up at 9:30 at the pershing square fountain so we can touch base before all teh chaos starts.
If you can't be there at 9:30 ... no problem, just find us on the ride.

BBE will be easy enough for a commited "non-musician" to contribute to the mix but there will be opprotunities for the musically inclined to take it to the next level.
No "try outs" necessary.

Hey Bike bell players, we need you.
The big BBE debut is coming on tuesday the 29th in hollywood.
The performance will have 2 parts: a ride
where we will improvise off of the rhythmn of the conductor
and a gallery performance where we will play an experimental spokecard composition by our composer/conductor David Semien.
We need ridazz for both parts.
The "ride and play" group can be any size (because the streets are endless) the group in the gallery will be 10-15 (slightly more commited) people.
The rehersal is not mandatory for gallery performers but highly recomended.
the website and ride posting will follow shortly
- Patrick Miller
Director, Bicycle Bell Ensemble
(damn, that sounds important)
ps Bells are like $6 so if you need one get one.
if you have to choose between catfood and a bike bell let me know
and i'll buy you a bell myself.

Documentation Anyone?
I have a rig for suspending my mic and an MD recorder but the foam wind protection maxes out at about 5mph.
Anybody have a good windmuffeled mic we can use for the ride?
Anybody want to shoot video or stills?
This is a zero budget project but i will of course help out anyway I can with media costs (tapes, cds, etc)
And of course, any who help out will get their due credit and the endless gratitude of the BBE.

Well, I'll shoot stills as usual, but I might be a little limited by trying to play my bell at the same time.

Great event. I can't wait for the next one. And I like Dave's idea of organizing bells with pitch so that there could be a sort of harmony. The ensemble was sweet! And so was that after party! BICYCLE BELLS!

Hey All,
I just wanna say a big Thanks to everybody that came through and participated and supported. This simply would not have happened with out you all.
I was simply blown away about how well this thing worked. The response was amazing. The comment I heard over and over again was "magical".
I have to give extra special shouts to a few people;
Rollers for hookin' up spoke cards & shooting pix.
Spiral Demon for doing pix and video and posting the next day!
Kenneth for shooting pix.
Davis for doing an awsome job composing and conducting.
To the GOGA ladies for representin'
And a special shout-out to RB & the Ridazz community for the inspiration.
For everyone that came, helped out, and brought a good attitude, which is pretty much everyone ... Thanks Y'all!
You are the ones who made this work.

OK it's a secret no more!!!!
Here's the low down on what's happening this night in LB. The BBE will be meeting at Lincoln Park at 7pm. If you been to Soundwalk the previous years, you know you'll want to get there early. I know I'll be! The event is scheduled from 5-10pm. Last year I felt I didn't see everything in the 3 hours I was there.
After Soundwalk is over, we'll be rolling for a 2 hour, ~20 mile ride through LB and some of the surrounding communities. Around midnight we'll roll over to the after hours party. The site is a rooftop with a fireplace over looking LB. There will be a kick ass sound system up there with DJ BBD on the ones and zeros. The party will carry on till the prime hours of 5am. The Blueline start leaving for LA at 4:30 and the station is two blocks away. Drinks for the ladies will be Sangrias and guys can pick their favorite store to get their beer. Stores 2-3 blocks away include, Walgreens, Sav-ons, Rite-aid, and Albertson's. Hot dogs will be served for all the guest. Veggie dogs cooked with their own utensils will be served for all the vegetarian ridazz. Girls will have their own bathroom. Yes that's right! No dealing with dick heads that can't hit the toilet!
We'll be probably dealing with alot of last minute crap, but if you want to come down to LB early, come on down! Have a beer or drink with us before heading downtown. More than likely we'll be able to pump the big ass bass speakers only in the day time. The night time we'll have to adjust it. The place is real chill and doesn't get the police on our ass since we're on the roof and there's not alot of people around. Sound won't be traveling very far or loud either since it's getting colder now.
Please ask questions here and early. Saturday will be hectic and I just won't be able to give it that personal touch. ~8) Oh yeah the number is 562 673 0643 - Allan

Hey does anyone know how to make sangries? Can anyone spell it? Apparently you can't buy this stuff at the liquor store. Well look for sangries or shots of JD ladies.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
User109.21.07 - 10:34 am

Here is one i dug up off the web:
INGREDIENTS:
1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
Splash of orange juice
2 Shots of gin
1 Cup of sliced strawberries or raspberries (may use thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
4 Cups ginger ale
PREPARATION:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.

^^^^ What he said. ^^^^
For your Googling pleasure, the correct spelling is "SangrĂa." That ought to get you a few recipes.
Incidentally, if you can buy it at a liquor store, it ain't SangrĂa. It's like Irish coffee: you gotta make it yourself.
Oh, and I love the stuff. If I wear a skirt, can I have some?

*** Rain or Moonshine ***
1) We will be performing even if it rains
2) Just in case, come prepared for light precipitation and coolish temps (the predicted low is 55?)
3)
There is only a 10% chance of rain by the time our performance is set to happen, which means that even if it does rain it should probably be limited to light intermittent sprinkles.

Rain - Fuck the rain! It's going to be clear and chilly tonite. Great night to huddle around a fire on the rooftop drinking with all the ridazz.
