frame size survey

Hi folks. I am 6'2" ...tall and lanky.
I am polling any tall ridazz willing to let me know what frame size you ride, or would reccommend. I'm looking to get a new frame soon.

The easiest thing to do is go into most any bike shop and ask them to size you. Height doesn't matter as much as inseam for frame size. You can have a short torso but really long legs and need a 58-62 or have shorter legs and need something smaller...good luck!

I'm 6'5" but I have a long torso/short legs. I'm also flexible so I ride a fairly small bike.

Go to the bike shop and test ride a bunch of different models and sizes and take notes on which size/model fits the best, and then check online to see which bikes have similar geometries.
A 6'2" person is probably in the 58-62cm range as one of the other folks pointed out, but the length of the seat tube is only one factor, as different manufacturers and models have different geometries with longer and shorter top tubes, different seat angles, etc., and even the size is up for debate, as "compact frame" geometries are measured differently, etc., etc., etc.
It'd be nice to tell you "You need a 60cm frame, or a 58cm if you're riding a fixie", but that's not really how it works.
This is why local bike shops are awesome.

I'm 6'3" and I ride a 60-63cm frame. It's also important to consider top tube length when looking for a frame. That's how I ride can a 60.

Anyway,
I have a long history of bmx and mountain biking, so I'm use to a small frame underneath me. The problem I have now is I got a new fixie, and the guy in the store (who shall remain nameless) was a fuckhead and just wanted the sale. Talked me into a small bike that now I regret buying. It's too small. I am buying all new parts (Big tall stem and upright bars, super long seat post, etc) to make up for the fact theat the frame is tiny. It's a 54, and from what I am hearing I should be on a 60. I pull my bike next to other guys my height, and my bike looks like a fucking kids bike. LOL.
I guess that makes me the dumbass for going along with it, but now I know better!

Just curious what shop sold u the wrong size? Also I am 6'3'' and ride 61cm time trial frame with drops for road, and a 62cm Surly Steamroller fixed, and a 22" Surly 1x1 for Polo, freewheel.

You got reamed badly! What bike shop was this? They should take this bike back no questions asked and get you the right size. A 54 is WAY off.

Yeah no shit. I'd rather not say which shop, as I'm sure I'll start a huge internet flame war. This is a very well known popular trendy shop on the westside. Let's just say I'm never going back, for damn sure. I'm new to fixie/road biking (I finally sold my bmx to try something new) and I swear these fixie bike shops are worse than skate/surf shops, which are notorious for "I don't give a crap, because you are not as cool as me" sleazy employees.
I asked the guy if the bike was the right size and he said "as long as it fits underneath you it's all good." I freely admit I was fucking clueless. Coming from a bmx (which are tiny) and skateboading background, it was all new to me.
I'm gving the frame to my WIFE, and am looking into buying a new frame this weekend. I have a lot of great components I can swap over to the new frame, and I can build it up right. My wife rode my bike over the weekend with the seat down. She's like 5'6 and it fit her perfect. AGGGG!

small frames are more manuverable and are easy to do tricks on. you went to la brakeless (a shop that specializes in fixed gear builds for bmx tricks) and they hooked it up and now you feel ripped off.

Dude, everyone knows it was labrakeless. They've been reaming peeps for some time now. You're not the first to complain about them.

being skanky and lanky i think you should ride a 60
i'm 6'2" with a 29 inseam and i keep my seat at minimum insertion teehee
but yeah stay with a 60, it's more comfortable... like skating a 8.25", it's just man-sized ya feel me?

Dude, buy a 60 cm Mercier Kilo TT for 349.99 at bikesdirect.com, get a brake at bikeisland.com, and put it together at Bikerowave.
You'll save a lot of money and have a really solid bike.
I can't believe those jackasses sold a 6'2" guy a 54cm bike.

Thanks everyone for you input. Again, it's partly my fault for being an ignorant "eager beaver" in the shop. The good news is that I get a new frame, and my wife gets a new ride too. LOL!

It's all good, I ended up getting good wheels, cranks, etc. Just the frame is an issue.
