Men who cycle more than 186 miles a week face fertility risk
Spending too long in the saddle could affect a man’s chances of fatherhood.
Cycling for long distances greatly reduces sperm quality and raises the risk of fertility
problems, a study has revealed.
It found that just 4 per cent of the sperm of athletes pedalling 185 miles a week – around 25 miles a day – were a normal, ‘healthy’ shape.
In the most fertile men, the figure was up to 20 per cent. It said that saddle friction and tight, hot clothing could be to blame, while the position a man sits in could affect blood flow.
This stress on the body results in an abnormal increase in special molecules which in turn alter sperm quality.
Professor Diana Vaamonde, of Spain’s Cordoba University Medical School, told the
European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology’s conference in Amsterdam that, even though the men tested were professional triathletes, anyone who cycles could be at risk.
She said: 'We believe all the factors inherent in this sports activity, especially with regards to the cycling part, may affect sperm quality.
'Protective measures for these sportsmen need to be developed. These could include giving antioxidants and modifying training regimes.
'Or we could take preventative measures by freezing athletes’ sperm.'

It seems possible that if you are trying to have a baby, you can stop cycling and reverse the damage of hot, tight clothing and abnormal body position. in either case, mind your perineum, guys.

Seriously though.
I think these studies are total phooey. there lots of different types of saddles and lots more different body types.
If you get a weekly taint massage, use the right saddle, and chill on biking if you ever experience pain or numbness, your willy will be good to go for years to come.

As far as having kids go, I feel it's alright if people like the Amish, or those farmers in Southeast Asian countries have as many as they want.
These groups typically use natural resources more conservatively and try not to spoil their children with typical material goods.
Now, typical, LDS-like families that sprout 10-15 or more kids and feel that each kid needs their own room, their own ATV, their own TV, their own everything, these are the people that definitely need to be curbed.

It has nothing to do with hot tight clothing. I read an article in my school's data base that talked about cycling and the temperature of your testicles. Cycling, in bike gear, does not cause your testicles to heat up. There is not damage to your troopers because you wear spandex unless you've got a pair a size too small and it's pressing your balls against your body
