We really need to make this a big turn out. Danny, ask Roadblock if we can do this for a future 2nd friday of the month ride? And can we try do it within L.A. County this time, perhaps?
Post it Zucko - and remember to implement the "rules":
1. Tell everyone about pillow fight ride
2. Tell everyone about pillow fight ride
3. Arrive with pillow hidden in bike bag
4. When Big Bike Dan blasts the music - begin!
5. Don't hit anyone without a pillow - unless they ask
6. LEAVE NO TRACE
7. Ride!
With the Relational Pillow project, we are trying to provide a simple, intimate, and personable communication medium between loved ones. The pillows are capable of sensing touch information, and displaying incoming touch data as a pattern of lights that show the outline "drawn" upon the remote pillow. Pillows can connect to each other over the network so that this sense of touch can be shared across long distances. The physical sensation of holding a pillow and interacting with it builds upon the idea of using the natural features of the object in order to achieve a deeper connection between the users, without interfering in the communication process itself.
2. Professional pillow fights are won via pinfall, surrender, or referee stoppage. If a pillow fight ends at the time limit with no winner, a winner is declared by a three-judge committee, using the traditional 10 point system. Pillow fighters are judged based on Style, Stamina, and the Eye of the Tiger.
3. Pillow fighting is Fun. No biting, scratching, or hair pulling. Malicious intent and blatant disregard of your opponent's safety (or your own) may result in immediate suspension and/or dismissal from the League.
4. Mouth guards, knee pads and elbow pads are mandatory.
5. Bearing in mind Rule #3, most anything goes in a pillow fight, as long as there is a pillow at the point of contact. Preventing your opponent's offense by holding her pillow is not allowed.
6. Pillow fighters must practice good sportswomanship. No rude, lewd, or suggestive behavior.
7. A pillow is not a weapon. Deliberately compressing the pillow fibres to increase the density of the pillow is not allowed. Loading a pillow with any foreign object is strictly forbidden.
if this is your first ride and have any questions please feel free to contact me, I'll fill you in on the ride info, what to bring, come out and ride!
"Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned"- Tyler
Hey, is this ride good for a first timer who doesn't like hills? Not me, I like hills and I like long rides, but I wanna bring my girlfriend who hates hills (but loves pillows) and it'll be her first group ride. Any plans on posting the route before the ride?
as a courtesy use a clean washed pillow and pillow case,
let's see some Midnight Ridazz ART on these pillow cases, if you planned to bring your star wars circa 1979 pillow case bring it, just dont get mad if it gets jacked up.
(At BK start point this will be quickly explained)
We will be riding to a break spot and mingle with our pillows concealed and with straight faces at a public location. After people have put their bikes down and are settled and conversing, there will be a count down on the Megaphone
" READY, THREE, TWO, ONE - PILLOW FIGHT!"
The pillow fight will last for several minutes, or until we are asked to leave. Before we leave, make sure to pick up any trash, or pillow fluff you make have left. We will have plastic bags.
Please do not leave any trace behind.
Also, refrain from using Feather Pillows. We then ride to the next rest stop and have another pillow fight.
Please do not hit people without pillows.
(I'm not in charge of this, I'm just trying to help this to be a fun event.)
Thanks for being positive and cooperative with this experimental event idea.
Borfo -
I don't think you should volunteer a location on-line without asking them first.
me -
Thanks Joe for stepping up and volunteering your place for the sleep over! I must say, you are one of the most admired ridazz here. Not only for all that you do, but for what you don't do too. You don't go and volunteer to do stuff and then back out of it. For that, your tops in my book man!
Hopefully this ride will be my first time on a bike in 4 weeks due to crash resulting in 3 lost teeth....all i ask is dont hit the dude with no front teeth in the face.
First, props to anyone who takes on leading a ride. But the organizers of this ride might want to take a break for a little while. That was one of the most confusing rides I have ever been on. its 2:16 am and I think they are still wondering the streets. Maybe thats considered hardcore, but all that waiting around really took me and my friends out of the zone. Still...Ride On!
Yeah their still out there ridiing! Its 2:20am and I turned left on Vermont when they all went right. But yeah this ride was crazy. Too many turns and hills.
