Mobb Deep is what I bumped back in the day.
K.R.U.N.K. B.L.O.B. is the poor, inexcusable, immitation I try to pull up here.
also - I hate to say it but I'm broker than broke at the moment until Fri, so if anyone has laminate donations, or a way to print for free, I'd be thrilled :)
I'm just around the corner, so if Thursday Lamination Situation happens, yo d or bk, lemme know and I'll come eat your food...er, make myself useful. ;)
I had some designs in mind and did a couple tests yesterday. Either I’ll wait till next time (I’m broke right now too) or we can make a bunch of different ones? all one of a kind?

Latest info from DOO DAH central:
Your group is going to be prominently positioned in
the parade on Sunday!! Here is something you need to
tell everyone, as we don't know how many bikes yet but
are being prepared!
Please ask (wherever you
communicate with the folks), the bikers to enter the
parade staging area from FAIR OAKS avenue onto HOLLY
st. And just pull up to Holly and Raymond and wait.
You will have a whole block at the front and this is
how we will maneuver all the bikes from the
intersection of RAYMOND. You will basically be
perpendicular to the start location. Still at the head
of the parade.

@IdSculpt - thanks for the printup offer! prob is that I'm making the backgrounds by hand and then printing images on top of that... so I think probably I'll just make a trip to my Dad's house in the afternoon and print away...

if you are, bring a couple bucks to chip in, as the B(ike)BQ will be there to feed the hungry mobs... however as I am broke I cannot afford to feed y'all on my own dime.
I've secured a Daedalus for tommorrow afternoon.
Should I plot a course for the said meeting spot, or is anyone planning on riding from the Bikerowave?
Since my ass begins working fulltime next week, I figure I'll check this one out before I'm banished to the Underworld.
Eric, Pico (hills and HOLES like a mofo) sucks, if we have a decent group SM blvd is the best route, damn i never thought I'd say that... but to the sp it's prolly the fastest route, well if one values their spokes....
Anyone rolling out to this from the UCI world cup? Or from Long Beach? I want to go, but I am in Carson, and have a loner bike waiting in Santa Monica. Holla is ya can help a honkey out.
Hey, I'm still going to be starting off from the Bikerowave if anyone else is starting from there.
Those of y'all that got my number call me plz, if anything changes that would dis-avow that.

I'm meeting Kyle and Jahnnatha (sp?) at my garage near the corner of Sierra Bonita and Santa Monica Blvd at 8pm. We'll probably roll at around 830. We'll be between Sierra Bonita and Gardner in the alley that is closest to SM Blvd on the south side. Address is actually 1048 Sierra Bonita - the garages behind the building.

ok so i napped. funderstorm was DAMAZING.
stevestevesteve is ok-ish. and maybe without one of his steves.
all is well-ish after a westside-ish party ride.
Oh my dear lord. So much fun, so much pain, oh how I love the C.R.A.N.K. Sorry to have missed Funderstorm again, but I was tired in a way beyond the realm of reason, and couldn't handle another stop and go without passing out. Riding a bike for 60 miles and then rollerblading that far east and back, was not a sane move on my part, but so much FUN! The music the crowds, the dancing. I love skating in that kind of atmosphere. Life is good. Thank you C.R.A.N.K. MOB!!!
WOOOOHHOOOOOO
Had nightmares about knee surgery last night. After the MR palisades crunk crime then 15 more for Crank Mob.
TOOO much fun, too much Captain.
I tried to be a mormon and looked like a Jew (once a jew always a Jew)
at least I didn't miss my flight.
Anyone know the chick Christine (works at starbucks in El Segundo?)
See ya next time

maybe its an urban thing that i dont understand, living up in the mountains and all, but whats with all the tagging? crank mob in stickers on the lightpole at bed bath and beyond is one thing, but spray painting TWBG and other stupid shit at best buy? come on. that time is better spent drinking.
CRANK in your ass. Centrum, SILVER To past. Sliver liver, that's what I've got, screaming hangover less fireworks. PAiNt moB.
I AM INFECTED
bbq veggie dog run down. Hairy lime ly fries. Endless liquor lines. Was it worth it, worth the infection? Don't know. Don't think about it, just relax, pee off the building. Pee crank gutter mob. FUNDER strum warning, inflatable instruments, and not the ones you fuck when you're lonely. We don't fuck, we lay together, cRANKed.
crank mob bake sale pale los angels popes crimanimality
I agree with Ruined By Idiots (you got home safe I am assuming... never seen you like that when we were outside 1830). The graffiti was not awesome. Everyone needs to have a power slamming good time but we don't need to make everyone think we are a bunch of amatuers. This is a professional Mob we are running, not some two-time sloppy racket. By tagging up places we only leave mediocre art at best that leaves a serious mess for someone to clean up/pay for. We don't need upper law enforcement getting on our backs or hunting us down.
