Hey hey, I was wondering if anyone was interested in helping me make this a bike ride. It's pretty cool, but it would be better if THE CYCLISTS showed up.
http://www.lacma.org/events/latenight07.html
Let me know: vodkarockstar21(at)yahoo(dot)com
One thing everyone needs to RSVP if they want to come...
reply
it is a free event...i just RSVP'd last night....
yeah, we should make a ride there....

I figured that, so why not ride in a group and take over there two small bike racks up front.. and there fence.

Holly SHIT!! Great minds think alike.
I got this today and was thinking about posting it as well...
Guess I'm lazier...
7pm - 3am on a Thursday!
Gotta be a hard-head for this one.
Let's do it!
Route suggestion? Time? Distance?
Order of opperation?
Ride - Party?
Party - Ride?
Ride - Stop - Party?
I vote for an 8:30 meet. Ride @ 9:00. Get to LACMA @ 11:30.
Eric Hair06.14.07 - 9:05 pm
reply
So yes I will post the ride... Eric you can help me think up the route. But from what I heard last year the line to get in was long!!
So I was thinking of an early start time.
We can do Ride party ride.. We'll see.

YEAH CUBCAKES!!!
representin!!!
yeah, i vote for an earlier start time....
ooo! or,
perhaps we could even organize a couple of start times? for example. one group gathers and leaves base station one (TBD) around 8pm for a ride that ends at LACMA... and the next gathers at base station 2 (TBD) by 9pm then off to the late night LACMA -(LLL)
we could even have a ride that started at LACMA late night at like 11pm and came back to LLL before 1 am ish to meet up with the CUBCAMPERS and CUB CAKES!!!
THAT'S RIGHT I JUST SUGGESTED 3 RIDES IN ONE NIGHT!!!
@spiral - it is 2:15 am, where are the CUB CAKE PHOTOS???
hehahahaha.
ingipet06.15.07 - 2:18 am
reply
What the fuck are Cubcakes?!
Is it some poo oriented stoner shit?!?
No, seriously....
Eric Hair06.15.07 - 12:47 pm

"poo oriented stoner shit?" - Exactly!
Go CubCakes!
Joe Borfo06.15.07 - 1:26 pm

CUB CAKES!!!
we peeled off from cub camp and went on a CAKE WALK of a ride...
anyhoozle. if you think that is poo stoner shit, so it goes.
***********
what about ride planning?
i was thinking satellite rides to LLL a la Spoke (N) art style....
i could lead one from the first satellite base, vermont/santa monica red-line perhaps? at 8pm?
ingipet06.15.07 - 1:36 pm
reply
has anyone attended one of these events in the previous years??
before we get excited about late arrivals and baking our cubcakes, i want to inform the folks that the LINE IS INCREDIBLY LONG, and the wait time can be up to an hour or more. maybe the fixie dudes can do tricks and crash while we're waiting. maybe joe borfo can organize some relays in which we finish by crashing into at least three pedestrians in line, to win the prize!
eat cubcakes!
meandmybluebike06.15.07 - 2:15 pm
reply
yeah!! CUB CAKE DRAG RACES in front of the long ass line!!!
AROOOOO!!!
and i mean "DRAG" races.
boys: get yur short short skirts.
ladies: act all liberated and shit
winner gets "Special" Cubcakes made with horticultural enhancement.
CUB CAKES!!!
ingipet06.15.07 - 2:32 pm
reply
LOL, there seems to some confusion about the Cubcakes, maybe they're like matter at the quantum level....they can be whatever they want to be. ; )
Long line huh? Hmmm...well, if there's two things ridazz are good at, it's riding and standing around enjoying themselves. I think we'll be fine so long as LACMA doesn't mind a line with a big ball of people in the center.
Is everyone going to the Sins & Sprockets ride tonight? We can discuss then....?
Eric Hair06.15.07 - 3:03 pm
reply
Seriously though, what the hell is a cubcake?
What have you kids been doing since I've been MIA???
kyber06.15.07 - 3:10 pm
reply
Last time I went to this (year before last), a few friends and I managed to avoid the long line by getting there early. We were able to get drinks immediately, and I was embarrassingly drunk by the time everyone else got in.
Needless to say, I vote for an early ride start.

