You have two opportunities, and I am helping organize the second:
1. Tour de Fat - I haven't been, but Borfo went to one in Portland and had a blast. A bunch of us are heading down Friday night / Saturday morning to hit up the festival.
2. GUERRILLA SPROCKETTES SHOW: We don't have all of the details worked out, but it will be a guerrilla performance somewhere in SD (Balboa Park or dodgeball park), probably after a short ride.
C'MON LA, GET DOWN TO SD. Here is what one of The Sprockettes said: "We've heard so much talk about the LA bike gang that we wanted to do something for them all and had the opportunity to go. If LA is in SD then let's do it! More the merrier."
I really recommend you all consider coming to SD to either of these events.
The Sprokettes have come all the way from Portland and they are looking forward to seeing the LA bike community. Here's an opportunity to see them and party again with SD folks again. Spread the word. Ride down, Amtrak down, or carpool and stay in a motel or something.
I'm thinking of going with a double elite crew, that may or may not be The Smut Peddlers.
I really really really want to ride down there. One other person and it's on! I know Jared was talking about rolling down there sometime. So I'll be asking him.
@mk4524 - We're still working that part out, but we will probably do an evening ride that ends wherever the Sprockettes are going to do their guerrilla performance, the location of which is also still being worked out. Cretins Tommy is riding his bike accross Southeast Asia until December (!), so Drew and Nicole are helping me out.
All of that will fall into place......BUT I NEED MORE LA IN SD! I don't have Facebook, so I can't reach the Westsiders. Hello Westsiders?
The tour de fat has a schedule of events. Do you know what the approx times of other happenings? Just curious cuz I will be in "whales vagina" late like around 1 or 2 pm. Kthank

The Sprockettes really want to see LA at their guerrilla show Saturday evening / night.
Tour de fat - morning, afternoon
Ride, Sprockettes - evening / night
Some people are riding - Kieron, maybe Marcus, and separately User 1 and Leslie.
Others are driving - email me if you want to come but need a ride, I'll try to arrange something for you.
If you don't know where to stay....well......fuck it! Figure it out when you get there! Sleep in a park! Sleep on the beach! Sleep in someone's car! DON'T SLEEP!
UPDATE: Also on tap for the evening (d'ya get it? Tour de Fat is a beer and bike festival, "on tap".... I'm funny) - the Tour de Fat afterparty at VELO CULT BIKE SHOP (which also happens to be next door to The Whistlestop Bar which has some fun dance parties)!
The Sprockettes are performing at Tour de Fat, for festival folks, AND they're performing after, for SD and LA kids. There will be an after-festival ride, as well - I believe the performance will be at the end of the ride. But we're still working out timing, because of this after party thing that people want to go to.
just looked at hotels on sidestep. Rodeway inn which is at the edge of balboa park has rooms for $46 a night total with tax. Looks like a real crumy hotel
there is more hotels closer by. check this map if you are interested in that.
Seriously, I just read more on the Tour de Fat website, and it sounds like a lot of goddam fun. Costumes, the death of a car, and the celebration of bike culture! AND BEER!
Can someone take us through on what to expect at the festival? I'm mostly concerned about the beer. Will there be free flowing free beer? Or little Dixie cups of samples? Or beer being sold? Or is this just a tease? All the other stuff I know what to expect or can make my own fun.
The beers are like a dollar. PINT SIZED biodegradable cups. All New Belgian Ale beers.
I ended up spending 15 dollars and I was having a happy buzz.
You exchange your cash for tokens and give tokens for beer. I think you can also win tokens at the different events if I remember clearly. but it was kinda blurry.
i can bring a dodgeball or two if I go.... (it looks like im making the festival), but since I dont know the time of the 2nd Sprock performance... i dont know for certain if I can make that event (unless we find out the time before hand)...
(non-bike friends in SD want to chill, so I might be splitting late night)... i dont know... yet.... its all so confusing.
ANyhow... if I go, ill either bring a dodgeball to join ya'll or Ill just give it to ya'll and i'll just wish i had stayed...
With that:
ANy confirmation on the 2nd performance time?
Where will dodgeball take place? At the festival?
just wondering...

2nd performance time will be somewhere around 6:30 - 7:30 pm. It won't be late because the Sprockettes want to hit the after party, and they're heading to Long Beach that night.
Its my van that's going.. $15 if you're riding, one way costs as much as roundtrip. Van leaves Friday night, back Sunday afternoon. No sleeping overnight in the Van.
The ONLY confimed spot will be those that contact me personally,
Marcus gets email at g mail (without the spaces) or call if you got the number..

i guess i just dont want to impose on your gathering... so I'll make sure to bring a dodgeball, and if this is a desired thing to do... then lets do it...
This would probably need to go down before it gets dark.... but tentatively what would be the plan?
Again, i dont want to impose... but would this require cats to leave the festival grounds? or would we just do some spontaneous dodgeball match (well if we plan it,, then its not)... you get the point...
Im down.. thats all...
I guess I look for your group... sounds cool