Let's tighten it up. If you want to tag, let's bring primed canvas on the next CM and we can freak its face all night. At the end of the night we will have something we can hang up on future rides at our stops. Art that comes with us and that will inspire us to be the proffessional funsters that we have aspired to.
On another note: WTF!!!! Thanks everyone who funderfreaked themselves and everyone else. Best Funderstorm set ever!!! You made it happen. Thanks to Nicole for hauling the Fundergear around and to all 2,000 of Funderstorms members.
May the Funder be with you forever. Never give up.

It would be SO easy for any law to track us down and charge us up. BAD MOVE.
That was one of the most, kickass, shindigs I've been on in the last, few months.
Drinking, plowing, diving, wheelies, skipping, hopping, paddy-cake, Kitten-huffing-nest way to mow down the asphalt on two-wheels.
I'll be posting some videos after a little while.
Cut, split, attach, edit, all those chores that come with finalizing my visual, ride reports.
Back to the desert and the cold wind for now.
Marcus - no thanks to you for the thoughtless commentary on the tagging. You kicked ass on the ride and typically are thoughtful about this sorts of things so this kind of unequivocal statement from you is substandard.
What's with the knee jerk condemnation of the tagging. Marcus, Fader - you guys were both there, I know Marcus knows the taggers PERSONALLY, so if you were so down on it how come you didn't talk to them at the time. Pardon me if you did, but if you didn't then your boisterous objections after the fact are duplicitous at best.
You know what - it's fine if you don't like the tagging. But what is pretty lame is that it's condemned with little explanation, far from adequate. How can it be obvious that raising hell in 7-11 parking lots, shooting off fireworks at High Schools, playing concerts in roof top air conditioning units, riding you bikes TRASHED, and setting off road flares in enclosed spaces is somehow OK, but tagging is just awful awful awful. Yes, many of the above "ok" activities leave little discernible trace, but these same activities are more disruptive by far at the time of their doing. They're also a bazillion times more dangerous.
I'd like to hear a thoughtful exposition on why tagging is bad. This website is built on the software that Roadblock wrote for 50mm - a graffiti website. Let's hear what Roadblock thinks.
Fader FREAK - good show. I thought what you said about the graffiti was the most thoughtful, but you can still do better. I like your suggestion of bringing some temporary canvas . . . that's creative. Would it make a difference if the graffiti were better . . . since you noted it's quality as mediocre.
"How can it be obvious that raising hell in 7-11 parking lots, shooting off fireworks at High Schools, playing concerts in roof top air conditioning units, riding you bikes TRASHED, and setting off road flares in enclosed spaces is somehow OK, but tagging is just awful awful awful."
Just to point out, none of the above call for someone to repair or clean up anything, especially since we are supposed to be leaving areas "without a trace".
Tagging the entire property that we are using as a free party site and destroying the machinery is like double trouble raping bubble. It puts us in a predicament where we will be seen as troublemakers and the police will not be supportive.
You got the card of an officer willing to help us. Why would you defend the things that would make them change their minds about our lovely C.R.A.N.K. MOB? I don't understand how you can support these actions, Alex. Funderstorm was busy performing while the tagging and air conditioner breaking (not the writing in the grill) was going on so they couldn't stop them and I approached those damaging the property telling them they shouldn't do it. So, steps were taken and opinions voiced. C.R.A.N.K. MOB doesn't encourage it.
If my opinion differs than yours, then oh well. But If i am factually wrong, please tell me.
I never wrote that I support the tagging, but for the record I don't have a problem with it. The best buy roof top is probably one of the most hideous examples of thoughtless concrete crap which exemplifies box store construction facilitating the kind of shitty corporate crap that makes so much stuff unfun. I cry no tears for the devirginization of thoughtlessly blank walls on anti union rooftops.
Do you think that doing dangerous things that put you in harms way do not have negative consequences for others? Society has put a lot of time an resources into making you who you are, in collaboration with you of course. When you guys act like maniacs you risk that. When some paramedic has drive at high speeds to rush you to the hospital and some doctor spends a few hours sewing up your abdomen rather than researching new medical techniques or operating on cancer patients that has real consequences for other people.
Risky behavior has it's negative consequences for others as well. Just because it comes in rare but shockingly high doses doesn't mean it doesn't eventually burden others.
If Marcus and Fader felt so strongly about it they could have stopped their set for 30 fucking seconds and said something. They didn't. It smacks of cub-pocrisy, since it doesn't seem to be a big deal when the cubs are raising hell.
I don't think "will someone be upset about cleaning it up tomorrow" is really a well thought out criteria for deciding what's ok and what's not. Are you sure that Best Buy will even care to do anything? Do you really expect that the corporate bureaucracy will grind into action to effect an inefficient solution to cleaning it up. If you were working at Best Buy and got to go up on the roof and work in the sun for $9 an hour would you be unhappy? What about the sidewalk chalk? Is that ok? Some people really care that their parking lot is free of chalk, but Richie you freely chalked up their parking lot.
