Oh man, she is going to flip...
I bet you are crying arent you?? jajajajaja
She is the Rida Of All My Weeks!
Is there ever a time she is there and its NOT a good time? Some people just got it like that, I guess. She is creative non-stop, always taking care of anyone in need, and when she gets excited she bounces like Thumper! Aww I miss you!
What do you want to be when you grow up? Do you want to grow up? Do you see yourself riding bikes a lot twenty years from now? Do you think you'll be doing it in the same way?
Who brought you to your first MR, or did you go on your own? Were you sold immediately, or was it an acquired taste for you?
I seriously love that girl. She is never not happy and always manages to put me in a good mood every time she is around. And she always cracks me up. So glad Nicole is Rida of the Week.
nicole has balls. if you haven't seen them, they are probably rolling down sunset right now, still pin balling and in motion from when she broke her hip and they got shot out. they're big. so watch out. her balls might wreck you.
I love Nicole's "jajajaja" because in German it also means "yes yes yes yes." And it seems to me that Nicole is always saying yes to things.
YES to biking.
YES to friendship.
YES to Tren Way.
YES to helping people.
YES to whatever theme the ride is, and with huge enthusiasm.
YES to making people smile.
YES to hugging me before she knew my name.
YES to swapping hats with a stranger at a gas station. (NORWEGIAN CHEF!)
YES to taking a nasty spill with good cheer.
Jajajajajajajajaja.
I have a shirt that says "YES" on the chest. It reminds me to say yes to things, even if I'm not sure I can do them. It reminds me that the best way to get something done is to dive in and start doing it, making up the how along the way. With optimism and good will. I never thought about it before, but it reminds me to be more like Nicole.
I'd give you the shirt, Nicole, but I think I need it more than you do.
happy ROTW, Nicole (i can't write that french style here but you know i'm saying it in my head).
nicole, you were one of the first people i met in LA before i decided to move here. i thought you were pretty awesome and if you were awesome, then the rest of LA would have to be awesome too, right? mostly, ja! i'm so happy to know you, nicole!
AWWW!!! Ecjk!!! I am soooo!!! DANG! I was going to nominate someone! FOO!! you guys are sooo awesome. I love you ALL! I am at work and can't answer respond/enough! BUT SRSLY JAJAJAJAJA!!! <3<3<3
I will be back later! *MUAH!*!
hatehills! Thanks you!!
Why "steelMonkey" (if that is the proper name for your malt liquor/OJ concoction that you drink), who turned you on to it, what kind of buzz would you compare it to, (for those who haven't experienced it), do you get a hang over from it, if so, what is it like, and how long does it to take the hang over to go away, and what do you do to cure the hang over?
What do you do fancy to eat for hang overs, in general?
How would you describe your move into Ridge Way? (answer what you feel is appropriate, or don't answer) how is it, living with your room mates? How have the party fared out so far, and would you have more, what would you do different, or not do different at the parties?
Do you have any interesting stories that you would like to tell us about the mixing of the pets at Ridgway? Has it been a benefit to you having to climb the hill to get home, or not, Please explain?
It was once NKOTB, now who is your favorite(or favorite) musical acts, (don't answer if you wrote it on one of the Music Threads, that i never read).
Do you watch TV? If so what shows do you find to be worth your while and what shows are just a mind numbing, enjoyable escape.
Do you feel I have strong sexual desires toward Skidmarcus?
If so please explain? if so, does it make you uncomfortable when I'm around your boyfriend, or when I communicate via the phone with him?
Do you drink more coffee or beverage drinks, since you started working at a coffee shop? Is there a certain personality, of a person that goes with the type of drink they order? What type of person is it, that hangs out, at a coffee shop all day?
Do you love your present bicycle? Do you have any plans for a new or different ride, maybe a Los Angelopes style bike?
I could cry right nows I'm so happy hatehills brought Nicole under the spotlight (well, as people have said, she brings the sun with her).
Nicole, you are one of my greatest inspirations these days, and probably will always be, for the joy and "yesness" you bring to everything, while all the while I know you're mixting in your head.
mexed will always be our rider, so full of smiles, respectful to everyone, and knows how to bring a smile to everyones face, congrats mexed, you are the bomb in all our lives, THANKS FOR BEING YOU.