Is Cubcakes like Bitchcakes??
That would be awesome!
Eric Hair06.15.07 - 4:55 pm

So I called LACMA and they suggested to get there at a later time. In the previous years the line was the longest between 7-9.
Is that true??
feelingrandy06.15.07 - 5:03 pm
reply
I went to one of these events last year. I got there a little over and hour after it began and we had to wait in line for almost two hours. Waiting in line surrounded by a bunch of annoying wanna be hipsters sucked ass. Lets get there early. I already RSVPd... Get on it!
slimegreen06.15.07 - 5:04 pm
reply
Hey y'all,
I emailed LACMA regarding when to best get there to avoid the long lines. Here's my question and their answer,
Hello,
I was going to do this last year but I got frightened by the HUGE, LONG line. Will doing the RSVP thing help this year? What could be expected this year so as to avoid abnormally long lines? Any tips to avoiding the crowd this year?
Thanks, My Sex Machine
-------------------------------------------------
Hi My Sex Machine,
Thanks for your interest in LACMA! Due to the popularity of the event, the lines will be inevitable, but also avoidable. RSVPing will definitely help and I would highly suggest coming early say from 7 to 9 or much later around 11.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. We look forward to seeing you here next week!
Very best,
Christine Choi

It probably will thin out after 9 or 10, as it's a work night.
Why not have a later ride as well? It could be the same route, just with a later start time for those who can't make it for the early shift.
angle06.15.07 - 7:01 pm
reply
I want to make it one route one Ride.
I want us all to get there and have all those hipsters mouth drops as we show them what it REALLY is like to have a good time.
GET ON YOUR BIKES AND RIDE!!!
feelingrandy06.15.07 - 7:28 pm

I was thinking of the people who might have to be at work late, and can't make an early ride. It will definitely be better to get a big ride, though. So if you have a demanding job, take the day off, or better yet, just quit.
It'll be worth it.
angle06.16.07 - 1:00 am
reply
After much debate at SINS tonight. It has been decided that it will be a late ride.
Meet time 9:00 pm
So what if we wait in line We'll do drag races in front of LACMA, we'll make our own party and mingle while we stand around.
It is what WE do BEST!!
other than ride our bikes.

Fuck yeah! Excellent idea! I agree getting there later is a better idea. A lot of the yahoos will be gone by midnight and the place will be ours! And drag races! Do they make clips for high heels? This shit is getting more BRC every week!

Anyone know the parking situation around the area? We can even park anywhere from the start to the finish of the ride. Just not sure if there's any free areas to park or not.

I emailed HIT + RUN and told them about the ride, and asked if they would have anything bike related.
This is there response:
Thanks for your support with the HIT+RUN.
The LACMA event is going to be SICK! We have some really dope designs for this thursday. Since we are working with LACMA and the event is an art related event. We chose designs that fit in relation with the night and the space. We plan these events months in advance and was not aware of the event being the finishing point of alot of bike crews. BUT WE STILL MANAGED TO PUT A SECRET DESIGN IN THE MIX THAT THE INSTITUTION IS NOT AWARE OF THAT IS BIKE RELATED FOR ALL YOU THAT ARE GOING TO ATTEND!!
IF YOUR INTERESTED BE SURE TO ASK FOR THE SECRET SCREEN!!

Keeping it cool....

Just find a post or pole that is secure, perferably where there is light or high traffic or even a security guard around. Your bike should be pretty secure, but it always depend on the lock that you use. There is always pleanty of parking. I think even by the entrance they have racks for your bike.

LACMA PARKING LOT located at Spaulding Ave. and Wilshire Blvd directly across the street from the main entrance of the museum $5

Street Parking 6th st, Wilshire Blvd. and other streets near the museum,

there's plenty of FREE parking in the residential areas that surround lacma. i live in the area, so i'm suggesting a block or so SOUTH of wilshire, and if you don't mind walking or parking and riding your bike a couple blocks, then look for spaces between wilshire and olympic (near fairfax).
bike parking: there are only 3 arc-type bike racks out front