You guys are being to black and white about this, and too willing to rush to judgment without examining your own actions honestly.
For the record, I don't want anyone to get hurt, but beyond that I support everything that when on at CRANK Mob last night.
I think your points aren't really facing the problem of leaving a mess and wrecking others property.
Raising hell? I've never had a problem with this, but since when have the cubs ever destroyed property?
Sidewalk chalk washes away.
Risky behavior (as far as health goes) is fine, where is the disagreement here?
Fader and marcus were playing, they did not see what was going on til after...
It doesn't matter whether you think bestbuy will care or not. If they do, and get the things repaired then it only raises the cost of maintenance which in turn raises product prices. I'm not saying this is the reason not to do it. It's NOT. There should be a respect level when using someones space to party. And destroying it crosses lines.
As you say "Sidewalk chalk washes away", and so I infer that you do not think it is significant defacing of someone's property. I agree . . .
but Richie that is OUR opinion about THEIR property. The workers at 7-11 near my house wash off the entire parking lot everyday, even though it's usually pretty spotless. Do you think they would care about you chalking up your sidewalk? I bet they would. If you truly are looking to respect THEIR property then you should at least try to look at it from THEIR point of view. You can't take YOUR point of view and simply impose it on everyone else, or else you've basically decided that your worldview is right, and everyone else's is wrong and unworthy of consideration.
As far as physical risk is concerned I will make it plain for you. When one rides their 8 foot tall bike in a crowd, or rides their motorcycle 1 million miles per hour, _ and _ WrecKs _ this imposes serious costs and inconvenience to other people, so it is actually a serious and nasty inconvenience to others. When a cub puts his head down in a sprint and rams into the back of a parked car you risk busting your head open and filling an expensive bed at Cedar Sinai, which uses substantially more resources than a simple graffiti cleanup.
When certain high speed night rides regularly run reds they risk eventually hospitalizing someone, and that has serious consequences for others.
I just don't think that tagging is the worst thing that's been done on recent rides by any means . . . and I think there are many things that were done on CRANK Mob that were pretty unsafe . . . but no one seems to be harping on the unsafe peeps.
I mean for fuck's sake - how many people on here are or were graffiti artists?
ANYWAY - FUCK THIS - I LOVE CRANK MOB - AND THIS IS TOTALLY NOT CRANK MOB BECAUSE THIS IS A DOWNER
For the record, I personally love and support graffiti art.
C.MOB is about expressing yourself through art, bikes, fun, dancing, music, costumes, yelling, jump rope, silly string madness, whatever floats your boat. It's a big bike/art/dance/fun party on wheels! -BUT- we want to keep it going! It's written in the RULES OF C.R.A.N.K. MOB...
LEAVE EVERY PLACE WITHOUT A TRACE!!!
This is written for two reasons: 1) to respect mother nature and the environment we live in. 2) to ensure that we can continue coming back to the places we party at. Of course, rule number five states that there are no rules which negates rule number three but rule number three came first thus making it more important... so it's all up to how YOU choose to interpret these rules.
I am all for defacing big corporate property and I don't think that anyone will be hurting from this event on the Best Buy side. If anything, the graffiti artist is creating a job for some painting company to come and paint over it. HOWEVER - you gotta look at it this way: big corporations like Best Buy only care about one thing - money. It's going to cost them money to have someone come and paint over that wall. So in the interest of saving them that money in the future, Best Buy will investigate ways to ensure that it doesn't happen again. i.e. night-shift security, gates, locks, fences, barbed wire. The point is they will be taking measures to make sure that WE, a mob of fun-lovin' bicyclists and party animals DON'T RETURN. Even if they catch the MOB on 24-hr surveillance cameras, the footage wouldn't never make it past middle management until they gotta drop a pretty penny on cleaning up after us.
I know this goes against my personal fuck-shit-up and stand-up-against-corporate-control attitude but I think it's important to make sure that EVERYONE (all my friends and fellow mobbers, I love you all and I miss you!) can continue to have a good time. Both Marcus and B-rad are or were graffiti artists so I know it's a tough call for them too. I wouldn't be so swift to assume where Roadblock stands on this matter. This is my objective opinion but objective does not mean definitive. Like I said, the rules to the right are to be interpretted how YOU choose. EXPRESS YOUR INDIVIDUALITY VIA MOB MENTALITY!
love
.K139
P.S. We are totally bringing canvases on the next C.MOB. I'm mad at myself for not thinking of that sooner! Yay B-Rad!
I love love love that people are that excited for and on a ride that they wanna spray up the name of it. but I'd love to see some canvas's or wood or paper that we can all bust out on. I will try to remember to bring the body paint crayons I brought on CMob II.
the reason that I personally am not into the tagging that happened last night is because it puts all of us at risk.
you wanna tag your tag - go right the fuck ahead.
you wanna tag words that anyone can type into a search engine and come up straight with people (not to mention a specific ride highly publicized on this site) thatt are associated with it - that's all our problems.
