ABOUT US:
THE LOS ANGELOPES. We ride freak-bikes, we are freaks riding bikes. Bring your tall bikes, small bikes, your best animal gear, and your YELLING lungs! This is the ride and route designed to be a spectacle. We will RIDE 15 miles at a VERY VERY SLOW pace to populated blocks and expand on their idea of fun! We are fun! WE ARE LOS ANGELOPES!!!! IF YOU LIKE THE CUBZZ, CRANK MOB, WETSIDE, OR PIER PRESSURE RIDES, expect those energy levels!
AN IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you feel like riding fast, PLEASE do not attend this ride. This was a re-occuring problem on previous rides, so I have but one conclusion...
I am going to say this once, in all seriousness...
I WILL SLASH YOUR TIRES ON A LOS ANGELOPES RIDE.
if there is one ride to be FUCKING SLOW, Los Angelopes is it. People work really hard to make fucked up pieces of metal and rubber ride-able, and this is the ride for them. If you feel the need, start another group that goes ahead. No problem.
Yeah - come on guys - why are you moving it East? WTF? There's still a lot of people that want to do Los Angelopes and live over here. I was gonna go but now . . . I just don't know.
i've talked to mostly everyone in the West, and its all good with the people that have actually built bikes and associate with the concept. We are trying to spread the idea, a freak-bike ride. This isnt a second CRANK mob. Please dont hate, we are experimenting.
HEY did you notice that the spelled with an "S" version of Lopez (LOPES) is in the word "AngeLOPES"??? I know, so random. But that makes the name even cooler.
Eddie "GOpez" López
zuko and i been talking about building a road freak bike or two. I'll build one eventually. it is only a matter of time. as soon as there's another welding workshop i will attend it.]
I'm working on an ill design for a 4 person freaq bike.... I have no welding skills but am willing to learn! where can we make this happen on the east side?!
RB, that's a damn good question. I have skills, tools, and a passion for disasterous engineering, but no place to work.
Brassknuckles, werd has it that you have space and tools for working on stuffs. Is this correct, can you email me puhlease.
Also, please keep in mind, a freak bike does not have to be a chop shop concoction of metal work. Here's a few options for those of us that are not metal savy.
1. A cardboard box from a refrigerator, or similarly larg box, fit over your standard bicycle + paint party = the largest ridable brick, a kilo of coke from a drug parade, an 8th scale replica of Richie's THE BOX, etc etc
2. Wrap your frame in syran wrap. Buy 4 cans of Great Stuff expanding foam insulation. Apply as needed to create a bunny, a squid, a turd, a tapiocha bike, etc, etc.
eric hair and brassknuckle.... I am so down to make this happen. I'm working on the schematics...... it's gonna be a dooooozy. would like both your input I will hit you soon
I needs to build me a freakbike.
Here on the "OtherSide", the denizens of this exclave know nothing of a tall-bike, lowrider bike, and are still bemused by the contraption on which I roll upon.
oh and a 12" is way too small for the front. if you are going smaller than the rear wheel to avoid the tendency to wheelie, you are still going to want a much bigger wheel than a 12".
@Bknuckly and All: If the ride's to start at 2, the pre-party build should start as early as possible, right? I'll come with the sun around 6:30. Cool?
What? I'm the only loser getting up at 5:45 every morning? Okay, 7:30 then. This time it's not brunch, but BREAKFAST AT GRAND! I'll bring the golden showers.
I also have this nearly completed 4 person tandem called LongBike... however, it needs some love (and parts) to be finished... as I am broke to the point where paying rent means I have no money left, if anyone has any parts they're willing to donate, what I need is:
1 wald style bmx stem for a threaded fork (the wald stems are slightly thinner to accomidate the thicker walls of the steerer tube on a bmx)
i'm down with breakfast at grand. sat won't be much of a build day but rather a pick out your stuff for future building and help me organize because it's getting to be a mess. we'll tag the stuff you pick out so that no one uses it. it's first come first serve.
i pulled an all nighter after the no ride in the valley ride and am getting ready for los angelopes now. busted my camera last night so gotta pick up a new one.. along with a bell or horn ... any suggestions ??? what are those things that look like weed cannister that you blow in called and where do i get one if you know what im takkin about ? i need a nifty loud gadget last minute.
I <3 Los Angeleopes!!! You guys were like Ed McMahon delivering me a check for a million $$$! But instead it was just a bunch of freak friends on their freak bikes... delivering me my Spice Girls Bike! (thanks Michele for fixen her up!) *MUAH*MUAH*MUAH* I LOVA YOU GUISE! See you in a couple hours when I'm done getting people high on esspresso!
OMG. legs still hurt from tiny wheels. cardboard is amazing when fixing holes in tires! SALTON SEA BMXXX!!! LOS ANGELOPES ARRROOOOOAAAHHHHAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
man, im gonna kill myself if I miss one more of these rides!!! This is truly my kind of ride, a slow ride of custom home-made bikes! Im working on some projects just for this ride!
Now that's the way I like my FUN!!
Strange, gluttonous and all over the place.
I loved sampling all the freak bikes. FRANK's clanging orchestra is the best soundtrack I've ever heard.
That bus last night at the liquor store was like looking in a crystal ball and seeing the future of MR.
that video above, was for Fuzzbeast's knee. I don't know, they only said AAWW, I think once. I always thought, that was said constantly through the song. AAAHHHWWW!
Our girls our tops!..............................The Girls and E-rock, brought it this time, with the sunset blvd Island dance party. That will be another one of my favorite memories in life. That was fun. Thanks girls
Man, I'm sore all over, I just woke up a few minutes ago... but I must say, yesterday was one of the best rides I have been on, EVER.
That climb up sunset was the hardest climb I've EVER done.. and I've climbed mountains...
sooooo much fun. Snow Cones in Little Tokyo, Bike Swap at Lincoln Park, Dance Party for over an hour in the middle of sunset blvd, PeepShow MiniGolf at House of Spirits, Party at Mook and Kels, party at Ridgeway North...a day/night i will never forget.
Kel, thank you for a place to crash ! You rock.Thank You Thank You Thank You !

