65 miles: 40 slightly uphill and 25 downhill.
You will need to rehydrate, and refuel so for this ride I recommend the following:
Road bike, helmet, 2 water bottles, enough food to get you through this ride, strong riders. This ride is not for the weak.

Los Angeles Critical Mass rides through the city of Los Angeles, exerting our right under California Law to ride bicycles on the street.
This is a easy-paced ride.
Fixed-gear fast riders are encouraged to cork intersections then ride up to the front of the pack and cork again.

The People's Ride was designed for those who cannot make it to LA Critical Mass or want to continue to ride when LACM is over.
It is similar to Critical Mass in scope and ideology, but with more organization. A route will be determined and disseminated to the riders. Again this is a slower ride, not for messenger racers or speed demons, though they are encouraged to ride with us and cork inters...

beholden to no one, a man living his own way, a man with a Van. The butterlap is chaperoned by kathryn aaker, the good shepherd of the
ride over the millennia.
The butterlap starts at the ferry building, makes several stops to re-group/swill drinks, and finishes (typically) at bender's at s. van
ness/19th, where there are seitan 'fish' tacos and delicious beers to be had.

 Time to get moving Burners. So much time and so little to do. No, strike that. Reverse it.
Almost a month away, its time to get together, meet, hang out and figure out lots of loose ends. EVERYONE should come to this meeting...even if you have been to BM since day one...even if you haven't bought your ticket yet...even if you're not even sure you're going...YOU SHOULD COME TO THIS MEETING.
We'll eat, drink beer at the patio of the Oinkster (they'll have special cheap beer pitcher prices just for us).

What should I bring?
A bicycle and some refreshments are most important.
Many different types of bicycles are brought to the game. Most of the regulars are on fix-gears with a very
low gear ratio (< 2:1) and flat or mustache bars. Unmodified mountain bikes or cruisers are just fine. A road
bicycle with drop bars is the most challenging to play with (your hand isn't in the proper place for braking and
maneuvers). For refreshments, I recommend something cool and relaxing. Bring some to share and you can
make friends.