I don't condone breaking and fucking shit up on a ride for the same reason that I feel "leave no trace" is in order. (besides the general reasons of just being curtious and somewhat responsible funloving human beings). If we don't fuck shit up - then they don't know we were there and we can go back and have MORE FUN!
When the cops rolled up as we were leaving the first stop, I looked back and saw beer cans littering the grass. What I think that says to the cops is "oh - this is a group of people tthat are drinking and riding and right the fuck here is the PROOF that they left behind for us to find." Whatt that smacks of also is a beligerance that we don't give a fuck about anything or anyone. Personally - I don't wanna be associated with that. And even if tthey don't stop us on this ride, now they know for next time, ANYTIME - that they see a group of us riding.
I'm all for graffiti. I love it. I document it constantly. It's one of the highlights of my life. Literally. Look at my fucking flickr page. But I am not for ruining a perfectly FUN tthing by fucking shit up and making people come after us - be it corporate, or government (ie: cops) and by "coming after us" I mean following us around and harrassing us on rides, and or following UP ON US via this website which is directly where punching in CRANK MOB or FUNDERSTORM into a search engine would lead to.
anyways that's my 4:30 rant on this subject.

oh yeah - also - our Copper Friend called at around 4:30 Sat ngiht, wanting to know if the ride was still happening and where to meet us if itt was. So I told him we were on our way home :(
He said to call him for other rides! and I told him to look us up and bring his bike and come out! Yay!
also - I mentioned that I was going to some velodrome racing on Sun and he was like "oh yeah? at the ADT center? are you guys riding out there?" Dude knows whats up for reals!!!!!!
So, A.T., can we assume that the taggers at CRANK Mob were not merely drunkenly showing off, but were in fact striking a blow against Best Buy's labor policies? Rad! It's like May 1968 all over again!
alex t, calm down, play with your cats for while, and take deep breaths. i enjoy your comedic routine of playing devil's advocate and voice of westside reason, i really do. but dont play around like anything i do needs your approval. fuck that.
i only wanted express that if we dont want people coming after us and shutting down this ride, dont write the name of ride in spraypaint in clear-day's view. compared to breaking equipment, etc, there is a major difference: they arent going to send detectives and track down your shoe size and shut down your ride because of it.
i was a graffiti writer before many of you biked. i always knew you cant justify the reasons for wrecking other peoples shit with any solidity, other its fucking fun. and it is, and i believe that "FUN" is a valid reason. Go ahead and fuck things up. all i'm saying is, you might as well write "www.midnightridazz.com" to make the police hunt even easier.
its even funnier that you thought i should have let alone could have known or stopped graffiti during my show. i couldnt even get out of the caution-tape-christmas-light-caccoon when we finished our set. and i couldnt see over the top of all the eff you enn anyway.
cmon man. whats really wrong? come to the box for a massage, anytime after 7p, any day this week.
richie:
YOU"RE A HYPOCRITE and i'm calling you on it! during a cubcamp/scout ride to hollywood park you tagged a light pole in the parking lot. when i told you that i thought that was fucked up, you laughed and brushed me off and continued to spray paint the pole.
I also feel that we should show more respect for the areas that we go to in order to avoid furthering the "us vs. them" dichotomy. I don't think we need to give people reasons to hate us, we want them to love us!
On that note I was totally funderstoaked and mobbed out, music was awesome, spokecards rocked, route rocked, people, party roping etc. An awesome success that I expect to rock even harder next month.

Well I totally missed this whole graffiti thing that everyone keeps talking about so I'm just not going to address it. Instead, I'd just like to thank everyone for allowing me the opportunity to share in the most fun I've had in almost a decade of living in LA. As fireworks exploded, bikebecue's roasted hot dogs, scotch was hopped, and ropes were jumped, I heard the voice of my late grandfather in my head. He said, "These are the best years of your life..." and I believed him for the first time. Thank you everyone for making my inaugural voyage with the midnight ridazz the most profoundly gleeful experience possible.
I'm trying to grasp which is smoother move on your escapades over the weekend. Is it the distruction of property or the posting of the deed? Yeah there's more than just this pic posted too! NICE!!!
Regarding the googling of "CRANK MOB" or "FUNDERSTORM", looks like you're pretty safe on the Funderstorm, but the crank mob is a direct hit! And you got a cop that is going to start riding with you guys?!?!?!? IMHO I would take care of a few rough edges if I were you. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for raising hell, but you seem to have lost the mantra of "leave no trace".
All it takes is a few rotten ridazz to get your shit shut down. Hope these issues aren't contagious!
oh stevo4. you always bring the out the celebratory nature of situations at any opportunity. come to the box for a massage, anytime after 7p, any day this week.
wow Undercover Bob. your profound comment proves you are an example that life is worth living, especially here, especially now. come to the box for a massage, anytime after 7p, any day this week.
oh User1. your wisdom and exploratory and utilitarian instincts always leaves your friends at a better position than they would be without you. come to the box for a massage, anytime after 7p, any day this week.
JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU GUYZ FOR INFECTING ME, SOME PEOPLE KEPT TELLING ME THAT I WAS INFECTED, AND I WAS THINKING "WHAT THE FUCK?" WHEN I WOKE UP THE NEXT AFTERNOON, I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR, AND I SAW THE "INFECTION", (I'M STILL LAUGHING FROM IT NOW) THANKS FOR THE INFECTION, YOU WHITE BOYZ ARE THE BOMB, AND I GOT NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR CRANK-MOB! SEEMS I NEED TO GET MORE "CRAZY" TO REALLY ENJOY MY SELF, LOL, AGAIN THANKS.
C.R.A.N.K. MOB is without a doubt THE BEST ride in L.A. I said it. Though, I often say "oh.. it's hard to choose... I love ALL the rides" I do. But ... I love C.R.A.N.K. MOB more. Crazy Nap Time Killazz has the recipe for F-U-N. That's it and that's all... well no, not really all... I LOVE C.R.A.N.K Mob, so I INSIST that people don't make it difficult to have this kind of fun all the time! If you have issues w/ Best Buy and the corporate take over of the planet, GREAT. Go have at 'em. But don't do it under the guise of C.R.A.N.K MOB. Not everyone who makes the rides possible is behind what happened on Sat. I'm all for "sticking it to the man" but there are better times and places... and if it's ALWAYS your agenda to stick it to the man, that's fucking awesome, you should have WAY better ideas then just tagging stuff up and destroying an AC unit. None of the tagging even said anything about what you didn't like about Best Buy. And breaking an AC unit in the winter is just silly.
What Kieron wrote, what Ashira wrote, and what Marcus wrote this time, and on second read what Fader wrote is, IMO, much better. I feel like these are strong arguments not that tagging is bad, but that tagging in this particular context in this way creates issues for CRANK Mob, and therefore we should seek some workaround. I just think the taggers are good peeps and they deserve the benefit of the doubt, and nuanced debate. I've made enough of a stink, so I'll stop tagging up this thread with my boring stupid.
PC - you know I'm not suggesting that the tagging was meant as a blow for the proletariat, any more than CRANK Mob is asserting our rights to the road = obviously not. I just don't have any particular sympathy for the "victim".
Y'all - CRANK Mob has sent three people to the emergency room, and they were all very drunk when it happened. That, I feel, is pretty worrisome.
So you think the guy bashing the fan above is pre virus contamination or post virus contamination? Is this just a bad reaction or something?
@fluffa
I don't see how running a red light could possibility equate to smashing someone's property. I'm not sure I've done anything that equates to this that I've done. And yeah I have broken laws over the weekend too.
Face it man, this not exactly the best pic you want to keep in your scrap book. It wouldn't be a bad idea to see if RB can fix it.
Big Gay Al:
it's how you choose to look at it:
running a red light is much worse to me because it involves greater risk for injury and personal property.
I gotta agree with User1 on this one. I feel that certain photo's on this site implicate people in a manner that they may not be down with, and while I'm seriously not pro cencorship, can we PLEASE EDIT THE PHOTO"S WE POST. Remember this is a PUBLIC site and anyone can see EVERYTHING.
It wasn't about sticking it to the man in any sense. It's just that when some kids are having a snowball fight, and one accidentally clobbers the drug dealer on the nearby corner, no one feels too bad for the drug dealer if there were a few rocks in said snowball.
I didn't do any of the damage, or tag . . . but I am about sticking to the man, ALL THE TIME. You know I got better ideas than that.
Alex - maybe noone will feel bad for the 'drug dealer' but if I were him and got hit with snowballs - I sure as hell would go after those lil punk snowballers. especially if I could care less about snow or ballers and only cared about my business making money.
No one will ever vote for a candidate that hates massages.
Vote Skidmarcus for President this Friday at the Republican National Convention, (aka Venice Critical Mass) and I promise to not only boost LA's massage-economy on weekdays after 7pm, but also put an end to, once and for all, the Anti-massagony of my humble opponent.
im still losing control from those phat beatz
i wish crank mob was every day and jobs didn't exist
oh and that the world was a post-apocalyptic bicycle-only wasteland
radioactive people flesh fused to bikes FTW
I know it wasn't about sticking it to the man at the time... it was the drug dealer snowball thing... ? =p But after the fact to say it's all about "F Best Buy" is weak. That's all. FUCK MESSAGES!!
RRiding - are you like a successful drug dealer, or just average? It's not worth your time yo, plus they're just kids. Everyone knows kids are just kids, even drug dealers . . . it's like the universal truth of life.
Fluffa -
running a red light is much worse to me because it involves greater risk for injury and personal property.
Me -
Tough to injure yourself or cause personal property damage if you're the only one at the intersection. For the record, I was referring just this sceniro and not running a light at a busy intersection.
