what would cause slipping of the chain on a fixie? chain is tight...and im pretty sure its not the wheel losing traction...altho my tire is getting fucked up....
o and WTF did the video go on the homepage with the chick with her giant headphones!? i want a copy of that!

sounds like your hub is stripped. if you don't have a brake, stop riding immediately. your chain was probably too tight. you can bootleg-fix it with JB weld or locktite, or you can replace the hub.

not necessarily a stripped hub. you probably just have tighten down the cog and lockring. if there's any extra threading between the lockring and the hub, you're cog will slip up and down it when you exert pressure backwards and forwards on the drivetrain.

if it's just jiggling, try tightening the chain ring bolts. that can make your chain feel loose. if while you're pedaling your cranks slip a half turn, you may have stripped your hub.

Try all the above. Chainring bolts, cog, lockring tight? Is the driveline straight? If all that is fine check if the frame is straight.
Also is it a conversion? Not all old frames can be converted to a fixie, some will work better than others. Some frames will flex when you try to skid or go fast. Use to happen to an old Univega I converted. I ran it singlespeed, problem stopped.

Aren't these fixies suppose to be low maintenance / no maintenance? You guys always seem to be having this problem. What gives?
