Hollywood Ridazz - Fat Tuesday on a Friday

Don't forget your beads and masks. Hollywood Ridazz is partying New Orleans style.
Meet at Rite Aid at 9 and ride at 9:30. We'll end at a Red Line station and i think we should end in time for those who need to catch the train home, but no promises.

hmm, there's a chance of rain, so this could get interesting, however, it's supposed to clear up by fri nght, we'll see.

it's supposed to rain through tomorrow morning, so it should be fine by night.
Knuckles, I hope yo'ure aware of the mess in place near Hollywood & Highland for that celebrity circle-jerk, aka Academy Awards.

how appropriate for Dak to post at 4:20.
why are you worried about rain? it's just water, and your bike has fenders, too. I know you've ridden in the rain before, Dak

Yes, but Dak's chromed steel rims don't do that well in the rain.
Rain would kill the turnout too.

Yes it would be fun to carry Big Butt Borfo on the back of the Tandem
We could take off one of the peddles on your hurt knee side and you could pedal on your good side, then you will get a baby leg on your hurt knee side, That would be some funny stuff.
I don't know if I'm able to make it tommorrow. Let me know what you think BBB. I'll email you the number to the batphone.
Any ideas or knowledge onplaces to put together some costume. I love dressing up and don't have an idea about what to wear. Thats if I can show up tommorrow.

yeah, pay attention Spiral. I LOVE riding in the rain. Chrome rims and all. It's all good. But it's NOT raining, so that's not a concern.
I just don't know how to do the "Mardi Gras" thing. Maybe a sequined bra and some feathers? I don't know.

Aw hell yeah that route looks fly!
Did you guys figure it would be too big of a mess/traffic jam/cops/irate drivers etc. to go buzz the Oscar nonsense they have set up at Hollywood & Highland?
City Hobgoblin02.23.07 - 3:54 pm
reply
part of the fun is the route is never set in stone. if the group wants to change it to run by the oscars, i have no problem with it. we'll let the ridazz be the decidazz
brassknuckle02.23.07 - 4:12 pm
reply
another part of the fun is getting stoned on the route
spiraldemon02.23.07 - 4:42 pm
reply
Honestly ... I totally spaced out on the whole oscars thing.
i dont think we even considered it for better or worse.
It seems like that zone will be an impenetrable mess.
Regardless,
I recommend not diverting from the route however, the MR Godzz frown on that about as much as they do when i ridaa gets lazy and hops on the bus.
Winter Solstace ride we had all sorts of problems (see RB's wheely crash video) and I attribute that to our diverting from the sacred spokecard.

Mad fun, guys. The wind and the cold I could have done without, but otherwise it was all good. If you heard drunken singings of Cole Porter verses last night, that was me.
Oh yeah, I'm OK from eating shit on Hyperion last night. I'm just thankful that I didn't cause anyone else to crash. I haven't seen one bruise yet, though my right shoulder does have a bit of residual strain.
I'm in Silver Lake on that hill east of the reservoir, so I just rode home after getting some Fred 62 breakfast and having a very strong Jack and Coke at my friend Michelle's in HiFi.
I got home at 5:31 a.m., an auspicious time for all you bike nerdzz!

I'll second that: Bright lights -- big city -- new places -- new folks -- all during a party on wheels! Thanks guys!
Re getting back, I wasn't sure when going out about parking at the Rite Aid, so I Redined it in from from Universal City, having been properly fully warned that I might not get my money's worth out of an MTA day pass.
Never done Cahuenga, so it's time to try it now!! Uphill all OK if slow, but I didn't take a left over the big bridge at the Citywalk entrance, instead continuing straight down a hill. Gee, no traffic, this is great. But oops.... it's a a DEAD END. Hahaha on me. There are a few little streets going up and away from there, but wtf, don't want to get dead-ended again. So its back UP to the CW bridge, across and down the REAL Cauhenga.

to get home, I rode up to Los Feliz, around the L.A. River path, to the SFV, and into Panorama City. it was the perfect distance for riding fixed: a little over 1.5hrs of riding. I just wanted to ride after refueling at Fatburger and getting loaded with booze & 420 again.
thanks to: tricky & brassnuts for organizing, 420 for 420, fuzz for beer, rich for dressing like a crazy person, and everyone for riding
good times: blunts, beer, and bikes

OverTheHill: You were on the right track going straight on Cahuenga, which becomes Buddy Holly Drive / Coral Drive after the "CityWalk bridge" (called Universal Studios Boulevard). Next time take the last right turn before the dead end, called Hotel Drive. Hotel is about 50 seconds of leg-burning, out-of-the-seat climbing but that'll place you near the western CityWalk parking lots, adjacent to the Hilton and Sheraton. From there you can turn left and fly downhill on the steep grade known as Universal Terrace Parkway / Universal City Plaza / Universal Hollywood Drive which spits you out at the Universal Red Line station / Lankershim Boulevard.
Thanks to 'knuckles and co. for a sweet ride.

There's something about LA after a rain a "cleansing" wind from the North that makes everything so much nicer. The crispness of the air made the views and bright lights stand out more than usual. Flushing the lungs with some of that crispness (and any other crispness one can flush the lungs with) is a nice change of pace.
After ending back up at the Rite Aid, I decided to burn a few more miles out solo and probably ended up riding another ten miles with some nice hills added in. It was a great night to ride and today was a good day to sleep RIp Van Winkle style...for 13 hours. I think I'll go ride my bike some more.