Maybe I turned off too early to see all this confusion? We left after the Downtown fight since we were close to home. All in all a great ride on my end. Again maybe things went different but up until about 45 minutes ago the ride was awesome. Thanks to all involved. Always fun.
pillow mania was the shit dot com....i had so much freaken fun ..thanx Ridazz, great theme.....Alec thanx for the pillow i plowed it quite well,,, "he he"....great trun out with an old school feel,,, hell yeah i had a great night OVER all....
Crazy fun ride. Crashes, cops, the girl who fainted in the park. I got a semi blurry pic of the cops putting the bracelets on the dude. That and some more pics here http://www.flickr.com/photos/rossangeles/
Thanks to all that put this ride together. It was totally PSYCHE!
You guys rock and rock hard!
The dude that was cuffed on 7th street was ticketed and let go. Took at least an hour, but he was let go. Some of us stuck around to make sure things went like it was suppose to.
Something that was really fucked up was some dudes did a drive by with a paintball gun while we were at the 7-11. One dude got hit in the eye and had to go to the hospital. This maybe a long shot, but did anyone happen to see the car in one of their pics? Someone saw them do this but assumed that no one got hit. It's understandable he was assume that, but next time, assume the worst and get a license plate number.
If anyone has info on the dude who got hit in the eye please post that info. I hope no serious damage happened to his eye. People doing drive by's with paintball guns need to get jummped.
Thank you to Danny Zuko and the Hooligans for this awesome ride!
I love pillow fight club!
Props to Big Bike Harry for pulling the load for us!
when your trailer clipped me right before pan pacific, i think i took a few of your lights w/ me on the way down - gave them to a few other ridazz and said "i think those are harry's." hope you got em back!
A few riders armed with these, stationed around the perimeter, could have retaliated against the terrorists who attacked us with their high-powered paintball guns.
Pillow fight #2
-ask people to be chill while pillow fighting. Have fun. Don’t hurt people. (I got hit twice, hard enough to give me an instant headache).
-much shorter ride, more pillow fighting.
Lawrence is going to be alright- no permanent damage (probably?). By the time we left cedar-sinai (5:30am) his vision in the injured eye was returning. I'll give him a call soon.
Thanks so much for those who assisted with the incident at pan pacific park, the turkey sandwich really helped out! I did not know that M.R. rolls with a general practitioner in the house, his aid was much appreciated!
The route was excellent, I hope the Gent that lost his hat rolling down hill, downtown attempting to stop his fixie Fred Flintstone style, is Okay?
PF 2 Much needed, lets invite those feces with no testicles and paintball guns to ride along, grow a pair and pick up a P I L L O W!
"Also to the 3 guys that fell down making that crazy right turn by the library, hope u guys are okay. that was pretty brutal!"
I was one of those guys! I'm fine, a dude ran into me from behind and took me down with him. I think he got the worse part of the fall. On my end, my bartape took the worst of the fall! haha
Breaking my glasses during the first pillow fight was probably more of a bust. Been wearing my girl's glasses all day just so I can ride without hitting potholes...
Hell ya. Last night was dope. Thanks to all the outstreched hands when I fell over trying to trackstand drunk.
Also. You should have seen the looks on peoples faces when we walked into jumbos before the ride and My Homie had his tigger pillow sticking out of his bag.
This is the second year I've spent my birthday doing Midnight Ridazz. I can't think of anything else I would rather do.

Thanks for your concern S.B.P....I made it out ok, with only a little bit of scratches on my leg. I'll admit, probably wasn't the best stopping method, but the most logical at the time. I'm just glad that I fall while going down that hill. I hope those who did are ok.
Thanks again to the rida who picked up my hat. Much appreciated.
Also, while at 7-11 I got hit by a paintball/pellet too!
Anyway, great ride! I had a blast. It had been awhile since I was able to come out and ride with you guys. I hope to return soon!
YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING NUTS!!!! man, DANNY< you fuckin rock dude, good way to start out the new year!!!! thanks to all the party animals that "hooked" me up, I'M GETTING TO OLD OLD FOR THIS SHIT, DID SOMEBODY SAY "PF 2"???????????
