Yes--flyers for schools! Love it!
Anyone should feel free to post up flyers at/around schools (but if on campus, you might want to check with the school administration first, of course), coffee shops, or anywhere else parents/families/kids gather.

We're all good:
Proud to announce that Carlos and the Eastside Bike Club will head up the eastside start ride (which will start at Hollenbeck Park and head west on the CicLAvia route to the eastside-westsite hook up spot at 7th and Fig).
Also, another group of families and bikes will be joining us on the CicLAvia route, the Eastside Riders (which, although it sounds similar to the Eastside Bike Club, is totally a different crew--they're straight outta South Central).
Check 'em: http://www.esrbc.org/

hope a bunch of ridazz and their kid(s), nephews, nieces, cousins, step-children, or even if you're still wondering if the kid is actually yours, just bring them to MidDay Ridazz's first official ride.
even if you dont have a kid to bring, feel free to show up and just ride with us.
Once people start recognizing the city and streets need to support a safe format for it's youngest residents, everyone else will benefit too.

I've got kids, sounds like MD2 does too. MannysCarWash, too. Borfo does now (and in a month or two they'll be riding together, you know it).
Anyone else?
I'm curious how many other ridazz either have kids, bike with kids, or know kids that would be down for doing some group rides. Getting all of these big ridazz + mini-ridazz together would be awesome.
Let me know--we'll put together a list.

the east side riders should have a pretty good group of kids riding out of south central. my kids cant stop talking about it. They asked if there will be spoke cards!!!
mr.j10.4.10 - 12:51 pm

I completely forgot about spoke cards.... thanks for reminding. I'll do my best to get something for the event.
You know what would be cool and it just came to mind, so im not sure how it would work, but I can put the MDR skull on one side, and then somehow have the other side blank, with an "insert pic here" or something, so your kids can add their photo....
Or maybe we can have them draw on one side their best self-portrait. I'll think about it, but Im pretty swamped, so I'll just aim for whatever is easiest.

Anyone know how MTA handles bike trailers on their subways?
My my wife and my kid wanna do this ride. I would hate to drive to it. My trailer doubles as a stroller (a convertable) so I can separate them for the subway ride. So I can ride in one car with 2 bikes and my wife with the child and "stroller" (trailer)
Will MTA security give us grief?
thegodofthor10.7.10 - 8:03 pm
reply
Short answer, yes you can! you should be fine, especially if you separate the trailer. In fact, i would separate the two, just so you dont keep having to deal with passengers giving you grief just because they can.
Look at the schedules and see how often the train will be running in order to get to the Vermont / Santa Monica station before 10:15am. I would suggest arriving at your departing station a couple trains in advance in case you run into some problems or authority that is just have a bad day and wants to be a jerk.
I would (and do) encourage the use of alternate transportation -- that's what Sunday is all about. Sometimes it feels like a headache or more work than it's worth, but Sunday could be a good time to start and see what works and doesn't work for you, especially for the next time you think about using Metro.
Again, just give yourself a cushion for errors or bad timing in order to make the event in time.
Hope to see you there.

I, too, think you're good and don't think you'd have any problem--it's Sunday early a.m. where there is generally very light ridership. You'll probably even get one of those Metro employees to help you out. The stations are very accommodating to most rolling things (they had to be to be ADA compliant).