A few, intense grillings from the dusty, weathered side.
-According to your postings, it sounds like you work at a small, restaurant, or something.
Is there something larger in the works?
Like your own diner, perhaps?
-When did you start to ride bicycles on a full-time, basis anyway?
We all say we start riding at 4, or 7 years of age, but we tend to find out later if it's something we really like.
-Is LA, or SoCal in general, your first home?
-And last, but not least, have you ever gone bowling, then had the ball fly out of your hand?
whew!!! lots of questions =) I mean...lots of answer!!! YEEP!!
@Marcus
I bet you are crying arent you??
LOL...Yessss. I was! :*) <--happy tearzz!!
@Alan
Welcome to the boys club Nicole!
Boith club!? psssh! WELCOME TO LADIES WORLD!<--- why does that just sound like a department store for plus sized womens clothing? ;) Anyhoo..women are taking ova Ridazz! watch out!
@ rbi
*snore*
@ Harry
when did you first notice each other with intent??? :)))
The first time I spent a lot of time w/ Marcus was @ SFCM. We had an awesome little crew (DVDA!) and rode all over the city together! After that I hoped I'd get to know him better. When he isn't b-a-a-a-a-ing, or chanting, Marcus is pretty quiet. I think the first "notice w/ intent" was @ cubcamp (the movie) That was my 1st cubcamp and I was welcomed w/ cubbie cuddles! By the following C.R.A.N.K. mob I was crazy about him... sometime after that Alex Thompson accused me of wanting to have Marcus's babies, which of course, I do! A whole litter of Pizza Zebra, Giraffe, Eagle, Wolf, Sharks!!!
@ DanyullSpice! aka neverclever
Who would win in a fight,
Pavement or Pearl Jam?
If it were a battle of wit in the form of clever lyrics SM would win, but if it were a battle of growling and saving the world EV would win!! IF it HAD to be a physical fight... Pearl Jam would probably win.
Pizza Eagle or Pizza Wolf? Pizza Wolf can jump really high and I think he has a spicier pizza sauce, but Pizza Eagle has sharp claws and a sqwak that can immobilize his predators. Hmmm. I <3 Pizza Wolf but I think Pizza Eagle might win.
Princess or Fireball? Fireball! duh.
Mel C or Mel B? Mel B is all fluff! Mel C is SPORTY she would win!
If you had to match the members of NKOTB with the members of the Spice Girls who goes best with who?
Donny-Scary
Ginger -Jordan
Danny-Mel
Posh--Jon
Joe-Baby
wow.... that came really easily. I think there is something formulaic about these pop quintets. hmmm.
Did you ride a bike in your time in SF?
After SFCM I realized what a fool I was for not riding when I lived up there, but it honestly never occurred to me. I was impressed enough that I could walk and muni and bart everywhere... heh.
Are you so hip you broke your hip? yes!
What does Tren Way mean to you?
Tren Way is the best. That's it and that's all!
Srsly, TWBG is rad! We're a little different than other bike "groups" Besides being amplified and from the future...here are some other fun facts about TWBG:
1. we are a GANG!
2. A lot of Tren Way were friends B4 we were all into bikes and bikes have brought us even closer.
3. We ride dirty!
4.We were voted best bike gang by Los Angeles Magazine in 2006!!
@ Marcus
No! I swear! But I was smoking crack...
@PC
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I am *so* thankful that riding will probably extend my life & I'll have time to do all the things I want to do when I "grow up" My goals change every five seconds. Right now the big one is traveling (a lot!) and somehow getting paid for it, still working on that.
Do you want to grow up? Not really, but I am excited to be really, really old someday. Once upon a time, I acted a lot like a grown up, but I knew I wasn't really one of them. I like having the benefits of being "of age" without having to give up what is important to me... and I feel bad for grown ups who don't realize they have the option of investing in Mutual FUN... It's an investment in their future... I just wish we could tell everyone, but some people don't want to hear it. :::sigh::::
Do you see yourself riding bikes a lot twenty years from now? Yes!! Do you think you'll be doing it in the same way? I hope so... I know things will change, but I hope to always have friends to ride with and to share amazing experiences that you can only have by being part of a bike community like this.