So yeah I consider smashing a AC unit far worst than running a red light.
Recap~ Everyone loves C.R.A.N.K. Mob, almost everyone loves graffiti, most people would like to keep C.R.A.N.K. Mob around for a while and don’t want the attention that graffiti-ing “C.R.A.N.K. Mob†will bring, a few people know we will always find ways to have fun and don’t concern themselves with the longevity of specific rides.
Conclusion~ We are all pretty nice people. If someone has an issue with something happening on the ride I’m sure everyone will be willing to skip it next time. The arguing was simply a result of trying to defend someone that was attempting to add something creative to the ride. Next time let’s think about other people’s feelings while making requests for changes and let people defend themselves (cause they probably don’t really care).
C.R.A.N.K. Lov
What's your conclusion on condoning the destruction of property in the name of this ride and in the name of MR? You find it acceptable to do on the rides? What about in general?
well i've been talking with one of the writers who was bombing during the ride. he understands the reasons why it might not be such a good idea. now we're planning some awesome shit for next month. stay tuned.
i'm with User1 on this. Lay off the grafitti and destruction of property. Don't fuck up our rides and the fun vibe by being a destructive asshole. If you need to do that, do it on your own time. And one other thing...pick up your fucking trash when you leave the stops. It's really not hard. Find a trash can or put it in your bag to dispose of later. If you don't have a bag, ask around. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will gladly hold your stuff in their bag until the next stop. If you want these fun times to continue, we need to be respectful of our community.
brassknuckle,
I appreciate your requests. I see things differently, for example- sending our trash to someone else’s home, via the trash man, is disrespectful and hides the problem of processed foods. I am completely willing to collect cans for recycling. I don’t see why you couldn’t listen to my request to ask nicer.
Alec, i appreciate what you are saying. I think the reason people have the trash in the first place is a whole different discussion but i get what you're saying. The fact of the matter is, people on our rides have trash, and they need to dispose of it properly rather than leave it in the gutter or the parking lots of the places we stop.
As for recycleables, I'm with you on that. A couple of us have actually talked about pulling a trailer so that we could collect all the recycleables to either take in ourselves or give to the homeless people we pass that are collecting recycleables.
Wait, so let me get this clear, the issue with the "tagging" (the throwup by 7-11 would be considered in this I am assuming.) is the ability for it to be traced back to the ride, and lead us to getting our ride jacked. So in other words they shouldn't be writing Crank Mob, or Midnight Ridazz, or TWBC?
Trying to get this cleared so who ever writes here knows the rules for next ride.
Wow it sounds like you guys had a terrible time on the ride. I was working so I'm sorry I couldn't be there to help you guys with the hooligan element that seems to have invaded our fine community. Next time though I'll be there to enforce all of the new Rules for Crankmob, STAY BEHIND THE JACKETS!!
Broken bottom bracket, holla! Thanks to everyone who attempted to help and cried on the inside with me. I didn't get either of your names (dude w/ Randy and dude who let me know my ride was there)? Leaving before the ride starts is NOT a good look.
@ onethirtynine: I've wanted to do this for a while, use a giant canvas and a couple trays to dip our tires in the paint, then roll across the canvas.............or just dump a gallon of paint in a puddle on the canvas and let us ride back and fourth...(bonus: you get a sweet new paint rooster-tail on your shirt and butt crack)
The guys that helped us organize the Las Vegas ride were at CRANK MOB and they said, "the ride is awesome, but I can't get over how much energy everyone on this ride has!!"
I was daydreaming about this summer when all the rides have been infected by C.R.A.N.K. Mob. By then there will be multiple rides every weekday and multiple multiple multiple rides 24 hours a day on the weekends, all CRANKed out. It will be warm so every ride will be an underwear ride. There will be bike gangs rolling through every neighborhood shouting. Every 7-11 parking lot will be a party. The police force will be ripped in half by internal conflict when the order is given to shut us down and half the force does the rides. Other non-biking groups will become infected and parties will break out in malls, parks and streets throughout LA. Every night will look like Halloween.
Let's hope this infection will be able to spread beyond the currently, impenetrable curtain known as the "Cajon Pass".
I'm already working on a drug-resistant strain as we speak.
WHO IS RB? AND DOES HE KNOW THAT FUNDERSTORMS FIRST EP WILL BRING THE SAME BURST OF FUNDERPOWER, I WANNA SEE A SHOW OF HANDS. A TRUE SHOW TO EQUIP OURSELVES WITH THE ACTUALIZATION THROUGH MODERN DAY EQUIPMENT AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUES?????? OR DOES SHE REALIZE THAT WHEN WE GET TO OUR FIRST ALBUM THAT BEAUTIFUL FLOURESCENT SPRAY WILL JET OUT OF FIRE HYDRANTS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COVER EVERYTHING IN A WET SHEEN OF FUN?
