It's with great pleasure we entroduce to you a well deserved ROTW award to the great, the fantasic, the superbafrivilious Mister
420LaHaRR!!!! AKA John Lahar (correct me if I'm wrong brotha).
John has been rolling with MR ever since at least '06, and I've known him for at least that long. In all the time I've known him, I've never seen him finish at the front of the MR rides, and it's not because he's slow! This dude is always, and I mean always helping people out that have a flat or a mechanical problem. I've personally seen him break out of his bag a tube size that he doesn't even use, only to give it to someone that needed it on the ride! John is someone that is always doing the thankless job of sweeping and is seldom finishing the ride with everyone else. A true rida if there ever was one. Far more deserving of this award than I was too!

this is more than true, on the valentine ride my friends' tire decided to explode, laharr promptly helped him change the tube long after everyone had left the stop.
plus he was there when MW pooped in the playground at 630am

I will say tthat Laharr rode a centrury with my on Saturday, and there was a flat not even 10 minutes into the ride....guess how we knew there were people back? Somebody said, "Where's Laharr? Need I say more? Oh yes, I do. But, I want to give Javier his due for this week. I have many questions and many, many things good things to say about Laharr, but lets give javi his week....and give me some time to move across the country, first. I love you 420Laharr

I don't think I made what I was trying to say about Laharr clear....with the spelling mistakes and my probably misjudged assumption...I was thinking: "Everyone knows Laharr is the first one to stop to help people with mechanicals and flats. Have you ever seen Laharr in the front of a ride? Me neither...and there's a reason for it. He helps those who can't fix their bikes.

tern brings an interesting point about john. It makes me reflect on my behavior on most rides, which you do find me at the front of the rides. I used to cork more but i met an agro driver once that intentionally tried to run me off the road. Im over that fear and will help more with corking. and being that im a bicycle kitchen cook i will offer more of my help with repairs and extra tubes. I'll be on the more on the lookout and less of that wheee, whooo hooo, fast tendencies.
i know laharr deserves it but his nomination should wait till javi gets his chance.

i met laharr on the first la noche ride. a few of us showed up early and were drinking in the bushes at the top of los feliz and he made me pick him up some tecate tallboys at the liquor store down the street because i was about to re-up. we later discussed this chance encounter at like 4am in the backyard of some party dak took us to a a few years later.
stand up dude for sure.

420 is the shitsnicks.I think hes saved me twice from doing rides sober.Always willing to pop a beer for me.Rides all the way from LBC to attend our rides and one of the OGs when it came to not leaving a rida behind.Always hustling when a repair is needed.

LaHaRR has been keeping our rides well oiled not only mechanically, but also positive vibally too! There's been so many times I was jonesing for a beer he has come through time and time again. I swear that dude can pull a cold Tecate out of his bum hole!
I don't remember when exactly I meet you John, but I'm glad I did.
And he's got an awesome head to write on!!!

you are all brilliant. You don't see a good thing, even when it comes up with a refrigerator bag full of beer and chocolate and gives you hug.
LaHarr is not your usual midnight rida, he comes to the party with his bags full and heart open. Typical rida comes to the party with there bag empty and their hands open.
Let LaHar be the example. Stop by the store before the ride.

John's backpack weighs 146 pounds. He keeps a small human in there who rides a specially designed compact stationary bike which in turn generates electricity that supplies John's robotic leg with a jolt of energy enabling him to be the fucking coolest dude on this ride. congrats Laharrrr

No way around it. Always smiling, always helping the new folks. If I'm in the back, holdin' it down for the rear gap, I always expect to find this man even further behind me.
I remember riding from Spring Thing to Brassknuckles parents place with LaHaRR, sexy and GoPez. We took some terrible, never ending hill to get there. We were all bitching and failing fast. We were all on road bikes, unleden; but LaHaRR was on the single speed 29er with his legendary bag. He was bitching too, but the revelation sure shut us up. Way strong rider. (way sweaty rider) haha.
Another tale of awesomness. Riding up the Venice boardwalk at dusk we encounter a big concrete planter thing built into the boardwalk that divides the path in two. I took the right side and John took the left one. The left one ended abruptly at a 6" drop right onto the beach. That was funny to see.

Hey, did I ever tell you guys that LaHarr is famous? It's true. I was taking a bus home after the Century Ridge Way party thing, and the driver noticed my MR t-shirt and asked me whether I knew another guy who comes up all the way from San Pedro. "Oh," I said, "is he kind a big dude named John with a shaved head?" "YES," she replied, all excited, "THAT'S THE ONE!" Then she told me a mildly amusing anecdote regarding him, which I will not repeat here. You know you're core elite when the bus drivers know you.
