My suggestion is DO IT! And my comment is DO IT!

I concur with PC on the DO IT/DO IT. I'm a former architect, currently in recovery. And a stinkin' hippie. I'd go.

I'm down for this ride too. We should start with the basics and explain what a farm is for those that may not know.

On a more serious note, some kind of tour along the lines of people that have turned their lawns into a garden may also be an idea. I believe there was an article I read in LA Times that had the title of "Eating your Yard" or something to that effect. I tried to find it, but couldn't.

Update *

Thanks for all the motivating inspiration as far as Do It.

But, the real reason I decided to start this thread prior to posting the ride is because LA is my major and I wanted to connect with other similar people - -to share ideas and the like.On the other hand I've decided that November is a great month for this ride.;...because of harvest time and..Thanks Giving.

Bless Up Y'all !

Good to know you're coming Katie Poche...long time no see PC hope all is Irie with you.

Like a Victory Garden in WWII England! But without the notion of supporting troops during wartime!

No!

Only people I know of with an actual farm are my stepdad's sister and husband out in rural Indiana.
I could always get some tips and info from them regarding operations, then see how these measure up to SoCal farming.
Their farm is a stereotypical, "Barnyard", "Green Acres", country music-style type of farm.
Corn, Alfalfa, switch-grass, seed-grain, Squash -rows, and Sunflower seeds are just some of the fine examples of goods that come from their partcular farm.

Another farm that would be good to check out locally would be one of them "pizza farms".
Where all the ingredients for a typical pizza are either grown/raised organically, and the finished product is served on the spot.
Cool thing is the fact that the pizza-farm is actually sliced and shaped like a large-scale pizza.
With all the aspects of ingredients on a separate slice of acreage.

Lets clear the air on this one, yes I'am a manscape architect.
Yet this has nothing to do with landscaping,,,,,only manscaping, and I'am good at that.

Although I have no landscaped architect, I actually have nothing growing on my property.

How about you use my fertile, yet baron land as your project. Come on riders, you ride to the GH to work out your thighs, and work on your farm project.

I'll have beer for you, if Dingo isn't here.

I can manscape you when you need it.

The Spiraldemon offered this service to me, Asian gardener, nah, well maybe, he did gravitate to the TWBG

the goats ate tin cans just like in the cartoons. the pony was at least 60 years old and just moped around and i fed it apples.

I want a damned pony.

I totally skipped over the "Glad you're coming" bit to me, Kata -- thanks!

Whether we go to a working farm with goats and tin cans or a pizza-shaped pizza farm (that's just too cute), or ... a fine example of manscape architecture ... I can't finish that sentence, I lost my train of thought.

But plz do the rides anyway. Architecture and land use are endlessly fascinating to me, and I can't be the only one out here who feels that way (if I were, I'd be the only person showing up to RIDE-Arc). It would be cool to visit some parks as well, and the landscape architect types present on the ride could critique them as to how well their designers understood the needs and desires of the people who would be using them. Yes?

Uh oh -- I hope that, by playing along with the goofy, I didn't come across as flip. My sincere apologies. I truly think the Landscape Architecture ride is an awesome idea, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for appropriate events/locations, too.

Damned silliness of mine, always getting me in trouble.

We ran into some bike ridin landscape architects on Park[ing] Day.

Hey. Hi! Maybe you are already on this thread. I'm not so good at associating handles, real names and faces.

Ideas? Maybe we can do a tour of the Park-gonna-be El Torro base?
http://www.metropolismag.com/cda/story.php?artid=2976
It includes a balloon ride ????
Whaa???
Free Balloon ride!!!
We could take the train to OC