FUN WAS BORN A LONG TIME AGO, FROM ITS DORMANT BUT ALIVE EMBERS COMES THE NATURAL AND LOGICAL PROGRESSION OF THE FURY OF FUN. AND THE FURY IS OH SO AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE WHEN THE INFECTED ARE NEAR. CRANK MOB, THE INFECTION HAS ENTERED MY M-BOX, UNLIKE OTHER NON-FUN COMPU-VIRUSES, FUNUSES BELIEVE IT OR NOT ACTUALLY DO MOST OF THE WORK FOR YOU!!!!!!
(Only one funus per customer. Non-limited to any age or personality)
In the old days the bike scene was stable. There was LACM, and it was somewhat weaksauce by today's standards, but it was bitchin revelation for it's participants. Later Midnight Ridazz jumped into the fray, meteorically growing to 300 riders in one year. Still, MR growth was slow by today's standards. Soon there was LACM, Midnight Ridazz, and Westside Ridazz. A year later it was LACM, Midnight Ridazz, Westside Ridazz, and Santa Monica Critical Mass.
That's just a few rides added a year. You could go to all of them easily, and there were only a few new ones a year. You could keep up with it.
That's CHANGED. Some weekends there are TWENTY rides listed on MR. Some are huge and others are tiny. It's an ecosystem, a confusing predatory super jungle . . .
and CRANK MOB is king of the jungle. CRANK MOB is choose your own adventure, bring your own fun, potluck style crazy awesome. That describes CRANK Mob in a breath, and it sounds awfully similar to the ethic of Critical Mass.
CRANK Mob <--> CM <--> Critical MAss. CRANK MOB is the ambitious daughter of Critical & Mass. Critical always wanted to travel to Paris, and Mass always wished he'd gone to college. For CRANK Mob going to Paris, going to college, and achieving Burning Man heights of awesome artistic open source inclusive joy is automatic. Her parents, her background, her participants, her CONTEXT _ _ they guarantee it.
Someone like CRANK Mob typically doesn't recognize how they've fulfilled and surpassed the dreams of their parents, how monumentally different their life has been. They're probably not satisfied with what they have. They probably have dreams their parents don't even get because those dreams are conceptually so far beyond anything their parents could have.
That's how CRANK Mob should be. Are we really satisfied with CRANK Mob being the ride of the moment, the craziest ride in town, the ride you bring newness too? BOOOOORINNNG
Not me. I want to pervert her. Her parents had the sexual revolution, she should have the trisexual revolution
she'll TRY ANYTHING.
We're the ones with the whips, chains, plugs, and creativity to take her there.
What's next? I don't know, but it must be epic, it must be unheard of, and for our children it must be mundane and ubiquitous
"potluck-style crazy awesome"...wow, that captures the spirit, something i fail to do when telling others about it...
...thanks for this, i assume you wrote it Alex. even this writing contributes to upping the next one...
UP THAT SHIT!!!
CRANK MOB IS automatic, thats really poetic...
it never fails to impress, it never excludes or displeases or trails off or dwindles out at the end.
what other ride can take thousands of dollars of damages in stride? none.
what other ride gives ME butterflies when i think about it? none.
what other toppings go on a pepperoni-olive-pizza-eagle? none.
"a confusing predatory super jungle" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's right, and in that super jungle there's super mushrooms, big enough for giant pizzas; and once those mushrooms throttle your brain situation and tantelize your turnips, when you can't tell the difference between life and death, when you feel like you might barf, like you might fly, like you might live, like you're the third ingredient in a sushi roll featuring the devil and the almighty...you pause and then yell MOB!!
1) to the girl i'm allegedly groping in the recent crank mob pic:
I was merely trying to save you from the hungry caution tape that was trying to eat you during the dance off
ride on
2) thanks to all who gave so much: those who planned, the bike restoration tips for my dads old panasonic, the FANCY spoke cards, the sharing of spirits and for getting my missing helmet back to me
OK, now I'm having fantasies about corking all 4 directions of a major LA intersection and breaking into a spontaneous Thriller demo by the whole C.R.A.N.K. Mob crew.
A zombie ride seems like a generally good idea, anyway, though I can't imagine that it hasn't already happened a time or two.
hell yeah! Ms. Stephanie and I were just talking about how terrible(good way) it would be if we all knew how to square dance for situations just like AT is talkin bout
What's the story in February? No ride posted in the calendar and major conflict with the Ride to Nowhere on the traditional 1st saturday after the 3rd friday (2/16/08).
I don't know, but I'm glad you sent this thread back to the top because I meant but forgot to write here that I HAVE AN LP THAT WILL TEACH YOU EIGHT DIFFERENT KINDS OF THE HUSTLE.
Such as the Hustle Cha. The Rope Hustle. The Foxy Trot. And the Bump.
I'm celebratin' my birthday at the Salton Sea. Its on FRIDAY. Unfortunately, 35 feels less like a reason to celebrate than previous years. commiserate, maybe.

