KPCC Bike/Car discussion
Post your thoughts on how to make cycling safe in los angeles. Many politicians and city planners read this blog for ideas on what the people want. They just had a call in and there was so much rage against cyclists. The call in part is over but the discussion continues.. People were calling in saying bikes shouldn't be allowed on canyon roads, narrow roads etc. Let you voice be heard.

the show was an embarrassment. there was no clarification on the LAW. Larry Mantle didnt bother to review exactly what the doctor did and what the rights of cyclists are. he just filtered in on air comment after on air comment of mostly ignorant angry car drivers.
the comments on the blog are by far in favor of cyclists rights and his show today be-lied the bias of him and/or his call screener.

yah larry has show his bias by talking about how annoyed he gets by cyclists riding on the sidewalk the wrong way and scaring him. He needs to get away from his opinions and clarify what the law is. I say petition him to do another show focusing on the law.

I would encourage EVERYONE to email Sharon McNary. she has something to do with KPCC programming.

get those emails in to her inbox and let her know that we care about cycling issues in Los Angeles.... the glacier that is car culture dominance is melting ever slowly.... but with acceleration.

he's starting to peeve me. I mean... he could have extended the convo regarding the bicycle issue. clearly with 81 comments it was a hot topic. but he chose to move on toe bill frist and his book promotion which got a dismal 9 comments.... LAME.

it was a bullshit discussion.
the saddest part is that people are so convinced that cars are soooo deserving. They just dont get it... they dont get how fooled they are....
Instead of realizing how much we have lost by being so car friendly... they see it as the way it is, so it has to be... rather than saying:
with all the issues surrounding cars ... why do we give them so much authority?

also a huge failure in perspective.... the streets are the property of the community. they belong to all of us and there shouldnt be discrimination against those of us who choose to traverse out community roads with something other than a car.
