It's the opening of the "Yay for Motorists! Nay for Cyclists!" Griffith Park Light Festival.
The DWP, in an effort to help the City of LA become "America's Greenest City," has banned cyclists from the auto-centric, environmental nightmare known as the Griffith Park Light Festival.
This year approximately half million people will arrive at Griffith Park, the largest urban wilderness park in the country, while they will sit in idling automobiles for 90 minutes while they wait for their opportunity to drive through the one-mile long Festival of Lights.

Meet at the Oven (3706 N. Figueroa St. Los Angeles, CA 90065) at 12:45 p.m., we roll at 1 p.m. to the parade. We won’t be in the parade until 1:30 or 1:45. I’m going to have everything else arranged (paperwork, sign-in, etc.)
Bring the wildest bike you can find/ride. A bakfiets and rickshaw will be on hand.
We need a Ms. Bike Oven 2009 (gender no bar) - dress the part! Bearded ladies OK.

Space is limited to about 20-30 parking spaces, these spots are on a first-come first serve basis, no reservations will be given. Best to show up a little before 8:00 AM to stake out a space. The space is free, one space per person, you may need to share with smaller sellers.
Bring all your bicycle and mini bike goodies and be motivated to sell. We're trying this out to see if we'll do more in the future.

EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB - Highland Park Christmas Parade

Highland Park Christmas Parade
Meet up at 9:30am – We ride at 10am to Highland Park for parade check in.
Parade starts at 1pm. Total round trip mileage estimated 10 – 12 Miles easy pace lots of fun.
Decorate Bikes with Christmas and New Years Décor. All are welcomed,
Kids must wear helmets.
As always the EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB rides every SATURDAY, mornings at 10am
On December 20th will not ride at 10am instead we will ride at 3pm due to the Christmas Caroling Ride. And we ride every Tuesday Nights at 7pm.

Biking for Obama Kickoff Rally Extravaganza: LA-Encinitas

 When: Sunday, December 7th
Where: From Occidental College 1600 Campus Road 90041 to San Diego
Why: I'm kicking off my epic ride across the country with a ride from Occidental College to Encinitas. From there you can hop the Amtrak back to LA for about $20. Join for this first segment of the journey, or come along for the next portion of the ride through downtown San Diego on Monday the 6th.

Urban Double - 200 miles around the border of LA County

 This is an uber challenging ride, with slightly more than 200 miles and at least 5000 feet in elevation. This will be the most hard earned spoke card ever!
As far as I know, this route has never been attempted before. Slightly less than half the mileage will be urban terrain with stop lights and half in more scenic and bike friendly terrain. If you have only done one century, do not do this ride. There are rumors of a sweep van but this may not happen.