"Memorial Ride For LAPD Officer Randy Simmons"
02.16.08
To All,
I am the Red headed LAPD Police Offcier that met you all at the CRANK M.O.B. ride, and it was indeed my pleasure! I hope your ride the other night went well, I chatted with a couple of you at the corner of Westwood and Santa Monica BLVD just before you headed east for the ride.
In light of recent, very sad circumstances, we are having a "Memorial Ride For Randy" and fundraiser for his family. We are asking that all the local clubs, Teams and recreational riders, hold off on thier Saturday rides on this Saturday ( Feb 16th) and join us for this Memorial ride. Even if you can only give your time for the ride that will be a very welcome statement for Randy and Jim's families and the people who's lives they've touched. The ride will start at the LAPD Police Academy 1880 N. Academy Dr. in Elysian Park (across from Dodger Stadium) at 0800 hours and travel to West Valley Station and then on to the location where Randy lost his life to hostile gunfire, where we will do a memorial ceremony and laying of a wreath by the members of the "Police Unity Tour, So. Calif. Chapter". We will then ride back to the academy, round trip will be about 50 miles. There will be plenty of parking up at the Academy. It will be a slow pace so we can keep everyone together and we are hoping to enlist LAPD motors for rolling support.
I am encouraging everyone who rides a bike to join us in remembering Randy, an incredible Police Officer, father and human being.
We are hoping or all former, present and future Police Unity Tour members to be there, as well as the different cycling communities of the Los Angeles area. Please remember that this is a ride to not only morn the tragic loss, but to also celebrate the great and unselfish life that Randy lead! Randy truly gave back to his community in far more ways than can be listed. He gave more of his own time(weekly) in helping people down on thier luck than most spend at a full time job. Ultimately Randy gave his life and that's why we will ride on saturday.
Jim Veenstra has a long road to recovery after being shot in the jaw during the incident. He is a true Warrior and there is NO doubt that he will recover fully! Please keep Randy & Jim's families in your prayers and ride safe. If you would like to read more then please check out www.lapdcyclingteam.com .
Take care and be safe out there. Keep the rubber side down!

okay so there have been a lot of rumors going around about what is going to be happening this weekend on C.R.A.N.K. MOB. i thought i should just clear some of them up.

My guess is that onethirtynine also has the ability to remote view.
Whilst asleep, he simply stops his heart and projects his soul back onto the LA streets.
Damn, I have to miss the ride where some Keith Sweat has the potential of being played.
I used to get down to that shit back in 8th grade, then he joined up with that group, LSG.
Fine then, next month, I'm bringing my Sirius Stiletto.
It'll be a ride chock full of Raw-Dog comedy.
And as per the other thread, feel free to make a cardboard effigy of myself and use it as a pinata.
After the Mob from last month, I now have permanent withdrawal.
@speedybrian
Looks like my vids sparked your curiousity fire.
Since I already know how the game is played on both sides of the fence(Valley vs. Basin), y'all might make the night more wackier than it's already supposed to be.
Catch y'all at the next.
Someone crank this shit and turn this room into a circle pit.
Go grab a beer, and take a hit to quell your fear.
Tonight is gonna be as much fun as we make it.
The party just started. OH SHIT! I'm already naked.
THIS COULD BE THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE
LET'S GET ANOTHER CASE AND STAY UP ALL FUCKING NIGHT
Empty cans on the floor.
Someone's head comes crashing through the door.
This party is really getting out of control.
The insides of the fridge are nailed to the wall.
Oh shit - That dude who lives here looks fucking pissed.
PAIN is all my head will feel when i wake up.
I DON'T CARE - So pour me out another fucking cup
THIS COULD BE THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE
Let's get another case and stay up all fucking night.
SOMEONE THREW A BRICK INTO MY TV!
IT WASN'T US - We were all outside smoking trees.
WHERE'S MY PHONE?!!? I'm gonna call the fucking cops.
FUCK IT! I'M WAY TOO DRUNK - So let's all do another shot.
The night is ending cuz the sun is comin' up.
Does anyone have a lighter to spark up these blunts?
The party was TOTALLY INSANE!
I'm gonna pass out in the van.
Tomorrow - Let's do it again.
THIS COULD BE THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE.
LET'S GET ANOTHER CASE AND STAY UP ALL FUCKING NIGHT.
THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE.
Yeah fella's, keep taunting me with promises of unwarranted, debauchery and general mayhem in the streets of West LA.
How long the party going to go on 'til tonight anyway?
I get off at 12AM, and if I get my younger bro to drive us down there, 1.5 hours at the most.
As I recall, that shit didn't break up until 3AM.
I just don't want to be seen as the damned, clean-up crew.
OOOOoooohhhhh!!!!
I AMZ DYING 2 SEEZZ THA FOTO'S!!!!
Don't worry, I'll definitely be making next months, one way or the other.
However, my dependency on this newfound high is eradicating my rational-thought routine.
And fresh media in relation to the MOB is the only thing that will prevent me from TURNING!!!