@Roadblock - I KNOW! Him and Franz on the tiny bronco bike had me almost falling off the tall.
@Fuzz and Annie
Saturday night's Sunset Dance Lane pushed Nicole's wish for an LA bike dance team into the necessary. We want to prepare a debut for the Freakfest 2008, in late June. You down to help choreograph? The only condition under which we are all operating is that E-rock must be a circus ring master. Coo?
@All other dancers
If you wanna commit, do it! Details about practices to come soon...keep reading (like you wouldn't anyway ;)
ALEC! dangit! i missed you guys...i am sorry we didnt get to catch up. i posted the stops and times we'd stay til, but we did cut one stop out (crewest). sorry guys.. next time, next time.
There's a new addition to the herd... it's name is Billy.
I'm not sure exactly what you'd call it other than an Angelope, or the product of a couple hours with a welder and no real plan, it rides and handles similar to Lena, and is about the same size, however, it's not a triple tall, as it is made from two roadbike frames, but isnt a tall bike.... oh and it has the wheels from a mini, but standard cranks... It's almost as ugly as frank (but with better welds and less noise) oh and it is kinda scary to ride.
The easiest user friendly one would be google's Picasa... download the program from here.. http://picasa.google.com/
Flickr is cool, I got one, but picasa's upload just kicks ass...
If I can remember... once you install Picasa... it will ask for a google acct and password. If you don't have one... I think you can create one within Picasa and it'll set you up from there. Point it to where all your folders are on your pc and it'll organize it for you. You can adjust colors, red eye, contrast, etc. from there too so it's pretty convenient.
I think this is the easiest, user friendly way to do it and Picasa Web Albums comes with 1GB of free storage so it'll give you a pretty good place to start from. Good luck...
SPOOK,
Yeah, i gotta find a new 12" wheel for the back, or a set of 16"s all around, prolly go with the 16"'s, they're more durable. i know dan's got a couple at grand.
I THINK YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE TO GET THE ATTACK OF THE BUS! AND I LOVE THE PIZZA SERIES.
THANK YOU SO MUCH PHOTOGRAPHERS! AL, ANNIE, MR. ROLLERS, KABS, SKD...YOU MADE THIS RIDE THE BEST RIDE IN REAL LIFE AND IN DIGITAL LIFE! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!
I AM INSPIRED!
LETS MAKE A PHOTO BOOK, A SCRAPBOOK, A HARD VERSION OF WHAT WE DO.. WE CAN BUILD A BIKE TO HOUSE IT! CREDITS TO ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS REPECTIVELY... WOULD ANYONE BE INTERESTED IN HELPING WITH THAT???

Yeah, sure . . . let's talk.
It was a great photogenic event from start to finish. Having the chance to shoot during the day and at night was fun. I'm only sorry I left before the House of Spirits stop.
Fuzzbeast: How many rad pictures of you from this ride?!
Everbody: Check out the smiles on everybody's faces in the pictures from Saturday - these are hysterical retarded amounts of animal madness fun smiles. Los Angelopes wil molest your funny bone!

id like to get in on this i have some very good material.
handbone@gmail.com
i finallyy figured out how to post but am gunna start next, this week is too hectic.
I was thinking about it, it could be more of a SCRAP BIKE, more than just a scrap book...we can weld our memories onto it after every ride..
So when people ask, "No, seriously, what is this?" instead of you yelling "WE ARE VEGANS FOR WAR!!!" like you always do, we'll just drop the SCRAP BIKE on them..
I like that idea! I thought of something similar but less weldy, since I still haven't welded anything yet! Anyone at home can do it...
print out and laminate our fave pics from previous Los Angelopes and put them in the spokes of our freak bikes. Then we can share them w/ people who dance in medians w/ us or share their clown hooch w/ us!! It's like a scrap/business/spoke card!
I just had a lengthy discussion with our laywers and they advised against taking the brakes off of the logo because it might give people the idea that we supported bikes without brakes...
They were however able to let slide the fact that there are no visible functioning brake calipers on the logo. Which i think is still pretty good...

I have been riding and building freakbikes every day since los angelopes!
Oh and Dan, I need a set of 16"s for Billy, the 12" in the rear is so shot from just a couple hours of riding, and getting worse. I'll probably be able to grab em from you on friday. I'll call you.
Oh, and I was thinking, in honor of Glo Rider, who rode a recumbent on pretty much every ride, we should bring some freak bikes out on friday to the Glo-Ride...
Recumbents are freak bikes in my book...
I'm thinking of riding Billy, but havent decided yet.
This pic is incredible!! For some strange reason it made me think of the opening background music from the old tv show called "What's Happening" Some of you will remember it, some of you probably never have seen it or heard of it.
LeoLeo, that nails it! That's the music that I had in my head for most of the 'Angelopes ride. With samples of screaming, dolphins choking on megaphones, and meandmybluebike's patented wicked witch orgasm duck call
