Alp d\' 818 is a group ride that spans all the west valley peaks of Santa Susana Pass, Box Canyon, Dirt Mulholland, Sepulveda Pass, and finally an accent of Mission Peak. Total mileage is around 60 with accumulated elevation gain of near 7k. Pace is brisk but not race pace, the goal is to have fun and explore these areas via bicycle.

\r\nFinishers will get a button for their suffering.
\r\n
\r\nTypes of bikes recommended for this two-wheeled endeavor would be a vintage or classic road bike with alpine gearing, cyclocross, gravel bike, or randonneur bicycle. On our last venture, some people tried mountain bikes and they had mixed results as most of what we will be riding on is paved roads, some dirt/fire roads will be ridden on too though.
\r\n
\r\nExpect 5-6 hours saddle time. We will have one scheduled stop at the Nike Missile Base for water/toilet use.
\r\n
\r\nMake sure your bike is in good form as you should be too, have snacks, water, tools, spare tube etc. that you think you\'ll need.
\r\n
\r\nAfter we return to the start, we will feast. This event and the food are free. If you want suds, bring some $$ for that.