Who brought you to your first MR, or did you go on your own?
Rev. Dak introduced me to MR after I went to SantaCon and LOVED IT! He thought this would be right up my alley and he helped me find a bike, Mel C. He was sooo right! I will be thankful forever that I was introduced to MR when I was... it has totally changed my life.
Were you sold immediately, or was it an acquired taste for you?
The first non Tren Way Ride I went on was The Punk Rock Ride (Cruz w/ Us) When we got to Magnolia/Lankershim and I saw alll the people and bikes I was excited and nervous and amazed and afraid... all at once... and hooked, immediately!
@ katie
You are making me cry sooo badly! <3
you are sooo sweet! thank you thank you! ((((((what's your name??))))) ;) BTW! I said YES to film + architecture = <3 and I totally forgot..+ was in Ojai =( How was it!?
Your all stupid. Back to New York for me, that where the real Moonlight Rides started. Does anybody know if Century City has messengers? I heard a rumor about this.
Well, you pretty much answered all my questions by responding to the others.
How about instead of a Tiara, we present you with a Jaffa, Staff Weapon instead?
Kicks the shit out of a regular, jousting staff and it lights up, too.
I feel like I'm being a bad ROTW by not answering the questions very quickly... but I'm actually being a good ROTW by riding more than ever!!! I got a new job, my old job really, waitressing at a restaurant I worked at a few years ago, it's called Maxwell's Cafe (corner of walgrove and washington, by C.R.A.N.K. mob Costco!) This morning I rode there...exciting! It took me an hour and 20 min to get there from Echo Park. Sunset Blvd is really nice at 6:50am...pretty much empty! Santa Monica at 7:15ish is my worst nightmare... BUSES can S my D.... I hate them! Anyway... I do have Sexy's Q's answered... do ta dooo!
YIKES... SteelMonkey was soooo C.R.U.T.C.H mob! I was familiar w/ BrassMonkey, but it was Marcus who let me try some of his SteelMonkey for the first time. I liked it for a while even though some people compared the taste to throw up... maybe that was my comparison... but in a good way. Anyway, now I can't drink Steel Reserve at all. I think part of SteelMonkey's popularity was it's ass kicking ability and the JOOSE Boycott being well underway at the time I was drinking it most. I was also happy with the resealablity of the SM. It did give me pretty bad hangovers, but it had OJ...so I considered it "the healthy hangover" also Steel Reserve goes pretty well w/ vicoden.
Cure for SteelMonkey hangover: More SteelMonkey.
What do you do fancy to eat for hang overs, in general? Falafel!
How would you describe your move into Ridge Way?
I was looking for a place/roommate(s) & Brassknuckles told me Kyber was looking for a place so he and I started looking together... when RidgeWay came along, even though it was just the 2 of us, we jumped on it, certain we could find someone to fill the 3rd room. After a month of no one living in it, I was getting a little worried that no one wanted to live w/ some nutty bikers w/ yappy untrained little dogs. Luckily, Esther joined RidgeWay and it has been happily ever after!!
How is it, living with your room mates? I <3 it. I wasn't sure if I was the roommate type but this has been a really good experience. Now we have KathrynCupcakes and SKIDMARCUS at RidgeWay, we pay next to nothing and we have a cool bike rack and a crow on the balcony!
How have the party fared out so far, and would you have more, what would you do different, or not do different at the parties?
The last RidgeWay Party was not my favorite. I had to speak to the upset neighbor and I was totally *not* drunk, so I felt really responsible for keeping the volume down, I had to steal and hide megaphones. I'd rather not know when the neighbors are pissed. Anyway, I'd love more RidgeWay parties... but maybe more laid back... like Grand Brunches. OR I was thinking we could have a block party where we INVITE the neighbors, and make it an all day thing... w/ a bounce house and then maybe they won't hate us.
