Nashbar?

I'm thinking of getting some shoes and clipless pedals from this site. My question is has anyone bought any of there brand before? Are they dependable? If you could go back and invested more money on a more expensive brand, would you? There prices are really good and wanted to know if there the " you get what you pay for type"....

the nashbar warehouse is the same place performance gets their stuff from. so basically, if youre concerned about something not fitting, you can go to a performance store and try it on before ordering it from nashbar (or buying it in person at performance).

are you getting road or mtb pedals? all the local bike co-ops have used clipless pedals if you want to go really cheap.

Bought stuff from Nashbar. They were straight up on everything. Never had to send stuff back, but I got the impression it wouldn't of been a problem.

I think ill take ur advice and try them out in person. I thought I had seen the shoes @ a store before but wasn't sure what shop it was. Nashbar is giving some excellent deals and to top it off there throwing in a 10% discount on orders over $50. Must be the economy.

I'm thinking of mtb pedals and mtb shoes due to the easy exit the pedals provide and the walkabilty of the mtb shoes.

Funny thing is allan I actually got this website from a recomendation u gave another ridda when they were looking for great online store to get bike stuff from awhile back on the boards. I kept it under my favs and didn't look @ the site until now.

nashbar, performance, supergo, jensonusa... those are all internet sites i used to order MTB stuff from for cheap. as RBI said, they always have sales on discontinued items.

i just realized you were asking specifically about their house brand stuff. from my limited experience, they're comparable to mid-level components from other manufacturers.

if you sign up on their mailing list, you'll get bombarded by sale emails every other week.
what system you considering debut? SPDs? crankbros? Time?

Emerson, i was thinking of spd's. What type do you use? The nashbar brand only uses spd's with there type of shoes, i believe. What would u recomend? since you have experience with clipless pedals.....

Are familiar with the site http://www.mtbr.com/ ? They do reviews on MTB stuff. There's also the road equivalent http://www.roadbikereview.com/

do they ever have sales on pedals? I haven't received an email about pedals from them yet. I'd like a new pair, because mine or probably quite a few years old, since my right one decleats sometimes when I pull up.

My cleats are only a couple months old but the pedals came on the first road bike I bought, which was something out of the 70's/80's. The pedals aren't that old but they sure are no where near new.

rbi and I usually arent on the same page usually. He has said some insulting stuff in the past and so have I.
I asked for input and I got valuable input from him. I cant argue with that.

jean- manny and i both use crankbros.
i have eggbeaters and he has smarties.
the only other system i've tried is speedplay frogs. i didn't like those because the float felt too much like i was pedaling on ice.
there's plenty of advocates for SPD, crankbros and time.
SPD has been around for awhile and has a solid following.
my coworker swears by cranksbros and got me into them. i like them cause i can get out when i want to get out. i had trouble with the speedplay frogs. the only thing about crankbros is that the cleats wear out faster than other systems. but it supposedly so you replace cleats more often than you replace pedals.

Gav, They have pretty good deals. im planning on getting this Nashbar special mtb pedal for a super cheap 29.99. Go ahead take a look @ what they offer, you might be pleasently surprised. I promise i am not affiliated to nashbar, even though i may sound like im pedaling there stuff on here.

Shit, Emerson, now you got me thinking about those Crankbrothers. Manny told me how easy they are to get into and out. I might hold off on those nashbar brand and put some more dinero on some Crankbrothers instead.

i got these on eggbeater Cs on sale.

all their eggbeater models are pretty solid, but i think the MXR model is not good.
you can find the smarty for about the same price. the only difference is the platform around the eggbeater.
i have an extra pair of cleats if you want to borrow them and try them out. they're a little worn, but you will get the idea. if you get a shoe compatible with SPD, crankbrothers cleats will also fit, so you wouldn't have to commit to either or just yet.

I just got a card from Nashbar that you can get 20% off orders of $75 or more. The code is PC261 when you check out. Good to June 19th.
BTW you can sometimes find these codes at a site called www.retailmenot.com I didn't see this one there.

Thanks again user1. Ive already orderd my stuff from nashbar. I went with the nashbar mtn pro shoe with the eggbeater pedals instead of the nashbar pedal. I read poor reviews on nashbar pedals. I used the 10% discount code.

Fuck nashbar. I got my eggbeaters today and the cleats had a crack in them.. WTF .. There taking it back and giving me a full refund. What a big waste of time. Im going into performance bike first thing tomarrow mourning and buying me the (Crankbrothers Candy c se pedal) instead. FUCK NASHBAR.
P.s the customer service experience was excellent. One good part to nashbar i guess.