Man, paintball attacks and I'm stuck at home with a recently tuned, recumbent and a full-auto, 250rd, Spyder Xtra!!!
That's it, move, or no move yet, I'm coming down to one of the biggies this month.
And I'm gonna conceal that muthafucka in a violin case!!!
Awesome ride Danny. None of the complaints are legit, just whining. It was a good ride, the pillow fights were fun as hell, I got clocked a couple times by elbows and knuckles, but that's what happens when you get in the middle of a fray. The ride got challenging only towards the end with the crazy hills, but most people we breaking off by then.
It's something to consider on future rides, keep the challenging stuff towards the end, and with ample warning.
Sorry the vid is so short. Actually calling it short is an understatement.
I hit the time elapse mode on my camera by mistake. 2 minutes of footage became two seconds. I'm now considering making all my videos 5 seconds long. Could pull in the growing ADD demographic. Thanks for a great ride.
I'm really happy everyones inner child came out and played, lookin at those pics make s me me :) big time so i should be thanking all of you, as for the paint ball incident i just have one thing to say... Cowards.
I hope the ridazz who got hurt durning this ride recover soon and come out and ride with us again,
Great ride despite a few issues . . . shit happens. Ridazz is an on-going process, we'll adjust accordingly and move on.
At what point in our 7-11 stop did the paint ball incident occur and what direction did it come from? Anybody know how many shots were fired? I was unaware of it until I read about it here, but then a curious thing happened: when I got on my bike Saturday afternoon, I noticed a big glob of blue paint on the chainring and a small part of a paint ball shell. I was hit, too! I suspect I was probably on the bike when it happened because when we were stopped at 7-11 my bike was leaning on it's right side against the wall at the east end of the parking lot and this paint ball hit looks like it came from the right side.
This could turn into another Warren Commission, sheesh . . .
The paintball attack happened about five or ten minutes after we all rode up to the 7-11. I needed to take a relieve myself after a liter of water. So I leaned my bike against the newspaper stand near 3rd street. Hatehills told me to go around the back of 7-11 to do my thing.
When I came back, some guy was wiping paint off his jacket. He told us that a car drove by on 3rd street and fired four maybe five salvos of paintballs at the group. He said one guy was hit in the eye and hurt pretty badly. No one saw the car, so we have no real witnesses.
It sucks that these types of things happen, but the ridazz are not loved by everyone - - especially some of the drivers. We need to be more aware of our surrounding's next time when we do a rest stop. Funny that this kind of incident occurs a few blocks from the Grove. We don't seem to have this kind of trouble in East LA or down on Olympic and Crenshaw.
Damn, looks like I missed a fun ride. I was tempted to ditch the double metric century and join you guys.
That's messed up, the paintball drive-by. I hope they do it again and get punked, 'cause it's _always_ a good idea to roll up to a bunch of cyclists who have adrenaline and booze in their blood and cameras in their pockets!
The cops singled me out because, apparently, I was riding on the wrong side of the road (which I wasnt). I have no idea why they handcuffed me, its not like I was violent or anything.. just a little belligerent. Anyway, they proceeded to try to throw the book at me(which took a damn hour). Four BS citations later, they let me go.
Whatever the case may be, thanks to the group that stuck around, you guys are awesome for that. Although getting ticketed sucks, this isnt going to deter me from riding one bit. See you guys at the next ride `=]
Oh man Ross! That's a shame your video got zipped short... I was looking forward to watching it when I saw you were filming. I also noticed that Arturo "Edy" Lopez was there! I want to meet that guy so badly. What happened to his new plans for bike for sleeping? Did he make it? I hope he liked the ride.
Yeah. I'll try and get it together for filming the next big ride. Was breaking in a new digi cam. That was indeed Edy Lopez. I got him to come on his first ride and he loved it. My dad just hooked him up with a new mig welder so Bicycle for Sleeping will ride again soon. It's been over 6 months since the car ran him down on it, so it was dope to see him fully mobile and back on the horse.
Hit him up next ride. He's the friendliest guy I know.
Hey everybody, I just want to check in with a status update. Lawrence is fine and has no permanent damage to his eye. Attached is a picture at the hospital. Thanks for your concern, you're a real mensch...all of you.