Do you have any interesting stories that you would like to tell us about the mixing of the pets at Ridgway?
The dogs used to have free reign of the house but they would piss and shit all over and it was gross. Now we're potty training them to go out back and they sleep in the kitchen. Princess sometimes humps Gir's head. She turned really mean since we moved here, I think she liked being an only child.
Has it been a benefit to you having to climb the hill to get home, or not, Please explain? It has been a benefit, I'm getting stronger little by little, but it is still not easy. I think of PC telling me eventually I wont need to weave up it, then I wont need to stand, but so far I still do both most of the time. I saw Nick Brant-Sorenson climb Douglas one day, he made it look super easy!
It was once NKOTB, now who is your favorite(or favorite) musical acts, (don't answer if you wrote it on one of the Music Threads, that i never read).
Sheesh I don't know. I went to a Dan Deacon show a couple weeks ago er.. maybe last week and that was fantastic! One of the most entertaining shows I've been to, for sure. I have been listening to X like crazy . I'm also listening to Whitney Houston, A LOT, and got caught by my neighbor belting out "How Will I Know?" along w/ the record.:/ Also my friend Dave Franklin has a good band/ music thing... it's him and an ever changing group of musicians, but mostly him, he's called Asbury (after that building by macarthur park) actually I am going to see him play now... hopefully I didn't miss it!)
Do you watch TV? If so what shows do you find to be worth your while and what shows are just a mind numbing, enjoyable escape.
I hate the mindnumbing stuff... the lowest I could go was the 1st couple episodes of american idol... but that was like when it first came out. There is no TV TV at Ridge Way....I just watch movies and Curb Your Enthusiasm on DVD. When I last had cable I loved Good Eats, This Old House (and all the different spin offs of TOH) I also liked LOST and Heroes.
Do you feel I have strong sexual desires toward Skidmarcus? Yes.
If so please explain? if so, does it make you uncomfortable when I'm around your boyfriend, or when I communicate via the phone with him? Haha, No Sexy. It doesn't make me uncomfortable, I kinda think it's cute... you get all giddy around him but then you try and play it cool and try to push his buttons to get a reaction. Jane and I both are on to you!!
Do you drink more coffee or beverage drinks, since you started working at a coffee shop? YES.
Is there a certain personality, of a person that goes with the type of drink they order? you mean like hippy type people ordering americanos? hehe j/k... yeah... I mean there are the people who order their elaborate, quadruple decaf sugar free vanilla soy capuccinos, but I don't really care it's all the same to me whatever they order I just make it. And I try to make something that looks like a heart or a leaf in the foam. Most of my customers are L.A. Times people, who are finally warming up to me. Also, I've been getting a lot of people who want to talk to me about riding because they see my bike parked out front whenever I work... so I have a little e-mail list for my customer who I tell about rides and they seem interested, so far 1 customer has gone on a MR ride I told him about (The Glo Ride!) It was cool to see he went and had a great time!!
What type of person is it, that hangs out, at a coffee shop all day? People like me... who can't get things done at home bc they get too distracted. People waiting for traffic to die down, people who want to act like they are part of the cast of "Friends"... I don't know. :P
Do you love your present bicycle? Do you have any plans for a new or different ride, maybe a Los Angelopes style bike? I LOVE LOVELOVE my bike. I'm sentimental about all the good things that have happened while riding or being within 15 ft of my bike. But also I think it's one of the prettiest designs... and FRENCH and I think it was made the same year as me. I cut the handle bars and made it a ghetto single speed w/ the help of people at bike kitchen and bike oven and I am pretty sure as long as I don't crash it too bad, I'll have this bike forever. I may get a lighter road bike w/ gears again (someday) for longer hilly rides. I have a mini-tandem Los Angelope on the way! And maybe someday I will be brave enough to ride a (not tooooo tall) tall bike!
How does it feel to be ROTW? Like Marcus said... I do blush when people mention it to me, but I AM really happy about it! I told my mom about ROTW today. It's going to my head, when I have to deal w/ rude people or asshole drivers, I think "PShhh... do they KNOW who they are talking to?!?! I'M ROTW! jaa jaa.
