And I'm talking about someplace where they're actually in stock and for a decent price.
Reason being is that I found out about a trucking company in Van Nuys that sounded quite, promising as far as hiring me with the accident on record.
Only problem is the fact that it's a team-operation and there might not be enough room for the Hummer to be folded into.
That, and if I'm branded as a "second-seater", there's a good chance the "1st-seater" might be a dick.

So, anything that fits into a suitcase, or a travel-roller would be quite useful.

Dahon's corporate office is not that far from you. It's at Duarte, CA 91010. Maybe they have a deal for you? If not, they should know who are the big wheelers and dealers around here. I'll be going to my fav LBS today and he has a great selection of folders and recumbents. What's great about him is that you can take a big for the day with them on the rides they have on the weekend. This way you have a good idea on the bike. This includes the recumbents they have too. I can see what they have in stock or you can call them.

There's a dealer in hollywood - western and santa monica. You can get the details from the dahon website. They have some bikes in stock, but the Dahon import warehouse is in town so they can run over and get anything you are interested in within 24 hours if Dahon have it in stock.

BikeMom and I got our 2006-model Speed TRs from a LBS whom I won't name. They've been fully straight with us and that included when they told me they would not be able to fix
the squealing or chirping noise in my Speed TR's drivetrain. So I talked to SRAM who told me how to oil the internal hub gears without de-spoking the hub, and what oil to use, and what to do if the hub got dunked (which it did during the rains this Spring).

Anyway, if compactness is priorty one, check the picture, bring your tape measure to the dealer and have a good look at how the different bikes fold up. Some 20" wheel Dahons fold with the cables and handlebars to the inside (Boardwalk and Speed), in between the wheels (which is smaller and protects the cables and brake actuators, but requires rotating handlebars which limits your options for bars) while others (Speed TR) fold with the cables and brake actuators to the outside (way wider and leaves brake actuators and cables unprotected).

Re dealers, here's a dealer who customizes some Dahon models. They'll rebuild a base Speed or Mu P8 model with what they consider the best features of those and the Speed TR.

Here's mine in a suitcase, which actually requires wheel, seat, handlebar, and pedal removal, but still only takes about 10 minutes or so. The handlebar requires removal because it is a bullhorn bar rather than a flat bar, but it is much more comfortable and lets me get into a more normal roadbike riding position. All the other Dahons have a very upright riding position that I didn't like.

Hard to tell from the pic, but I don't see any brake or shifter cables... so either they're fixed gear conversions (seems unlikely) or single speed freewheel with coaster brake.

I called the owner about a week ago, and that's exactly what they were, "coasters".
If anything, I might just get these and then add on some parts.
Essentially, I just need something sufficient to get me through six months of team-driving.
After that, it's back to the Hummer-Montague when I go solo with Swift again in November.
