rooklyn Machine Works, the makers of the highly sought after “Gangsta-Track” frame, seems to be the go-to spot for celebrities who want a fixed gear now days. Beneath Pharrel Williams is his new track bike, decked out in a set of Arrowspokes. The bike, however, isn’t getting raving reviews by Pharrel fans.

The Mass Marking of Fixed Gears
Scenerio #1: Fixies are everywhere and everybody from kids to grandmas ride them nobody ever asks you again how you brake on that thing.
Best Part: more people riding bikes.
Biggest danger: colliding with another cyclist that also blows stop lights.
Scenario #2: Fixie's become a massive global trend, with demand skyrocketing bikes are being produced on an massive scale, and classic bikes go for obscene sums.
Bigest danger: if you get caught up you'll pay way too much for your dream bike.
Best part: when the fad subsides tons of bikes and parts on the market allowing you to build your dream bike on cheap.
Best best part: nobody will call you a hipster because you have a fixie, because it won't be hip or "in the know" to have one.
The worst/best part of both senerios is that the trend setters, early adopters, and bike punx will be aghast at the massive popularity and will not be able to stand doing something that "everybody" thinks is cool and mainstream.
enter: big wheel bikes and unicycles.

I like scenario #1. I have an uncle who honestly believes it's impossible to stop on a fixie, it comes up every time I see him.

i actually dont ride my bike.
i drive to meet up spots.
ride with the group for about 3 blocks,
complain about how slow the ride is,
split off,
then i go home and talk shit on the MR forums.

dude, i dont even have a bike!
i just go to bars wearing my chrome bag and tell girls that im a messenger and that i dabbled in drugs for awhile but now im clean and i play in a noise rock band and even though my balls smell like piss and vinegar these stupid semi attractive girls take me back to their place so they can massage my penis and i can eat all their food.

keep in mind, you have make sure that you look REALLY dirty because, you know, we're supposed to be urban and big city folks, oh and make sure you have a HUGE chip on ur shoulder even though we come from decent households. also we gotta make sure to put product in our hair to give us a bed head look so it seems like we just woke up even though its 11PM and we have hot running water at home.
this type of shit makes girls so hot, it induces their periods like 3 weeks early.

Reminds me of this kid who goes to my school. He really shouldn't have talked to these other kids about the fact that he has a maid come to his house three times a week and then proceed to wear a DGK shirt. Some kids were all up on him like "DIRTY GHETTO KIDS? WHAT? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A DIRTY GHETTO KID IS!!! BLAH BLAH BLAH" It was really really funny.

H'mm, this fixed-gear craze reminds me of that time when everyone was jocking a "Furby" around their neck.
I glanced at these people and degraded them from day one.
The trend died off and I quietly observed the advent of Pokeman cards and such.

Well when it got down to it, that's pretty much what one was led to believe they were doing.
All the people going, "Awww, look how cute this thing is!! I'm going to love it forever and take it to bed with me,. etc"
All the while, I was eagerly awaiting the debut of RE:2!!!!

there lies the obvious difference of being an eight year old and being a sixteen year old.
