Midnight Ridazz link on Felt Bicycles
Thread started by MikeyWalsh at 03.19.08 - 6:17 pm

The folks over at Felt mentioned that I might want to tell the Ridazz about a little link they put up at the end of an article on one of my bikes. Since they were nice enough to do a write-up on my handiwork, I figured returning the favor was the least I could do. So, feel free to check it out...

This looks bogus to me. I don't see 173 FELT logos all over it.

WOW nice job on the bike Mikey! Great job paying attention to little details. I like how the controls were worked out for the brakes and how you worked the drum brakes in on this.

Nice job on presenting your bike and great pics too.

I thought maybe some kind of mud flaps were in order, but I couldn't find any WWII motorcycles that had mud flaps.

I noticed that you sanded the finish on alot of the surfaces. Did you know there's something at home depot that you can paint on metal and it itches the surface?

@User1

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, I didn't expect the writeup from Felt. I just built the page for myself and my friends to have a little personal record/journal of my experiences. Then I sent Felt an email and was like, "Hey, check out what I did to one of your bikes, in case you're curious."

Next thing I knew, they replied and wanted to feature it on their site. So, that was rather cool and unexpected.

Yeah, I know there are chemical options to prepare metal for painting. However, I've never done that and I didn't want to go using harsh chemicals I knew nothing about. Plus, from the research I did, some of those chemical options can weaken the integrity of the metal if you use the wrong chemical on the wrong metal. Taking those things into account, I elected to just do things the old fashioned way and use sandpaper and elbow grease.

That bike is sweet and you ride like a champ! I was on the Memorial Ride with you. I was one of the "urban warrior/organ donor" kids.

That thing is fantastic. Really nice work. I'm looking forward to spotting it on a ride.

I admired your bike at the officer Simmons Memorial Ride.
It caught my eye right away. Your "Indiana Jones" hat and leather jacket created a total package.
That is one sweet ride, and reading about the great pains you took to get it right makes me appreciate it even more.
Come May (when the movie hits), you'll have to ride at midnight on back roads to get a decent ride in without being constantly stopped by admirers!

@CreativeThing

Thanks. Glad you like it. Sure was a fun project to develop.

As for the movie, yeah, I was thinking that once the next Indy movie comes out, I might ride to a premiere or something, just to hang out and make tourists trip out.
