anybody from bainbridge?
i might be moving up there by the end of the year for work.
how is it living up there?
how would i like it as a 24 year old college grad male.
are there things to do up there or is it just all woodsy and lonely?

Well, I've never been to that part of Washington, I mainly stayed/hung around in the lower, Puyallup area 30 miles south of Seattle.
I'm quite sure it's the same as most of Western Washington, greenery, rivers, ferry-boats, fishing, and all that other cool shit.

My boss lives on the island. I house sat for him once. I think it's a pretty nice place to live. Fun to ride around too.
If you can handle a lot of rain, and are patient waiting for the Ferry on a regular basis, then you will survive. Just watch the cars while getting on the ferry. Most of them are impatient and aggressive.

Honestly, aside from all the pretty scenery, there is nothing to do there except to drink, write songs, and contemplate existence. I don't think you will have a ball up there.

I've got a friend that lives there - she takes the ferry to work and bikes a lot.

If you have a 9 to 5 on the island. Then that pretty much means you are stuck there. The ferry stop like right after midnight, or something. Yes, there is nice roads to ride around there, but there's no nightlife except in Seattle. It's not going to be a 24 year old's party haven, I can tell you. What sort of job?

yeah, its a 9-5er on the island.
i have no friends or relatives up there and i was hoping to go to seattle on weekends and try to make friends or something but if the ferry closes, i guess thats that.
the jobs for a private company that specializes in fall protection equipment for rescue workers and the like.
i basically have to hang off th side of buildings and teach people how not to fall.
they will fly me all over the country to different clients so i can train their employees.
and talking to anyone who has to fly a lot, its fuckign sucks.
honestly, i shouldnt be complaining though since everyone is fighting tooth and nail to find a job.
give me a scenario though,
let's say i work on the weekdays and im too tired to do anything on those days,
what will my weekends consist of, besides biking.
i know a lot of old folks ride there, but then the island is only 5x10miles in area so im sure the routes will eventually get boring.

Double check that Ferry Schedule, they might have changed it. Seattle is actually pretty fun.
I once missed the last Ferry and I was stuck until 6am. W00t!

And we like riding them, about as much as making them, far more than repairing them, though that's rather satisfying on occaision. Choppers, tallbikes, trikes, long bikes, short bikes, experimental bikes, bikes that climb on rocks, yep, like 'em. And we promote liking bikes. All kinds.
Fun is a crucial ingredient.
Sadly, many folks seem to have lost track of this.
We have semi-organized rides on the first Friday of every month, and will until we all die off. We also have rides for peoples' birthdays, bands playing, and try to get out for all the Celtic holidays (speshly Lammas, well, Mayday's cool too, and surely Samhain...). Of course the race is every August, on you guessed it, the first Friday. This year ?
We are so damn cool that we are often invited out of town to participate in mad eventage of the chopperiffic kind. Nice people take pictures and movies of us generally squashing the competition and staying up latest at night finishing all the beers. See the Page-o-Hype for such stuff."
Dead Baby's are RAD! We met them in Portland when Ridazz went up there. They more at our level of raucous fun. OMFG -MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ need to go up to SEATTLE !!!! What's wrong with us?

Damn! How'd I miss this? My aunt lives on Bainbridge. I could arrange for you to meet her son once you get up there- he's 26. He made it sound like there's half decent mountain biking on the island, but I wouldn't expect much exciting road riding on an island <5 miles long.
