I don't know anything about this, but if it is music, and ruinedbyidiots say so, then it shall be.
I have heard of Immortal Technique, and if I have heard of him, it can't be too underground. I only listen to music on KRTH, if it is not played there, I didn't hear it.
Unless he is talked about on KPFK? Then i would have heard of him.
Hip Hop shows are way too expensive. There is a completely different scale for prices. $25/30 is a lot of money, no doubt, but finding any Hip Hop show for under $15 is rare.
Every group that has ever been on Warped Tour is Mainstream? Brother Reade would probably disagree with that.
Maybe, just maybe they only play shows that are in basements or in tunnels or in step-down rooms that are below street level? Like, if they performed in the Bike Polo parking lot space over by Bikerowave where we had the BBQ last summer? Would they still be underground?
My mind reels with the possibilities.
Y'all want underground?
If they play in run-down, dive bar on SR-18 in Lucerne Valley at 2AM, then they're underground.
If they're typical venue consists of having to find holes in fences and keep look-outs on the perimeter, then that's underground.
If the best sound amplification comes from going to Searchlight, NV and setting up shop in the abandoned mine tunnels, then that too is underground.
I love this tastyfull thread.
The discussion on underground is craking me up.
As an artist would you, if you could get paid $ 30 over $15, choose the latter ?
The point missed completely..Immortal Technique is the back bone to Concious Intellectual Hip Hop. He makes his moves on his own dime, he isn't selling out Staple center but he is constantly exposing the truth behind our fascist governments malicious methods of operation. He has been fighting the Bush regime even before Baby Bush took office in "00". I strongly advise any one not familiar with Immortal Techniques word to do some there homework...If you are Anit-the Blind fold you'll thank me later...
RBI ,sorry for not being politically correct, these guys can prolly help you 1 800 the law2 thats 843 5292..
david icke, michael tsarion, alex jones, myron !@#$?an.
it takes more then 3 1/2 minutes sound bytes to consider conspiracies intellect.
i like how immortal is putting alternative histories and conspiracies on the map (cos he aint underground no more) but i wonder how many peeps actually delve deeper into the subject matter after the cd has finished.
I'll try not to hijack the thread much because I would love to go check out this show, but what makes something "underground" and who can really decide? We sound like a bunch of pretentious asses by saying something isn't underground. Enjoy all music, don't judge it based on who is listening to it and how many of them are. If the Beatles never went mainstream, they would have never put out some of their best shit.
This post will surely be followed up by someone knocking the Beatles or of the like. So, I'll beat ya to it and say I was just making a point. To all those that go to the show, it's well worth the 30 bucks if you have it. Immortal is sick.
Underground or not, at $30 a ticket he sure doesn't seem to be as for the people as he professes. Seems to me he's just found his niche and is taking advantage of it just as much as those he rails against take advantage of their positions.
Sup Detriot, Hey me and couple of Ridazz are riding over from the western hollywood station aroound 8pm on Saturday..You're more than welcome to roll over with us..hit me 323 nine2zero 86fiftyone peace...
much love on the invite, but i have a friend coming in from out of town and need to try and be a good host, do the dinner thing. im getting her to come on The Mother of All Ridezz though. bummed I cant check this out but ill try and convince her
Towlie I know you're A good person, so I wont take your last opinion into consideration...Immortal Technique is hella far from exploiting his people .This is a Man that has traveled to the depths of gorilla warfare in colombia and panama and has basically lead the Anti-Bush hip-hop movement for close to a decade while 99.9 percent of the suckas your'e familiar with won't non the less even care to even push such delicate topic..FUCK UNDERGROUND this thread was never intended to specify the meaning of a Subculture but was indeed meant to let the truth be known behind monapolizing government stategies.
Immortal Technique is rightous and isn't and won't be censored by any means .
Skano, sometimes its not worth it to try and school em.
Whether or not Immortal Technique is underground is irrelevant. It's all about the music and the message.
As for the ticket price... when I was old enough to go out to shows it was the mid 90's and anything over 10 dollars for a show was a LOT unless it was a UNITY or a big artist (such as tribe, krs, heiro etc). But with the file sharing going on today, indie artist have to survive so I don't mind shelling out the $$ if I get a good performance.
I dont think he gets to set the price on tickets. We had him perform a SCF and he was doing it for the love.
In addition, Im gonna say something that will give me heat but I dont give a fuck.
Seems that any activity which charges a fee over $5 bucks gets a lot of bitching from riders. People were bitching when we were selling the "Noche Ride" shirts without taking into account that we were putting it back to the rides.Sometimes its worth paying for people's creativity and passion .Nothing wron with that.
Thats why many of you fuckers spend so much ob a bike and parts.
You know we cant really post a ride which requires a entry fee because many will bitch..

Quit being a cheapskate.
Cheapskate=a miserly or stingy person; especially : one who tries to avoid paying a fair share of costs or expenses.
i thought they ditched the "$5 show" rule towards the end of their existence. this post reminds me that i need to get my instrument dvd back from my friend.
