Remember Annie,
Regarding Levels, You cannot have the music levels set at say, 6, and your mic set at the same levels. It sounds ok to the DJ but to the audience, the sort of cancel each other out.
You need to have the mic levels at least 1.5 -2 notches higher to talk over the music...

When I was a little PC, my mom liked that song a lot and she would play the record, and I misinterpreted the line "you can't see the forest for the trees" as "you can't see the forest or the trees." So I thought it was a song about a poor little blind child and it made me sad. The end.
