On Day 2 of the Aids/Life Cycle Ride, we rode 107.6 miles from Santa Cruz to King City. The next day was a short 66.7 miles from King City to Paso Robles. We started that day with a steep climb though. It was followed by a 99.7 mile ride from Paso Robles to Santa Maria. In June, we'll ride 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in one week.

Uh, 108 miles from home to San Diego, but I'm looking to exceed that on my next century ride.

117 from Union Station to Solano Beach (Almost San Diego) in about 7 hours.
Eat at one of many great restaurants by the train station, then hop on Amtrak and drink beer all the way back to Union Station. (Whole Trip 12 hours).

The dude was some fat guy who no longer had use for it, this was a supreme bargain for myself at the time considering the circumcis...stances.

When I was working that gig in Montebello, it was common for me to log 70 miles on any given night.
example:
Montebello to any point on Westside=25 miles.
Actual event=15-20miles
Going back=30miles taking Venice Blvd onto 6th/Whittier.

Such a good and inspiring blog, to say the least. Too bad we have to wait another 585 days for the next entry. Let's just pray there are many countless adventures until then and that they should one day be able to see the light of day.

Albuquerque, NM to San Jon, NM - 117 Miles.
The longest leg of a ride from Saugus, CA to Saugus, MA - ~3300 Miles.
40 Days. One set of Specialized Expeditions. Peugeot PX-10.
Summer of 1986. I was 12.
Pretty equal in length was Palmdale > Angeles Crest > Angeles Forest > Palmdale.
...but that one's got tens of thousands of feet worth of climbing (and descending).
Now, the bar seems too far.
(but isn't it always?)

The LA Dark Century 109 miles.
I really want to do the San Diego Ride...
In August, a couple buddies & I will be doing an unsupported weeklong ride from SF-LA. Really excited for this.
And I would also like to do something like Wally, Pepper, & Marx
Maybe something equally as epic as theirs.... who knows but these long rides have shown me humility. In regards to riding. The things you see, feel, the mental aspect, imo is the hardest part. Trying to pace yourself but not fully opening up your speed.
I just can't travel long distances in a long amount of time. It kills me, I get antsy.
