THE FUTURE RIDE!!!!!!
Thread started by
speedybrian2000 at 01.4.08 - 3:29 pm
How will the Midnight Ridazz Rides be 25 years from now? Will we all be rollin' on 1000c automatic geared 50mph roadbikes? Will there be any fixies? Will our beach cruisers be so obsolete that they will become vintage collector's items? Will we have spoke cards? Will we have spokes? Will we become an underground ensemble, secretive from society?
How does everyone think how ridazz will dress in the future, twenty-five years from now? Some ideas might be space helmets, silver space suits, shiny latex, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, all white, see-thru, etc.
* I need help in putting together a futuristic playlist! What kind of music does everyone think we will play in the future?

Don't know if any of you remeber the new version of Buck Roger's in the 25st century TV show in the late 1970's. They would dance to electronica music. I would trip on that, and thought there is no way that there would ever be music like that, that people would want to listen to.

When i visited LA for the first time back in 86? The Wave was just starting and they had the coolest thing for the top of the hour. They hired people to act out little parts or stories and would tie in "4 o'clock" into the story at exactly 4 o'clcok. So the voice actor would actually speak the words at the right time. It was pretty clever. I don't know if they did that 24/7 but always in the afternoon. That was back in the days when i was way into electronic music like Tangerine Dream and New Agey stuff.

No kidding. My friend is a big Coil fan and he lost a huge part of his record collection a few years back, that piece of his collection included all his Coil. He had moved too much and left records in the hands of others.
Spur of the moment we drove to Phoenix to try to find that part of his collection to no avail. Left at 11pm on a Friday night, drove to Phoenix, couldn't find his records on Saturday morning, said Fuck It, lets go to TJ, and was back in LA at 11pm on Saturday night.
He's such an idiot.

yes I rocked out with dokken, was even at the Magic Mountain show when all you had to do was bring a 7-up can after 5pm and you got in the park for $3 dollars. That place was so packed that there was 9000 people there to see one of two shows they would play that would hold 3000 people each show.
I did a big a naughty that night, that I will have to tell you about it in person, ask me. It a story that is 20 years old and should never be told on line or over the phone.
I could never get KNAC in at my house during it's hey day.
Dave Koz, who was Mr. Wave (morning radio host, and they heavy rotation of his music) up until about a year ago, was a customer at my work, we would always talk. One day I asked him if he ever wanted to get on the air and say WHOO-YA? He just looked at me blank and had no idea what I was talking about, and he grow up in LA and told me he listen to rockn'roll...go figure.

Man where are you guys getting all your info? I have alot of stuff that people mention, SPK, Coil, Current 93, etc etc. I was the import buyer at Tower in Sacramento in the 80's. I collected alot of the rare shit. There's a compilation I have with a cut from Coil. This was one of my favorite comps. The album was by Abstract magazine Titled Life at the Top. There's a cut from coil called Homage To Sewage. To this day I haven't really found a good site that cataloged alot of what I have. For example the best reference I can find for the Life at the Top comp is this link, http://brainwashed.com/coil/writings/abstract.html
BTW, this album came with a magazine. Very highly recommended if you could ever find it. Every cut is awesome cut.
So where the fuck is there a good site that has all this cataloged? BTW, I took a look at the homepage of http://brainwashed.com and there's this one artist that still performs. She must have been fuckin young when she started! Anyways her name was Annie Anxiety, now it's Little Annie, http://www.myspace.com/littleannieakaannieanxietybandez I don't know much about what she is putting out now, but her early stuff is pretty noisy. Worth taking a looksie.

Sad, but true . . . but just think, back in the past they tried to imagine what the future was like, for example "2001: A Space Oddysey" had people going to the moon like they were going to Las Vegas for the weekend, ha! And weren't we all supposed to be driving flying cars by now? Only a few real nutcases like Phillip K. Dick figured out that it wasn't all about technology making our lives "better".
Anyway, back in the past we thought 2008 was way in the future. Now we're here, right, only who thought we'd be all riding around on bikes and having the time of our lives?
"The past is over, the future lies ahead, only the present is real"
Am I making any sense? I'm way too sober . . .

