THE DAY THE GHOST BIKES STOPPED

I believe it would be safe to assume that everyone here is TIRED of seeing new ghost bikes being constructed due to little more than a lack of respect for cyclists. Simply put, in this society, cyclists are those people who actively put their money where their mouth is, taking risks everyday like the warriors of old in order to push their own weight, with responses of ridicule or disdain from the metal passers-by, more often than not. It's time we collectively stopped crying like infants or licking at our wounds like old hounds, and take action.
Most of the old timers sought and achieved change through the spillage of blood, and we have already suffered this, but the blood spilled has been none but our own, and this should by all empirical measures suffice to appease even the most scrutinizing of critics.
A committee has begun formation in order to work towards more specific and visible victories in this arena. It does not have any aim other than unifying all willing participants to facilitate a more collective focus in this journey to a better and more appreciative world for bikes and their ridazz.

That, however, is not to be perceived as a disapproval of ghost bikes on my part. On the contrary, I have come to respect the practice, but personally am tired of it's necessity.
In fact our first substantial line of business is aptly named: The Rise of the Dead Ride
A preliminary and organizing sit-down will take place this week for all involved parties.
Stay tuned.

We haven't been acquainted, but on the surface, from the look of things, you seem a bit confused. You are welcome to just sit back and watch, which as probability would dictate, you are most likely well accustomed to.

tivu, thanks for addressing this.
I'm working on my second ghost bike in as many years. I didn't know either rider, but I felt compelled both times to do something. Turns out both cyclists, for whom both ghost bikes are (or were) being constructed are from the same cycling group. This means that there are some riders whom I only know because of the deaths of their friends. This is absurd.
I'm excited to hear about your plans.

Preliminary meeting was productive. Logistics and city permits were discussed and are on their way to solidifying, proposal packets will be assembled and delivered. Structure is beginning to take form. That's all that can be said for the time being.
Hasta la victoria damas y compañeros.

tivu,
Your language is as encouraging and as vague as the bicycle master plan, RIP.
Regardless, I fully support your intentions, and encourage your existence as much as it is feasible for me to do so.
