your old band came up in a discussion on another board i post on. i just wanted to let you know that people out there still care.
yeah, it's not a demo, though. it's a 5 song cassette released by mercury as an advance promo for the first lp. i was on their promo list at that time and got a copy in the mail, which i still have. it has that version of "anger" with the anti zack lyrics (which he changed for the lp because he felt like it was counterproductive), a version of "ritual" with a spoken word track instead of the vocals that were on the lp, a song called "body cry" that is pretty much just a rearranged cover of "hopeless" by 108, and two tracks that were on the lp. "breed the killer" is one, if i remember correctly.

ha awesome. the band was actually called "Social Justice" when I was in it... but I recently toured with the new line up across europe... 54 cities 14 countries in 55 days.... what an adventure t'was.... thanks for posting

yeah, they changed their name from social justice to downset when they signed to a major label, and the bassist quit when that happened. i'd actually really like to hear the diy 7 inch they did as social justice, but i'm sure it's impossible to find.
they call it "compassionate chug". see chokehold, unbroken, downcast, endeavor, groundwork, etc etc.

I have about 10 of those 7 inch DIY records they are talking about left. and another 10 of the european release.

that first chokehold album is still bad ass, even if it sounds like it was recorded with a My First Sony tape deck, while underwater and next door.

Also, covering 108 at any time makes you a good person. It's like an automatic trip to nirvana.

Rbi how much you lookin to spend? :) The european release has a 5th song that the diy doesn't, a cover of Inside OUt's "burning fight" we got everyone in the studio to sing back up on it haha. I would sell you that one. god damn I miss playing hardcore music..... anyone here remember cell63?? It was right by your crib sexy.
I should just digitize the songs. I still have the Original DAT tape somewhere.....

Was that, the nice house on Rinaldi, where everyone would play in the basement? If so, I remember it. I was never into hardcore or punk music, so I never went, but many of friends went/played that spot. Kinda wanted to see it, but it was also weird in high school, you could hang out with people who where into different music genre, but you be dammed, if you where welcomed to the gigs. Hopefully, that was just my high school.

I don't give free advertisement. I use search engines, I don't google.
If I drink a cola, I drink a cola, not coke or pepsi. If I use a tissue, I don't necessarily use a Kleenex. Just a little a class consciousnes, against a corporate onslaught of our minds.
I posted that original post, because I thought it was humorous.

I bought my first pressing Chain of Strength 7" for $3 the day it came out and belived every goddamn word on it and then wrote TRUE TILL DEATH all over my skateboard and then those bastards sold out and started drinking and I smashed the record in the streets to show them a thing or two.*
*by smashed it in the streets I meant kept it in pristine condition right next to my first press GB and judge on schism 7"s.

there was a story about a guy that bought one of the test presses of the youth of today lp. he paid like three grand for it and opted out of any additional shipping insurance. the postal worker who delivered it to his house folded the lp mailer in half to cram it into the mailbox. whooops!