this hijacking thought is dogmatic. If I ask you how your sons education is going and the conversation leads to us talking about fixing your garage, and your mother in-law coming to visit, does that mean we have hijacked the conversation. Life doesn't happen that way, thats what make life interesting. Conversations take on lives of their own. Even hijacking rides, make its more interesting. Like when we went up Barham. That was fun, and it shook everything up and had people engaging with each other in a different way.
Lighten up, and let life happen. Cyper hug anyone?
could you imagine if everything went as planned. BORING!

in the future, the human population will be so dense that living bodies will stand shoulder to shoulder across the entire planet and will stack 10 - 20 high. the roughest types of humans will be called upon to catch floaters on top so as to form a protective barrier much like skin cells protect our bodies. eventually, there will be so many trillions of humans that arm-like extremities will form and will eventually evolve into giant sized wings. That's when true space travel will be possible.

I saw something scarier (and real). Apparently, in Japan, they have a huge problem with an aging population, and not enough young women having babies. Basically, their population, if current trends continue, is expected to shrink by a third by 2050. Rather than allowing more immigrants, politicians would rather look to the robotics industry to provide elder care, and to provide a type of work force.
A temporary fix at best, and an attempt by politicos to avoid sensitive social issues.

However, this only happened in a nanosecond and just enough to throw the date/time of the Ride further out beyond our grasp.
Think of it as unsynchronized audio in a martial arts film.
The Future ride is the mouth that keeps moving, and everything else is the voice that finished the sentence 30 seconds ago.
Keeping with that, In the future, Unsynchronized time will loop right into another time frame.

Obvious will be to dress up as either Jake or Elwood, can imagine a shitload of black suits and thin ties, Fedora hats, Ray Ban glasses, etc. We will play Blues, Soul, R&B music and I think it will be absolutely one of the bestest rides ever!!
Ive offered to be in charge or contribute to the play list as I have a lot of good blues stuffs. I can start loading my IPOD up and if any of you have stuff you want to add or request bring it.
The Blues Brothers Ride mofos, the Blues Brothers Ride mofos!!

Well there's one bright spot to canceling the ride! You guys can work more on the play list and BBD's sound system will be ready then. It will be out of the shop SUPPOSEDLY Monday.
BTW, can you play some Banana Splits, The Monkees, Some early Abba, and if you really want to get the crowd rocking, some Air Supply?

Weather.com is saying rain all night, with better odds as the night goes on. Gonna have to be a judgement call come ride time? There's a little bar, Universal Bar and Grill on Lankershim, that we could easily take over. Probably only holds about 100 so I guess it depends on the turn out. But it's about a block from the Red Line so it makes it easy for anyone goin back downtown....side thought.

accuwather has it over 60% from 8pm and on tonight. They had the same forecast during that time it poured hard on one S&S ride... they were spot on. But again... who knows. KABC's Live Doppler Radar HD 7000 has a break in the clouds above L.A. but the animated radar has rain coming in right after. I hate the rain and bike ride nights. Especially since this is 2nd time in a row for the cruz with us peeeps. Damn!!

This time, what you could do is at least OFFER to pay for the work. Its what I would do if I messed someones bike because I was not looking. Im actually surprised and a little bothered that you have not offered thus far and if you havent yet, you probably wont. Call me crazy, but I couldnt let myself get by without fixing a bike that I messed up.

@leoleo.
Next time you need some money for the work performed, please say so.
Not trying to sound like an ass, but I'm the type that usually answers a direct, closed-ended request from another.
Not to mention, I had gone with only two hours of sleep in a 48hr period that day, so I was already kind of thinking slow.
If it makes you feel better, I'll slip you a twenty at the next ride.
I just don't want this to end like the Source Awards, now.

Thats the thing, I dont think I should have to ask you for it. And its not about the money. If I messed up your bike, the first thing I would do is step up and offer to pay for it.

Fellow Ridazz, here ye here, long ago in a universe far in the future I wrote A TREATISE ON BIKE ETIQUETTE. Here is entry 43.22.7:
If you run into someone say you're sorry. Inspect the runnee's bike and if it is apparent that there is damage immediately offer to fix or pay for a fix. At this point the runnee has the option to say "No biggie, give me a beer or a smoke", or give me your phone number or email and we'll take care of this later. The runnee does not have the option of immediately saying "GIMME $800 RIGHT NOW MOTHERFUCKER!!!"
There's more, but I'm old, I can't find my copy of the book, and my brain is rotten. srsly
