My work hates bikes

Sorry for the stupid rant here but I need to vent somehow since doing anything here at work would result in termination.
I commute do work by bike and have done so full time for a while now, as well as Part time for the entire year I have worked here. Today I was told the owner of my small company does not approve of me keeping a bike inside the office (In a back corner, Not touching anything or making a mess). I was told this is strictly a cosmetic issue. aka "Eyesore". In the year I have worked here I have seen said boss less than 5 times in this room.
My workplace is not pristine and I honestly cannot wrap my head around the fact that I was asked to move my bike because people don't like how it looks, when my work conditions are considered. I asked for a safe place to park and was shown a chain link fence very far away, in an area where Semi's park and Do loading. Thanks.
Luckily I do work in a guarded closed gate Complex, so the parking garage is very safe, and I know I can park near security guards who know me, and my bike, But I still don't like the idea of locking up 8-10 hours a day About 1000 Feet from my desk, when there is literally tons of unused space here where My bike can sit in peace.
Obviously they do not know it's bike to work month ;)
aarrrgh.

Invite your boss to rides. Then, we he's butttttnaked at CRANK Mob crying tears of joy and yelling about how good Life is, tell him, "I'm sorry, you can't do that here."

I work for a small company and my boss would never be on a bike.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been pretty successful in getting accommodations made for bikes at my work. I wish you the best of luck.
If you can find someone else interested in biking to work, that might help. It's easy to write off an individual as that crazy one, but if you get multiple people biking to work, all of a sudden you are a population.

Find out what your b0ss is into and attach said interest to your bicycle with zip ties.

ack, fuck that
i get to park mine right outside within spitting distance because it gives the building a "green friendly vibe"....now if only I wasn't the only person cycling within 20 miles of here, we'd be set

Wow, thats some bullshat.
One of the only nice things about working for Disney is that they're actually trying to encourage alternative methods of transportation with incentives. Carpoolers get 2 bucks a day, cyclists get 4 bucks a day via the Commuter Assistance Program. There are bike racks at each of the 3 major entrances into the building. You even get 2 free Arrowhead bottled waters a day.
NOT trying to gloat, its just a shame that some companies have their heads up their asses when it comes to this.

I've gotten similar bullshit, but not from my employers (who LOVE bikes) but from the building they're renting from. I've been told when locking my bike up to railing bars in an underground car park not to do that - why? "because it looks bad".
WTF?!?!?
Excuse me, but seriously. I just cannot wrap my head around this attitude, I can't understand where they are coming from at all.
illa, sounds like you're getting the same vibe from your place. But I am DAMNED if I know what it is.
HALP. Someone explain.

Yeah, It boils down to one person at the company. It sucks Everyone else there is pretty stoked I ride. Luckily I just invested in a new lock So come monday I will put it to the test.
I just dont get it... Especially since I have been doing it for so long. There is an awesome Steel Rail outside my window I could park it at But I work In a studio and there are tons of grip turcks unloading there and I dont trust them for anything. I have seen those trucks wreak havoc before.
and my bike is just about the sexiest thing ever. Even more so than Eric's hair.

thedoad,
Have you offered to keep the bike covered? It doesn't make sense to cover such a beauty as our bikes, but it just might be enough to make the bitch happy.
I'm sure you thought about a folder, so I won't mention that as a possibly.
Good luck.
