More Rides To The Rooftop. This week we are playing The Decline Of Western Civilization Part ll: The Metal Years. Those riders that have felt as if the past movies have not fit the ethos. Step Up!! This is the kind of movie that wants to get yelled and laughed at.
Please use this message board to find other people in your area that may be riding to 1830 for the show.

I may have to get myself over to this one . . . on foot probably, since it would be almost silly for me to ride the three blocks from my house to the Rooftop.
I've only seen the first one (a bunch of times) and only a few short clips from "Part II".

Hey all. Didn't get around to posting this weeks movie: However, better late than never:
This weeks movie will be SUBURBIA. A film by Richard Linklater about wasted youth in suburban America and the regrets that may or may not appear from said lifestyle.
Please join us at 1830 Sunset Blvd. 90026 in Echo Park. We are a few doors West of the Echo on Sunset. Literally the only open door without a bodyguard in the area.
The film starts at 9pm - 9:15pm and we open the doors up at about 8:30pm. The cost is $3.
In the past it has gotten kind of chilly on the roof, but I don't know if that will be a problem tonight. Feel free to bring your bicycles up to the second floor and you can put them in the living room or in the dining area.

Hell yeah, so glad that I hauled ass in time to catch the start of the opening sequence. Happiness is an awesome film, this must have been my 8th time seeing it, but it had been a while. I always love to see reactions from the uninitiated. Props to who ever picked that out, and that musical performance after the screening was splendid. It was a great way to wind down the evening. I told my self I would try to get better sleep during the middle of the week, but that was well worth losing sleep over.

GATE OF FLESH
Planned as an "adult release," this 1964 film is set in a burnt out Tokyo ghetto of post-World War II Japan, where a band of prostitutes defend their territory and form a sort of family to protect themselves from their surroundings.
During the filming, the costume and set designers had to get creative with their B-movie budget--stealing props, coordinating minimal costumes, and making due with whatever they could get their hands on. The resulting product is an extreme look at life, with extreme characters, and a theatrical surreal set. This film is not suppose to emulate real life.

If Hollywood to East Hollywood isn't epic enough for you, I proposing a ride from Benton Way to the rooftop.
It's a 144,840 cm journey, but if we leave early enough we can make the rooftop screenings. Anybody up for this?
