I just looked at the New Belgium website and these are the dates
Chicago 7/11 @ Palmer Square
Minneapolis 7/18 @ Parade Athletic Fields
Seattle 8/8 @ Gas Works Park
Portland 8/15 @ Waterfront Park
Boise 8/22 @ Ann Morrison Park
Fort Collins 9/5 @ New Belgium
Denver 9/12 @ City Park
San Francisco 9/26 @ Golden Gate Park
San Diego 10/3 @ Balboa Park
Tempe 10/10 @ Tempe Town Lake
Austin 10/17 @ Fiesta Gardens
I always wanted to go to this and now that I am 21 I must go! Who is up for SD date?
For those of you that do not know what it is here is some info
Tour de Fat is an annual pro-bike tour sponsored by New Belgium. The events, which take place in various large cities around the West, include music, New Belgium beer, circus-type performances, bicycle dance troupes, and the main event: a giant group bike ride/parade where everyone dresses up in costumes and rides through town. One huge part of the event is a bike trade, in which a local participant transfers the keys and title to their vehicle to New Belgium, in exchange for a new commuter bike and trailer in order to promote bike riding and sustainability.

Whats the possibility of it coming to LA:. next time around?

I would think it has a chance to come to Pasadena. Even SM, though slimmer. It has very little chance at coming to LA cause all the bureaucratic BS it has to go through with a city as large as LA. The cities that are on the list, are ones that WANT to be on the list.

i asked the organizers why they never came to la and they said it was a space and safety issue. not having a public park type of place to host the numbers of people who would show up, plus the liability of having all those people escorted (the cops do it) in their little bike parade beforehand.
but its drinking and bikes. its not like you need to spend $4 for a wooden token to drink fat tire in a park with a bunch of strangers when you can do the same thing with tecate and some of your closest friends. you know?

I LOVE NEW BELGIUM.
They didn't hesitate for 1 second when we asked for help with the All City Toy Ride. They are down!

I'll volunteer to be a safety hazard if they ever come to LA. Seriously makes me not want to drink Fat Tire.

Yeah, we went all the way to them in Portland for Marcus to give little girls some sharecuts. It's their turn.

at the end of the day this is a marketing gimmick
and I am sure they want our beer consumption dollars as much as anybody elses.
but if the bureaucracy in L.A. makes it too difficult and expensive to do it here , its just not worth it to them.
Fat Tire/ New Belgium throw free beer at lots of cool bike projects/ causes: LACBC, Messenger Gold Sprints, and the ACTR and lots of other art events I have been to.
At the end of they day they have a marketing budget and want get under the skin of as many people as possible for the $$ they spend.
I'm 100% sure this has nothing to do with being against L.A.
They just have a limited resources and are going to go to the markets that are easiest for them to operate for them.

Who else is going to San Diego?!
You should go because:
1. it's awesome riding there.
2. It's close (2.2 hour drive.)
3. It's cheap ($30 to take the Amtrak, each way.)
4. It's cheap (Sleep in the park!)
5. It's cooler than LA (mid 70s instead of mid 90s)
6. Free swag
7. Cheap beer.
8. The Sprockets.
9. I'm out of incentives.

TOUR DE FAT.....and it sounds RAD!
- All money raised goes to bike-related charities.
- WEAR COSTUMES!!

- Read the Tour de Fat 10 Commandments - some of them are awesome
Here's the

I have a feeling that the Parade will start by the fountain. Just google map Balboa park and you can figure out where the fountain is.
