ABOUT US:
THE LOS ANGELOPES. We ride freak-bikes, we are freaks riding bikes. Bring your tall bikes, small bikes, your best animal gear, and your YELLING lungs! This is the ride and route designed to be a spectacle. We will RIDE 15 miles at a VERY VERY SLOW pace to populated blocks and expand on their idea of fun! We are fun! WE ARE LOS ANGELOPES!!!! IF YOU LIKE THE CUBZZ, CRANK MOB, WETSIDE, OR PIER PRESSURE RIDES, expect those energy levels!
AN IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you feel like riding fast, PLEASE do not attend this ride. This was a re-occuring problem on previous rides, so I have but one conclusion...I am going to say this once, in all seriousness...
I WILL SLASH YOUR TIRES ON A LOS ANGELOPES RIDE.
if there is one ride to be FUCKING SLOW, Los Angelopes is it. People work really hard to make fucked up pieces of metal and rubber ride-able, and this is the ride for them. If you feel the need, start another group that goes ahead. No problem.
THE MAY LOS ANGELOPES ROUTE WILL BE POSTED BY 5/3
Contact info for this ride: MARCUSGETSEMAIL@GMAIL.COM
I've upgraded both Chopette and Billy so they are not quite so spin-y, I'd kinda like to ride Chopette again, as it is BY FAR my favorite freak bike (even if it is f'ing impossible to ride, I can ride it and it's fun) but I need to know how hilly the route is going to be (as hills present a problem for the little pink wonder). So, SKIDMARCUS, let me know.
If I can ride Chopette, would anyone be interested in riding Billy? If there's a ton of hills (as in more than maybe 1 real one or two smallish ones, anyone who remembers the agony I was in climbing Sunset from Grand to Elysian Park knows why I am saying this) I'll stick to Billy, and poor Chopette will languish lonely in my bedroom for a while longer.
Damn, you know you have a problem when you can't decide what freak bike to ride.
If Billy is the one you had at the Glow Ride; the one that is easily flipped over backwards then hell yes! I'll ride that 'tard bike!! Does it still have that basket on it?
Billy is the one I had on the Glo Ride.
It has some new features, such as reasonable gearing (no more working hard to reach 12 mph) and a third wheel wheelie bar type thing. It's even more ridiculous. Oh yes, and it still has the basket.
Ok eric, I'll have it for you, but you're going to have to meet me to get it, either at Union Station, or i could possibly walk em up to grand, but that would be a lot of work.
I'm probably going to have to take the train down cause I got 2 bikes, and the closest train that will get me there in time gets to Union Station at a bit after 12:30...
SUPER AWESOME

who has a barbecue bike? I have a whole lot of hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie dogs leftover from den dinner. They need to be eaten and los angelopes seems the perfect venue.
are there gnarly hills on this ride? My legs are like wet noodles after a month in India and a couple weeks of low mileage even before I left. I'll ride the bbq bike but will also whine and moan if forced to ride up steep hills on it.
This is why I want my sidecar bike to have a recumbent on the side - tandem power.
The general route is very flat, but there will be a climb in NE up Sunset to 1830 for the Funderstorm Party. Its nothing crazy, and no one's gonna have any problem, not even the man on the bouncing pink bike!
My white, Honda Accord will still be tucked near your area.
Please give me a ring @ 760-686-3051 before y'all head out.
I got to head down to Montebello to get another app turned in, so, I'll be headed up there a little later.
I'm gonna be lazy and ride a regular bike. But if westsidazz heading east want to stop by my place on the way, I'll have the grill going and den dinner leftovers (burgers and dogs) available for consumption.
Hungry eastsidazz who want to make a detour by my place are, of course, also welcome.
Watching ridazz riding in the LA river.. FUN. The beats on the abandoned cars... amazing! Matt taco's his fixie tandem then Harry is lying flat on Broadway..... now he's riding in his boxers. Smoke house (thanks Lance) yummy. Hanging outside of the Smoke House watching the bikes. Watching our own rida doing traffic control... so funny. Riding to the rooftop and having to walk to House of Spirits for beer sucked. Man... it took a long time to walk two blocks. Funderstorm performs!! Arriving to the Midnight Dragrace. Swing dancing w/ Annie in the 2nd St. tunnel (we've got do that again... hmm.. the swing/jive ride?) LAPD showing up and not supporting us this time... bummer. I leave on my own towards Burbank... stopping on the river path to take a pee... saliva starts building... but don't yack. Made it home... sleep. Can't wait for the next one!!
Man that was awesome. It makes me wanna ride a freak bike everywhere. Thanks Fuzz for letting my borrow Billy. I'm so sore in all new muscle groups from riding that bike. While I've got him, can I paint him?
East Side FREAK bike ride-to ride Saturday, Santa Monica B all the way down to Lee's Mom....TAKERS??
Damn Fuzzbeast, I never thought that there was a bike I couldn't ride.
You really did it this time, constructed a bike that defeated me on a downhill.
I'll definitely give it a go next time.
Perhaps it should be taken up to the Portland Zoo for a real, test of fortitude.
he is a man amongst men for handling that thing no problem. i dont doubt he could kick everyones ass on the zoobomb. that bike is all upper body strength right there.
I managed to ride my freak bike further than I ever had before, but my ride was cut short by an exploding tire. After a 45 minute walk home, I got on another bike and rejoined (sorry to miss riding in the river) at The Smokehouse. Finally got to see Funderstorm perform. Woke up in the middle of the night with a cramp in my leg where I'd never had one before. That's what Los Angelopes will do to ya!
Just wanted to say I had an awesome time on Los Angelopes and the meeting up w/ the ride from BD and us to greet our ALC Ridazz was awesome. I was so caught up in the moment when we pulled up and all the hugs were being given... I was like, "Shiet dufus... get the camera out!!!"
I ended up leaving after getting to the park and totally forgot I parked up by the Westside Pavilion. I needed to pick up a friend from from LAX and was sooooo wasted. Luckily the plane was late and I sat in my car sobering up. I love Los Angelopes!!
