Calling all Los Angelopes!!
We want to document all the freak bikes in LA and post the photos on the internets.
If you want in let us know.
I'm thinking it would work well to do it at the Grand Super Brunch Sunday the 27th @2pm.

I think we should find a more photogenic locale..hmm.. like a zoo or an abandoned ice skating rink or a downtown alley or a closed-for-construction highway ...

yes yes more yes to combining with the event on the 20th! the final decision comes down the brass(moose)knuckle but i'm all for moving it far away from brunch. as you know, i'm an insane control freak and i can't manage photo ops and potatoes at the same time. also, this brunch isn't following crank mob as usual so it might be bigger. i'd say 40ish people stretched out over 12 hours, most of them in our tiny yard/house from 3pm-8pm. but bring your cameras anyway. let's play it by ear for all the freak bikes that show up.

let's do ita different day. i have an idea on a date but let me look at the calendar. we do need to do a bike donation/sale day so we can raise some money for the spokeasy at grand. We need tools. I'll figure it out later today.

First location that comes to mind is the old zoo up in Griffith Park (near the merry go round). It's all cleaned up now, but the bear enclosures are still there.

we can ride in the daytime through the night, like last time. Rollers wants Griffith Park, another photographer takes the LA river, another photographer - another spot. Take your spot, set up a shoot with lights, props, staging, etc.

Griffith Park would be a great starting point, since its higher in elevation! then ride downdowndown EASILY through HW to eventually the LA River.
I will definitely be down with this. I honestly couldnt find any more large "art openings" for us to NOT attend...

Last I checked (3-4 months ago) the old zoo location was off limits, fenced in. It's been like that since the last fires.
But it don't matter. A park location is a good background.
Then I'd go down to where the Arroyo and LA river meet.
If there is not much water we could ride all the way down to 6th street and exit from there.
Otherwise...
Go up two blocks at the Goldstone studios where Richie lives for a metal junkyard background.
There is a vast improptu skateyard up the street. Broken concrete graffiti, ramps, places for jumps and tricks.
Two blocks away is Lacy street studios for a red brick background.
Then ride to downtown. To 6th street by the river?

free-for-all is right! I only thought it would be good to have a photographer set up at the site, with lights etc. Is it possible to do that? Or does lighting setup even matter to you? Its up to yall what you want to use. Maybe you could stash the equipment there beforehand...?

Yes, all sounds good. Excellent list of locations and route, Marino. I'll have to check on the old zoo, it was fenced off after the fires, but I haven't been up there lately either.
I'm only an amatuer with a decent camera, I don't know jack about lights and usually travel with all my equipment on my back.
Freak bike drag race! You're all just full of great ideas. Let me know if you want help with the trophies, Dan.

Just got back from a ride through Griffith Park; I swung by the old zoo, there is a chain link fence still in place, but the gates were open and it looks like that area is open for use again.
I'll go by during the day some time soon to investigate more.
